Lawrence Albert DeWitt, 79, of Dorsey Avenue, Morgantown, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Monongalia General Hospital. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Mamie May Reeher
Mamie May Reeher, 78, of Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of Morgantown, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1999, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. She was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Morgantown, daughter of the late George and Laura L. Reed O'Connor. She worked as an assembler at Sterling Faucet and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Carl Reeher, whom she married Dec. 4, 1963; a daughter, Marie O'Connor, of Wheeling; five sons, Larry Reeher, with whom she made her home, Terry Reeher, of San Bernadino, Calif., Ernest O'Connor, of Mendon, Mich., and Richard Reeher and Ed O'Connor, both of Youngstown; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Edward O'Connor; two sisters, Iva Russ and Mrs. Bennett; and three grandchildren. Nora M. Golden
Nora M. Golden, 87, of Brytes Way, Morgantown, a former resident of Fairmont, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the home of her sister Delta Everson, of Brytes Way. She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Barbour County, daughter of the late Charley E. and Icie Dadisman Golden. She retired from Westinghouse Lamp Plant, Fairmont, with 32 years' service. She was a member of the Church of Christ for more than 70 years and was with East Side Church of Christ for the past nine years. She was a daily Bible reader, an avid quilter and a flower gardener. She is survived by two sisters and spouses, Delta and Russell Everson, of Morgantown, with whom she made her home for four years, and Ruby and William Wright, of Fairmont. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Delbert Golden, Dewey Golden, Herbert Golden, Bruce Golden and Clifford Golden and two in infancy, and four sisters, Dolly Shockey, Roxie Shockey, Opal Golden and Carrie Golden. Michael Robert Moffett
Michael Robert Moffett, 53, of Clarksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at his home. He was born June 26, 1946, in Clarksburg, son of the late R. Glenn and Margaret Dillmore Moffett. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington Irving High School, and graduated from West Virginia University in 1973, after interrupting college for four years to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for serving in the Vietnam War. Following graduation from WVU, he sold wholesale products in the tri-state area and later pursued a career in property management and maintenance in Morgantown and Clarksburg. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg. He is survived by a brother and spouse, Charles W. "Chuck" and Martha M. Moffett, of San Diego. There will be no visitation. Graveside Memorial service at Elk View Masonic Cemetery will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, with the Rev. Dr. Eric M. Faust officiating. Flora V. Dilliner
Flora V. Dilliner, 90, of Point Marion, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at home. She was born June 27, 1909, in Nilan, Springhill Township, Pa., daughter of the late Isadore Nihoul and Venusta Zanarini Verset. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Point Marion. She is survived by a son, Earl David Dilliner, of Victoria, Texas; a grandson, Matthew Dilliner, of Vinton, La.; and a sister, Theresa Verset Stoy, of Columbia, Mo. Friends may call at Louis E. Sylvia Jackson
Sylvia Jackson, 81, of Rose Street, Grafton, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Grafton City Hospital, after a long illness. She was born May 30, 1918, in Ritchie County, daughter of the late Oliver Scott and Minnie Dell Holt Mason. She was a social worker at Rest Haven Nursing Home and retired from Rosewood Nursing and Rehab Center in 1993. She was head bookkeeper at First National Bank of Grafton, and had worked at Musgrove's Mill, in Grafton. She was salutatorian of Grafton High School class of 1939 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Grafton, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by a son, David Jackson, of Morgantown; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Rosemary Jackson) McDonald, of Mount Zion; three grandchildren, Dawn McDonald Lane, of Leland, N.C., Charles W. "Billy" McDonald III, of Flatwoods, and William Jackson, of Morgantown; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Lane and Kelsey Lane, both of Leland; a sister, Iva Hustead, of Clarksburg; and a brother, Earl Mason, of Wisconsin. She was also preceded in death in September 1987 by her husband, Lawrence W. Jackson, whom she married Dec. 24, 1945. Mary S. Minor
