Barbara Jean Maatman, 49, of Oakwood Street, Morgantown, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at home.
She was born Feb. 12, 1950, in Saginaw, Mich., daughter of the late Alex and Margaret Mahoney Mikoleizik, of Saginaw.
She attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She was previously employed by Ruby Memorial Hospital in the radiology department.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Maatman; one son, Benjamin Douglas Maatman, of Morgantown; one daughter and spouse, Angela Maatman and Mike Chilcutt, of Greencastle, Pa; one brother, Robert Mikoleizik, of Saginaw; one sister, Jo Ann Mikoleizik, of Saginaw; two granddaughters, Emily and Cassandra Chilcutt, of Greencastle, Pa.
Cremation service will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Birdie L. Sickles
Birdie L. Sickles, 90, of West Third Street, Westover, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at home.
She was born April 6, 1909, in Monongalia County, daughter of the late Calvin and Mary Anne Gamble Chipps.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Glen Oaks Church of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter, Dolores Keyser, of Morgantown; four sons, James C. Sickles, Warren H. Sickles, George M. 'Pete' Sickles and John D. Sickles, all of Morgantown; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. 'Bud' Sickles, seven brothers and three sisters.
Private service was held at Dering's Funeral Home, with Gene A. Kessel and Jeremy Joy officiating. Burial was in Lawnwood Cemetery. Donations: Monongalia County Health Department Hospice Care Program, 453 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, WV 26505-1200.
Maude T. Brown
Maude T. Brown, 100, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Chestnut Hills apartments in Morgantown, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Meadows of Garden Grove Nursing Home in Winter Haven.
She was born Feb. 8, 1899, in Wallback, daughter of the late David F. and Viola E. Summers Legg.
She was the oldest living member of the Highlawn United Methodist Church of Rivesville.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Lee Davis, of Ocean City, Md., two sons, Fletcher Brown, of Winter Haven, Fla. and Jack L. Brown, of Belpre, Ohio; one son-in-law, Ralph Green, of Morgantown; two sisters, Sylvia Vineyard, of Newton, and Sarah Cobb, of Teays Valley; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher Brown Sr., in 1970; one daughter, Phyllis Green, in 1993; one brother and three sisters.

James T. Nicholson
James Timothy Nicholson, 76, of Star City, formerly of Summers School Road, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1923, in Morgantown, son of the late Timothy Marshall and Anna McDonald Nicholson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a bricklayer and in the construction business. He was Free Methodist and a lay minister.
He is survived by three sons, Michael Nicholson, of Masontown, Cecil McDonald, of Morgantown, and Jeffrey Nicholson, of Greensboro, N.C.; five daughters, Karen Hilling, of Johnson City, Tenn., Ruth Hilling, of Greensboro, Janet Kennedy, of Star City, and Peggy Summers and Stephanie Nicholson, both of Morgantown; six sisters, Melvina Cutlip, Anna Pearl McMillen, Etta Shears and Glenda Corob, all of Morgantown, Lilly Jenkins, of Pentress, and Winnie Ruble, of Manchester, Tenn.; two brothers, Ben Nicholson , of Morgantown, and Don Nicholson, of Manchester, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Hilling Nicholson; his second wife, Marie Shaffer Nicholson; a brother, two sisters and a grandchild.

John E. Lemunyon
John E. Lemunyon, 81, of R.D. 1, Greensboro, Pa., (Sugar Grove,) died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at home.
He was born July 27, 1918, in Greene Township, Greene County, Pa., son of the late Forney W. and Ida Mae Belford Lemunyon.
He attended Kirby School and lived in Greene County all of his life. He worked at the Hillman Coal and Coke Co. and the Lake Lynn Coal Co. He worked at Duquesne Light Warwick Mine, where he was a member of UMW local 6310, from May 3, 1950, until he retired June 30, 1981. He attended Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes G. Fox Lemunyon, whom he married July 24, 1937; a son, John D. Lemunyon, of Winter Garden, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Velva) Furno, of Richwood, Ohio, Mrs. Steve (Marie) Zalar and Mrs. Jerry (Stephanie) Dorsey, both of R.D. 1, Greensboro (Sugar Grove); eight grandchildren, Rose Mary Price, Holly Beth Ross, Ernie Jamison Jr., Johnny Lemunyon, Terri Marghella, Tonya Woodring, Stephen Zalar and Tabitha Lynnette Dorsey; 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandd aughter.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry J. Dorsey Jr., and three brothers, Fred Lemunyon, in infancy, Kenneth W. Lemunyon and Richard Carl Lemunyon.

