Evelyn Dowdy Duncil
Evelyn Dowdy Duncil, 74, of Farmington, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born June 7, 1924, in Monumental, daughter of the late Walter Dowdy and Vina Dowdy Davis. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a former teacher and past member of the official board. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother for the Boy Scouts in Farmington and a former official of the Mannington Fair Association. She is survived by two sons and spouses, William C. and Jessie Duncil, of Parsons, and Ronald L. and George Ann Duncil, of Carolina; two grandsons and spouse, Charles L. Duncil, and his longtime companion, Coleen, of Lemoore, Calif., and Patrick and Ame Duncil, of Fairmont; and two sisters, Kathryn Hayes, of Mannington, and Maxine Lopez, of Novi, Mich. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Hashman and Wilma Muldrew, and two brothers, William Dowdy and Albert Dowdy. Friends may call at Dent Funeral Home, Farmington, from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, with the Rev. Charles Flint officiating. Susan Joy Boyd Kempa, 41, of Summers School Road, Morgantown, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at home. She was born Jan. 12, 1958, in Morgantown, daughter of Robert and Elsie Mowery Boyd, of Morgantown. She was a bookkeeper for Bon Vista Apartments. She was Baptist. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Wade Kempa; two daughters, Melissa Anne Kempa Crowder, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Rachael Renee Kempa, of Morgantown; a brother, Robert James Boyd, of Morgantown; and three sisters, Donna Darlene McDilda, Janet Lynn Merrill and Tammy Loraine Rose, all of Morgantown. Tony Schifano, 70, of Westover, died Friday, April 30, 1999, at Monongalia General Hospital. David Earl Williams
David Earl Williams, 70, of Ravenna, Ohio, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, in Akron (Ohio) General Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1929, in Morgantown, son of Earl E. Williams and Gladys R. Burnside Williams Prout. He was retired from the Akron Beacon Journal as a motor route driver. He also worked for Flintkote, in Ravenna, where he had lived for four years. He was an avid fisherman. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by his stepfather, Oliver Prout, of Morgantown; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Patricia) Meadows, of Ravenna; a sister, Janet White, of Morgantown; and a grandson, Jack Meadows Jr., of Kent, Ohio. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Williams, and a brother, Arthur Prout. Friends may call at Shorts Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Jacqueline F. Klink
Jacqueline F. Klink, 68, a resident of Espyville, Pa., for the past four years, and formerly of R.D. 1, Point Marion, Pa., died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at her home. Friends may call at the Richard R. William R. Shultz Sr.
William R. Shultz Sr., 63, of Smokey Crest Drive, Morgantown, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Morgantown, son of the late Lester T. and Pauline Laura Miles Shultz. He retired as a coal miner from Humphrey No. 7. He owned and operated Shultz Gas and Grocery on Cheat Road from 1956-66. He was a former security officer at WVU. He was a staff sergeant in the National Guard and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a founding member of State Line Hunting Club, was a member of UMW and was a former member of Cheat Lake VFD and Monongalia County FOP. He was Methodist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Olive Whitaker Shultz, and a son and spouse, William R. and Debi Shultz, of Cheat Lake. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lester Shultz, and a sister, Shirley Hamric. Friends may call at William McCulla Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Monday and from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Marie Ann St. Clair
Marie Ann St. Clair, 25, of Morgantown, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born May 8, 1974, in Morgantown, daughter of Alton O. and Gloria J. Domico St. Clair, of Masontown. She was employed by Gabriel's of Morgantown. She is survived by a daughter, Faith Marie St. Clair; a son, Johnathan Michael Mayne; two brothers, Kevin St. Clair, of Tunnelton, and Michael A. Domico; a grandmother, Loraine Domico, of Masontown; and her fiance, Randy Messenger, of Tunnelton. She was preceded in death by three grandparents. Susie W. Dusenberry
Susie W. Dusenberry, 96, of R.D. 1, Greensboro, Pa. (Mapletown), died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at home. She was born Aug. 12, 1903, in Rivesville, daughter of the late William Sanford and Prudia Mason Wilson. She had lived in Mapletown since 1921, and had been a member of Mapletown United Methodist Church since that time. She was a member of United Methodist Women, the former Daughters of Ruth Sunday School class, Greene Academy Chapter Daughters of the Ameri can Revolution, St. Hugh Senior Activity Group, Carmichaels Grange 1389 and Five Point Home Economics Club. She was a charter member of the former Southeastern Greene Women's Club, which was organized in 1945. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Dora D. and H. Miller Barb, of R.D. 1, Greensboro (Mapletown); two granddaughters and spouses, Holly B. and Gary Stevenson and Joy B. and Robert Born; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Dusenberry, whom she married May 6, 1922; six brothers, Nay Wilson, Freddie Wayne Wilson, Wren Wilson, Russell Wilson, Orval Wilson and Ivan Wilson; and four sisters, Icie Wilson, Bertha Shaffer, Zo ie Michael and Mary Rumble. Charles C. Devor