Mary S. Minor, 92, of Mapletown, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Cloverdale Nursing Home, Masontown, Pa. She was born July 30, 1907, at Glassworks, Greensboro, Pa., daughter of the late Jones J. and Lina Gapen Stevenson. She was a member of Mapletown United Methodist Church, and was formerly an elementary school teacher for Monongahela Township, Greene County. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Carol Ann and Stanley Elniker, of Streetsboro, Ohio; a son, James A. Minor, of Mapletown; five grandchildren and three great-grandsons. She was the last of nine children in her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arlie R. Minor, on June 19, 1991; four brothers, Robert Stevenson, Herbert Stevenson, Edward Stevenson and Weller Stevenson; and four sisters, Mildred Minor, Doris Robbins, Lucille S. Emma J. Bubenko
Emma J. Bubenko, 88, of Mechanic Street, Morgantown, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born July 10, 1911, in Monongalia County, daughter of the late Albert and Lilly Stuchell Nicholson. She was a former employee of Cowan's Bakery, Morgantown, and a lifelong resident of Morgantown, and attended First Church of the Nazarene, Garrison Avenue. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Barbara and Lyle Sinsley, of Belle Vernon, Pa.; a son and spouse, Ralph and Darlene Cline, of Morgantown; a sister, Edna Royce, of Morgantown; a brother, William A. Nicholson, of Akron, Ohio; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bubenko, in 1989; two daughters, Anna May King and Joyce Lee Kline; and three sisters, Florence Gopp, Velva Summers and Violet Cobb. Eileen Frankie Murray, 82, of Miller Street, Morgantown, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born April 28, 1917, in Morgantown, daughter of the late Frank and Lena Hess Guthrie. She was a homemaker and was Methodist. She is survived by a son, Kenneth J. Murray, and his companion, Geneva Friend, of Morgantown; two grandchildren and a spouse, Tracy and Bill Emerick, of White Hall, Ohio, and Donald Murray, of Racine, Va.; and five great-grandchildren. Charles Edwin Knight
Charles Edwin Knight, 66, of Route 1, Kelly Town Community, near Farmington, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Clarksburg. He was born March 17, 1933, in Chiefton, son of the late Paul and Bertha Knight. He was Protestant and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired at age 62 from Francer's Meat Market, in Shinnston. He had previously worked at the Brock Masonry, in Showall, Md., Garvin's Dairy, in Winfield, and the Chicago Transit Authority. He was a graduate of Monongah High School. He is survived by his wife, Helen Joy Moorehead Knight, whom he married March 6, 1950; four sons and spouses, Frank Knight, of Kelly Town, Edward Ray and Becky Knight, of Anderson, Calif., Paul and Ruth Knight, of Four States, and David and Claudia Knight, of Mannington; five daughters and spouses, Sandy Sue and Butch Brock, and Brenda and Thomas Webb, all of Fairmont, Kay and Dennis Powell, of West Union, Joyce and Stanley "Spark" Nicholas, of Mannington, and Charmian and Kevin Hess, of Fallston, Md.; three brothers and spouses, Jack and June Knight, of Michigan, Daniel and Emma Knight, of Kelly Town, and Robert and Varilla Knight, of Elyria Ohio; and two great-grandchildren. Asa F. Hartzell
Asa F. Hartzell, 93, of Fairview Road, Morgantown, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at MonPointe Continuing Care Center. He was born April 26, 1906, in Morgantown, son of the late J. Clark and Laura B. Brown Hartzell. He was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and Hope Apostolic Church. He retired from Monongalia General Hospital in 1972 as an operating room orderly. He is survived by a son and spouse, Donald Eleanor Hartzell, of Morgantown; two stepgrandchildren, Charles Moran and Sherry Moran; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Shawnee Moran and Logan Moran, both of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah A. McClintock Hartzell, in 1987; two brothers, R.B. Hartzell and Lester Hartzell; a grandson, Eric Hartzell; and a nephew, Clarence "Tom" Eaglen. Catherine V. Gower
Catherine Virginia Gower, 85, of St. George, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at home. She was born July 8, 1914, in Parsons, daughter of the late Dick and Jane McDaniel Jones. She was Protestant. She is survived by two sons, William Gower, of Oakland, Md., and Joseph A. Gower, of Newburg; two daughters, Alice Hartsell and Mary Pierson, both of Reedsville; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Gower, in 1994; two sons and three grandchildren. Friends may call at Arthur H. Pfc. William K. Hector
Pfc. William Kenneth Hector, USMC, 24, formerly of Baltimore and Fellowsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Camp Courtney, in Okinawa, Japan. He was born Dec. 25, 1975, in Baltimore, son of Cathy Knotts Ramsel and stepfather Robert Ramsel, of White Marsh, Md., and William Hector, of Edgemere, Md. He was a 1995 graduate of Preston High School. He served three years and nine months in the U.S. Marine Corps as a private first class. He enjoyed sports and hunting. He is also survived by four brothers, Christopher Hector, Patrick Ramsel, Nicholas Ramsel and Taylor Hector, all of Baltimore; his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Knotts, of Fellowsville; many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. Loretta Anderson Arnett