William Russell Shaffer
William Russell Shaffer, 72, of Bay Minette, Ala., and formerly of Fayette County, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at home.
He was born April 17, 1927, son of Myrtle Shaffer Moody, of Philadelphia, and the late Ernest Shaffer.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in Southern France and at Anzio Beach. He was a retired member of the Water Board in Hillsborough County, Fla.
He is also survived by one daughter and spouse, Barbara S. and Henry Scheepers, of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother and spouse, Theodore C. and Patricia Shaffer, of Point Marion; one sister and spouse, Laveda and George Mathieu, of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Marguerite Burnett, of Tampa, Fla.
Private graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 4, in the Little Arlington section of Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, with the Rev. Mildred Martin officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by the VFW Post 747 and the American Legion Post 499, both of Point Marion. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, 501 Morgantown St., Point Marion.
Lewis Winford Lemley
Lewis Winford Lemley, 81, of 3452 Hersey St., San Diego, Calif., died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in San Diego.
He was born June 23, 1918, in Daybrook, son of the late Lewis Russell and Bertha Moore Lemley.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired after 20 years of service. He also was a retired custodian for the Board of Education with 20 years of service. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Benson Lemley; one daughter and spouse, Maureen and Dennis LaBerge, of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Learnie Lemley, of Pentress; three sisters, Minnie Tennant, of Hundred, Betty Tennant, of Blacksville, and Jane Tennant, of Route 1, Burton; two grandchildren, Natalie and Stephanie LaBerge.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Ann Lemley; two brothers and one sister.
Service will be 11:30 a.m. (PST) Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the Conrad Funeral Home, Lemon Grove, Calif. Burial will follow in California, with full military services.

Freda V. Hunt, 95, of Burton, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at a WVU Hospital in Morgantown.

Brian K. Malone
Brian K. Malone, 57, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Smithfield, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in Arizona.
He was born Feb. 5, 1942, and raised in Smithfield, son of Richard and Anna Jane Malone, of Smithfield.
He also is survived by his wife, Patricia Ganoe Malone; three daughters, Barbara Ledgerwood and Marcye Davies, both of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Shanna Malone, at home; four grandchildren; one sister, Karen Malone, of New York; and one brother and spouse, Bruce and Carol Malone, of Morris Crossroads.
He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Malone Jr.; and one brother, Wayne Malone.
Cremation service was held in Arizona, with private interment to be held in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, at a later date.
Phyllis V. Corbin
Phyllis V. Corbin, of Canyon School Road, Morgantown, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Addison, Pa.
She was born July 27, 1935, in Morgantown, daughter of the late Aaron and Minnie Frantz Pritts.
She was a retired secretary employed last by WVU. She was a member of the Morgantown VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Pamela and Benny Raymond, of Addison, Pa. and Marsha and Allen Johnson, of Cassville; one son, Russell Corbin, of Morgantown; four granddaughters, Tammy Raymond, Melissa Raymond, Angel Johnson, and Christa Carmody; and two great-grandsons, Harley Johnson and Seth Carmody.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell G. Corbin.

Prentiss O. Cochran
Prentiss O. 'Cotton' Cochran, 79, of Clearwater, Fla. formerly of Reedsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Mease Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.
He was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Braxton County, son of the late Peter Jackson and Ula Susan Ash Cochran.
He was employed at Preston Electric & Telephone Co. (Alltel) in Masontown as a lineman supervisor for more than 30 years. He was a graduate of Sutton High School, a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division. He was a member of the Masontown Methodist Church and the Masontown VFW Post 1589.
He is survived by two sons and spouses, John J. and Linda Cochran, of South Bend, Ind., Terry M. and Peggy S. Cochran, of Reedsville; two brothers, Harry Cochran, of Akron, Ohio, Ray Cochran, of Sutton; one sister, Beatrice Wolfe, of Largo, Fla.; and five grandchildren and one spouse, Carly Cochran and Kayla Cochran, both of Reedsville, Alex and Maura Cochran, and Elaine Cochran, all of Lafayette, Ind., and Chris Cochran, of South Bend.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Allie Louise Cochran; his second wife, Alice Gibson Cochran; an infant son, David Cochran; three brothers, Paul Cochran, Eddie Cochran and Pierson Cochran; one sister, Marjorie Cochran; one half sister, Lana Woodzell; and a special friend, Leora Brewer.