Charles C. Devor, 81, of Collins Ferry Road, Morgantown, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at home. He was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Pennsylvania, son of the late William and Agnes Krebar Drvar. He was a member and elder of Rock Forge Presbyterian Church. He had been employed by Consolidation Coal Co. until he retired in 1980. He was a longtime member of UMWA Local 1058. He is survived by two daughters and spouse, Brenda Joyce Thorn, of Morgantown, and Sara A. and James Nairn, of Fairfield, Iowa; two sons and spouses, Charles E. and Linda Devor and Michael R. and Judy Devor, all of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Camille (Mrs. Brett) Hayhurst, Danielle Devor, Heather Nairn and Josh Devor; two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Ian Hayhurst; and a brother, George Drvar, of Morgantown. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Higginbotham Devor. John D. Harmison
John D. 'Jack' Harmison, 78, of East Bluemont Street, Grafton, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born April 14, 1921, in Brunswick, Md., son of the late Frank C. and Hazel Collier Harmison. He was a funeral director. He began his career in the funeral business in 1940 at age 19. He owned Hunter Funeral Home, in Berkeley Springs, from 1970-79. He moved to Grafton in 1979, and was employed by Davis Funeral Home Bartlett Chapel until he retire d in 1983. He then worked for the former Hoke Funeral Chapel for 10 years until 1993, and was employed at McGlumphy Mortuary, Clarksburg, from 1994-99. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club in Berkeley Springs. He was Methodist. He is survived by five children and spouses, Edward and Cheri Harmison, of Overbrook, Kan., Susan and Matt Matthews, of Ottawa, Kan., and Robert 'Robbie' and Debbie Harmison, Sandra 'Weedle' and Tony Stemple, and Nancy and Tony Johnson, all of Grafton; e ight grandchildren, Heather, Jonathan, Holly and B.J. Harmison, Megan, Kristen and Ethan Stemple and Makia Johnson; and two brothers, Fred 'Bill' Harmison, of Martinsburg, and Charles 'Carty' Harmison, of Ravenswood. Fred L. Satterfield
Fred L. Satterfield, 82, of Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Coral Springs (Fla.) Medical Center. He was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Pleasant Valley, son of the late Bert and Ethel Wilfong Satterfield. He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School, West Virginia Business College and Cannon Trust School of the University of North Carolina. He retired as vice president and trust officer from the former City National Bank, now One Valley Bank, in Fairmon t, with 38 years of service. He was a faithful member of Baptist Temple in Fairmont for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Army, Third Infantry Division, Rock of the Marne veteran of World War II. He was wounded in action in France and Germany. He was awa rded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Fairmont Kiwanis Club, Lodge 9 AF&A Masons, Osiris Shrine Temple, the Oriental Band and Chapter 724 Military Order of the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Aldene Lowe Satterfield, whom he married June 6, 1946; two sons and spouse, Robert and Marie Satterfield, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rodney Satterfield, of Coral Springs; three daughters and spouses, Charlene and R obert Martin, of Coral Springs, Stephanie Satterfield and Robert Alberico, of Pittsburgh, and Dr. Melanie Satterfield and Richard Fredrickson, of Rocky River, Ohio; nine grandchildren and spouse, Scott and Kathy Satterfield, of Huntington, Keith Satterfi eld and Lee Satterfield, both of Jacksonville, Brett Martin, a student at VMI, Christelle Martin, a student at Penn State, Rachel Alberico, Hilarie Alberico and Christian Alberico, all of Pittsburgh, and Heidi Fredrickson, of Rocky River; four great-gran dchildren, Erica Satterfield, Brandi Satterfield, Dawn Marie Satterfield and Robbie Satterfield; and a sister-in-law, Edna Satterfield, of Fairmont. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul H. Satterfield and his twin, Robert Satterfield, and a sister, Hallie Satterfield Hibbs. Mildred E. Thrasher
Mildred E. Thrasher, 77, of Over Cheat, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Kalkaska, Mich., daughter of the late Arthur Henry and Mildred Wilkinson Senn. She was a homemaker and was Methodist. She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Harriet E. and John Hriblan and Patricia and Charles Harper, all of Morgantown; three sons and a daughter-in-law, James A. Thrasher, of Gladesville, and Richard A. Thrasher and Robert W. and Debra Thrasher, a ll of Morgantown; a sister, Harriet Fry, of Anderson, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James W. Thrasher Jr.; two brothers, Edwin Senn and Robert Senn; and two sisters, Oneita Belford and Araletta Blasiole. Margaret L. Inghram, 63, of Farmington, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at home. She was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Barrackville, daughter of the late Sell and Hattie L. Mays Palmer. She was a graduate of Farmington High School. She was an employee of Drulane Industries, Farmington. She was Protestant. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, George W. and Mary Inghram, and Charles 'Chuck' Inghram, all of Fairview; three sisters, Geraldine E. Tennant and Nancy Louise Tennant, both of Hundred, and Myrel Jean Levelle, of Mannington; five grandc hildren, Crystal Haught, Renae Tennant, Jessica Gardner and Schental and Aaron Inghram; and five great-grandchildren.