Loretta Anderson Arnett, 54, of Rivesville, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1945, in Tennessee, daughter of the Madge Linger Anderson, of Fairmont, and the late Albert Paul Anderson. She owned and operated the Subway Sandwich Shop, in Bellview. She had previously worked as the office manager of the Sears Home Improvement sales office in Morgantown. She was also a homemaker and member of the Light of Life World Outreach Center. She is also survived by her husband, Roger Arnett; a son and spouse, James and Norma Gaines, of Morgantown; a daughter, Cindy Raschell, of Fairmont; two stepsons and spouse, Roger and Debbie Arnett, of Rivesville, and Scott Arnett, of North Carolina; as tepdaughter, Shelly Kay Smith, of North Carolina; a son-in-law, Edwin "Dean" Bunner, of Fairmont; three brothers and spouses, James and Mary Anderson, Paul and Karen Anderson, and Wayne Anderson, all of Fairmont; nine grandchildren, Brandi Carpenter, Sam my Smith II, Ashley Bunner, Alisha Bunner, Abby Bunner, Cody Arnett, Justin Smith, Jessica Smith and Dillin Smith. James Harvey Hayes
James Harvey Hayes, 79, of Mohan's Run, Mannington, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1920, at Mannington, a son of the late Clyde and Essie Gump Hayes. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was Methodist and enjoyed farming. He had worked for several years at Mannington Pottery and retired from the Marion County school system, where he worked as a bus driver. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kate Lee Dowdy Hayes; a son, Toby Hayes, of Mannington; two daughters, Judy Bissett, of Mohan's Run, Mannington, and Sandy Fluharty, of Harrisonburg, Va.; a brother, Harold "Peanut" Hayes, of Mannington; eight grandchildren, Jeff Hayes and Lana Kincell, both of Fairmont, Gina Pride, of Pittsburgh, Anna Marie Hughes, of Mannington, Ricky Fluharty, Frankie Fluharty and Melissa Fluharty, all of Harrisonburg, Va., and Chad Fluharty, of Long Beach, Calif.; 12 great-gra ndchildren. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Tatterson; three sisters, Marie Jones, Edna Shingleton and Helen Stewart; and three brothers, Coleman Hayes, Clyde "Junior" Hayes and Walter Hayes. Sara F. Robinson Clark
Sarah Frances Robinson Clark, 89, of Walls Village, Easton Road, Morgantown, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born June 3, 1910, in Morgantown, daughter of the late Franklin Russell and Anne Catherine Wolfe Robinson. She was a homemaker and longtime member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons and spouse, Robert L. and Azalea Clark, of Morgantown, and Kenneth T. Clark, of Star City; four daughters and spouses, Kay and Thomas Stankos, of Melbourne, Fla., Mary Ann and James Phelps, of St. Peters, Mo., Dorothy and Tony Garcia, of Point Marion, Pa., and Rebecca Clark McFarland, of Morgantown; a sister, Mary V. Lemley, of Fairmont; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oath T. Linda Carol Bildstein
Linda Carol Bildstein, 55, of Sherwood Street, Star City, was delivered into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000. Death came at Ruby Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Asheville, N.C., daughter of the late Roy Wise and Mary Bradely Harrison. She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She owned and operated T.A. Cleaners, which served the Morgantown area. She was also a member of the Early Risers Bowling League. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Allen F. Bildstein; a daughter and spouse, Theresa Ann and Michael Kornives, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Allen F. Bildstein Jr., of Morgantown; a sister and spouse, Carolyn and Ernie Ward, of Florida; and her stepmother, Connie Wise, of Asheville, N.C. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of family in Asheville. William J. 'Tom' Fisher
William J. "Tom" Fisher, 65, of Morgantown, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at home. He was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Mannington, son of Nelda Henline, of Gloucester City, N.J., and the late John D. Fisher. He served two years in the U.S. Army before beginning his career with Allegheny Power in 1961. He retired in 1996 after 34 years with the power company. He was past president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2357. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of The Pines Country Club. He is also survived by his wife of 42 years, JoAnne Varner Fisher; a son, Michael J. Fisher, of Morgantown; a daughter and spouse, Faye and Alan Burchard, of Burke, Va.; a brother, Robert L. Fisher, of Oak Hill, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Gloria Fisher, of Clarksburg; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Martin and Harold Morgan, both of Mannington. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, John Howard Fisher; a brother, John J. "Jim" Fisher, and two sisters, Inez "Louise" Morgan and Lutrica Ann Martin. Frances I. Sloan