Kevin Michael Meredith
Kevin Michael Meredith, 38, formerly of East Park Avenue, Fairmont, currently of Pittsburgh, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born March 18, 1961, in Fairmont, son of Richard Meredith, of Sacramento, Calif., and Virginia Martha Skormisley Hawkins, of Fairmont.
He was employed as a supervisor of Fleetwash Inc., of Pittsburgh, and formerly was a teacher at the University of Tampa, Fla. He was a 1979 graduate of East Fairmont High School and a graduate of Fairmont State College, where he participated in the TKE fraternity. He held a master's degree in public administration from WVU. He was an Eagle Scout, and Catholic.
He also is survived by a brother, Sgt. Thomas Ralph Hawkins III, of Good Fellow Air Force Base, Texas; four sisters, Kimberly Kay Archer, of Ada, Ohio, Martha T. Hawkins, of Clarksburg, T. Anne Hawkins, of Morgantown, and Barbara H. Hawkins, of Bethlehem, Pa.; two nephews, Shannon Archer and Benjamin Wimmer Hawkins; a niece, Jennifer Archer; a good friend, Jennifer Hart, of Fairmont; paternal grandmother, Margaret Meredith, of Fairmont; maternal grandmother, Virginia Skormisley, of Fairmont; and grandmo ther, Lucille Hawkins, of Fairmont.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, John Skormisley; paternal grandfather, James Meredith; and grandfather, T. Ralph Hawkins.

Frank S. Danko Sr., 61, of Bobtown, Pa., died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1937, in Edenborn, Pa., son of the late Louis and Catherine Lesko Danko.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, UMWA Local 6159, and the Rod and Gun Club, all in Bobtown, and retired as a coal miner from J&L Steel's Shannopin Mine.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Fortney Danko; three children and spouses, Frank S. Jr. and Debbie Danko, Catherine Ann Danko and John Johnston, and Timothy D. Danko, all of Bobtown; five grandchildren, Frank S. Danko III, Brian Keith Danko, Tara Danielle Danko, Chace Montgomery Johnston and Jacob Johnson; three brothers, Joe Danko and Mike Danko, both of Bobtown, and Paul Danko, of Cleveland; and four sisters, Kathryn Zeleznik, of Fairchance, Pa., Mary Boggio and Delores Chorba, both of Uniontown, Pa ., and Anna Franczek, of Cleveland.

Ruth Gladys Hayhurst Leeson, 86, of Piney Run community, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Wishing Well Health Center, Fairmont.
She was born Sept. 1, 1912, in Marion County, daughter of the late Waitman and Hattie Heston Hayhurst.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed growing flowers and tending a garden. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loyal Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
She is survived by two sons and spouse, Arnold Ray and Janet Leeson, of Deerfield, Ohio, and Lawrence 'Pete' Leeson, of Alliance, Ohio; six grandchildren, Cynthia Leeson and Jeffrey Dale Leeson, both of Alliance, Raeann Anderson, of Deerfield, Melissa Ann Kibbler, of Florida, Randal Alan Leeson, of Stow, Ohio, and Lawrence Edward Leeson, of Sebring, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey L. Leeson; a son, Donnie Lee Leeson, on Feb. 16; seven brothers, Burl Hayhurst, Earl Hayhurst, Jimmy Hayhurst, Eli Hayhurst, Delbert Hayhurst, Carl Hayhurst and Willie Hayhurst; and two sisters, Mary Swisher and Virginia Pheasant.

She was a member of Littleton Church of Christ.
She is survived by a sister, Laura Bogard, of Columbiana, Ohio.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ferguson, in 1976; a son, Robert R. Ferguson; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ferguson; two brothers, Archie Ferguson and Albert Ferguson; and a sister, Thresa Moore.

Ralph H. Haines, 92, of R.D. 1, Mount Morris, Pa., died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa.
He was born Dec. 25, 1906, in Kirby, Pa., son of the late William Lindsey and Bertha Lenora Hickman Haines.
He was a mechanic at Arrison and Kennedy Chrysler Plymouth, Mount Morris, and drove a school bus for Charles Bowers. He was a member of Kirby United Methodist Church, where he was a lay leader and former Sunday School superintendent, and attended 68 straight Easter Sunrise Services at Fairall United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Methaney Haines, whom he married Aug. 24, 1938; a son and spouse, Tim and Barbara Haines, of Mount Morris; two grandsons and spouses, Gary and Denise Haines and Doug and Sandy Haines; four great-grandchildren, Mark Haines, Audrey Haines, Bailey Haines and Nathan Haines; and a sister, Edith Haines, of Claysville, Pa.