Frances I. Rogerson Sloan, 83, of R.D. 1, Lake Lynn, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1916, at Lake Lynn, daughter of the late James Albert and Alice Harvey Rogerson. She was a member of Gans (Pa.) United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, where she served as president of the WSCS for 30 years. Later, she because a member of the United Methodist church in Point Marion, Pa. She was an active member of Gallatin Grange 1580, in Gans, for 58 years, holding the offices of Pomone, Flora, Lady Assistant Steward and chaplain and was Master of the Grange for the last six years of its existence. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary 7219, Fairchance, Pa., and American Legion Auxiliary 499, Point Marion. She worked at the Berkowitz shirt factory, in Uniontown, Pa., as a packer and presser for 18 years before going to Beaumont Glass Corp., in Morgantown, where she worked as a sample glass packer for 18 years. She is survived by her husband, James P. Sloan; a son and spouse, Larry Richard and Teena Casteel Rogerson, of Dilliner, Pa.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Thomas (Kandy Lynn) Sankovich and Mrs. Jerry (Joy Lynn) Newman; two great-grandsons, Justin David Newman and Travis Richard Sankovich; and a brother and spouse, Harry Albert "Bud" and Lois Bixler Rogerson. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Larry R. Rogerson II, and three brothers, G. Meryle Rogerson, Elton Charles Rogerson, and James Albert Rogerson in infancy. Elta V. Tucker Hedrick, 90, of Haymond Road, Grafton, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at home. She was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Grafton, daughter of the late Hiram and Zelma Zumbro Tucker. She was a member of Blueville United Methodist Church, Grafton. She is survived by a son and spouse, David and Sue Hedrick, of Grafton; a daughter, Carol Bolyard, of Grafton; six grandchildren, Terry Bolyard and James Bolyard, both of Morgantown, Tonya Gerincir, of Cross Lanes, Melissa Baker, of Frederick, Md., Brad Criss, of North Beach, Md., and Michael Criss, of Byron, Ga.; a sister, Ernestine Shumaker, of Fairmont; and nine great-grandchildren. Sarah Frances Robinson Clark, 89, of Walls Village, Easton Road, Morgantown, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, with a Scriptural Wake service at 8:45 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, with the Rev. Colombo Bandaera as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Union Cemetery.

Virginia W. McCoy
Virginia Wolverton McCoy, 83, of Morgantown, formerly of Waynesburg, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born March 14, 1916, in Baltimore, daughter of the late Dr. Lloyd B. and Nancy Cather Wolverton. She was a leader for many years in community activities in Ravenswood and had served on the Central Greene school board, in Waynesburg. She was previously involved in the operations of Dan McCoy Dairy, in Ravenswood, Country Club Apartments, in Morgantown, and Lone Star Farm, in Kirby, Pa. She was a member of Waynesburg Library Club and was active in Greene County, Pa., Republican politics. She recently completed 50 years of membership in R. Douglas Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star, Ravenswood. She was a member of Fairall United Methodist Church, Kirby. She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Sharon and William Garvin, of Morgantown, and Phyllis and Robert McCall, of Waynesburg; a son and spouse, James and Josie McCoy, of Atlanta; a brother, Paul Wolverton, of New Matamoras, Ohio; a sister, Harriet Ranson, of Mason, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dan McCoy; a brother, Lloyd C. Wolverton; a sister, Eva Wolverton; and a grandson, John Robert McCoy. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, with the Rev. John L. McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park Cemetery, Waynesburg.

Truman Paul Wolfe
Truman Paul Wolfe, 65, of Fellowsville, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Grafton City Hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Kingwood, son of Pauline Felix, of Tunnelton. He was a 1953 graduate of Tunnelton High School, where he was a member of the football team. He worked most of his life in the coal mines in Preston County and north-central West Virginia. He retired as a maintenance foreman from Martinka Mine, near Fairmont. He is survived by a son and spouse, Terry and Debbie Wolfe, of Howesville; two daughters and spouses, Robin and Steve Buckhalter, of Hudson, N.C., and Tina and Gary Bolyard, of Fellowsville; a half sister, Annette Huffman, of Silver Spring, Md.; a half brother, Harry Felix, of Glen Burnie, Md.; two sisters-in-law, Viola Ridenour and Florence Shaver, both of Tunnelton; and seven grandchildren, Zach Wolfe, Spencer Wolfe, J. Kelsey, Quincy Kelsey, Chelsey Buckhalter, Nick Bolyard and Brittany Bolyard. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Rita Jean Shaver Wolfe, on July 28, 1999; his stepfather, Bill Felix; a half sister, Rhoda Huber; and an infant half brother, William Felix Jr. Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home, W.Va. 92, Newburg, from 6-9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, until 11 a.m. service with the Rev.