She was born June 6, 1925, in Kingmont, daughter of the late Austin and Nurena Kramer Bingamon.
She was a homemaker and mother, worked with her husband in his dental office in Baltimore, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Fairmont.
She is survived by a son and spouse, Charles Michael and Betty Teets, of Parkville, Md.; two daughters and spouses, Charlotte Ann and Richard Hewitt, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Charity Ann and Jim Welch, of Kingmont; two brothers and spouses, Charles A. 'Buck' and Doris Bingamon, of Pleasant Valley, and Robert W. and Wilma Bingamon, of Kingmont; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charles Russell Brand
Word has been received of the death of Charles Russell Brand, 58, of College Park, Md., formerly of Preston County, on April 29, 1999, at Washington Hospital Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Morgantown, son of the late Glenn Brand and Pauline Brand Coraham.
He was a 1958 graduate of Arthurdale High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked for Trailways Bus Lines and Golden Limousine Service.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Iman Brand; a daughter and spouse, Carole and Bill Martin; two granddaughters, LeAnn and Linsey Martin; three sisters, Debbie Harmon, Betty Parker and Gail Brand; four brothers, Allen Graham, Scott Graham, Glenn Brand and Bill Brand; and two stepsisters, Patty Snyder and Sue Williams.
Service was in Hyattsville, Md. Burial was in Cheltenham Cemetery, with full military honors.

Kenneth B. O'Neal
Kenneth B. O'Neal, 75, of Meridan Street, Morgantown, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Morgantown, son of the late Ray Delpha Squires and John R. O'Neal.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He worked for Morgantown Paint Co. and was a maintenance supervisor at Mountaineer Mall. He was a member of John L. Frazier VFW Post 9916, Westover. He was Protestant.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annamae Fisher O'Neal; two sons and spouses, Kenneth Jr. and Nancy O'Neal, of Willington, Conn., and Terry Lee and Deborah O'Neal, of Jacksonville, Ill.; two daughters and spouses, Patricia Ann and David Hauser, of Wheaton, Md., and Deborah and Clayton Childers, of Frederick, Md.; a sister, Gene Snyder, of Washington, Pa.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, with the Rev. Stacy L. Groscup officiating. Burial will be in East Oak Grove Cemetery.
Edith M. Slavensky
Edith M. Slavensky, 82, of Cassville, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Smithley Personal Care Home, Mount Morris, Pa.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in White House, Pa., daughter of the late James and Agnes McMillen Crider.
She was a homemaker and was Protestant.
She is survived by two sons and spouses, Frank and Donna M. Slavensky, of Morgantown, and Steve and Velma Slavensky, of Maidsville; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Roy (Donna J.) Slavensky, of Cassville; two sisters, Faye Buckley, of Isabel, Pa., and Wanda Cupp, of Dellslow; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Slavensky, in 1995; a son, Roy Slavensky, in 1989; an infant daughter; three sisters, Willis Davies, Alberta Dillie and Wanita Varner; and three brothers, James Crider, Edward Crider and Robert Crider.
Friends may call at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, with the Rev. Paul Spence officiating. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery, Pentress.
Fielden Richard Rager
Fielden Richard 'Fred' Rager, 87, of Grafton, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Grafton City Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Halleck, son of the late Kenneth Freeland and Rosie Rager.
He was a coal miner, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of American Legion Taylor County Post 3081.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sarah 'Virginia' Pyles Rager; three sons and spouses, Richard and Sue Rager, of Grafton, David Lee and Linda Rager, of Westernport, Md., and Phillip and Tina Rager, of Parkersburg; three daughters, Mrs. Sam (Emma) Taylor and Mrs. Mike (Maryln) Wyckoff, both of Grafton, and Mrs. Bob (Frances) Colebank, of Flemington; a brother, David Freeland, of Morgantown; two sisters, Sarah Stuchell, of Morgantown, and Ann Colflesh, of Confluence, Pa.; 18 grandchildren and 19 gr eat-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Dorwood Freeland, Clarence Freeland and Arnold Freeland.
