Warren Hamilton
Warren Hamilton, 79, of Jesup, Ga., formerly of Morgantown, died after a long illness Friday, April 30, 1999, in Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born in Washington County, Pa. He retired as a bank executive and had spent most of his career in Palm Beach County, Fla. He was a World War II pilot, a Little League baseball coach, a former volunteer firefighter and a life member of the Elks Club of Lake Worth, Fla. He is survived by a son, W. Robert 'Bob' Hamilton, of Jesup; a daughter, Dr. V. Jane Hamilton, of Atlanta; a sister, Shirley Sennett, of Leesburg, Fla.; three brothers, Clyde V. Hamilton, of Everett, Wash., and L. Dale Hamilton and Carl M. Hamilton, both of Roscoe, Pa.; and two grandchildren. A memorial service was held Monday, May 3, at Jesup First United Methodist Church with Dr. Julian Tucker and the Rev. Stephen Grantham officiating. Rinehard & Sons Funeral Home, Jesup, was in charge of arrangements.

Paul L. Selby Jr.
Paul L. Selby Jr., professor emeritus and former dean of the WVU College of Law, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at age 75 due to congestive heart failure. He lived at 3290 University Ave., Morgantown. He was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio, the oldest son of Paul L. Selby and Ellis Hopkins Selby. He graduated cum laude from Ohio State University, Columbus, with a bachelor's of arts degree in 1944. He was a member of the 1942 Ohio State varsity National Championship football team, treasurer of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, a member of academic honoraries Phi Epsilon Delta, Phi Sigma Alpha (political science), Pi Alpha Theta (history), and Alpha Epsilon Delta (pre-medicine), and activities honoraries Romophos and Sphinx. He served as President of the Sophomore Class, was a member of the Senior Class C abinet, Student Senate, Fraternity Managers Association board and Ohio Staters Inc., and was a Judge on Student Court. He received his Juris Doctor cum laude from Ohio State University in 1947. While in law school, was president of the Student Bar Association, business manager of Ohio State Law Journal, a member of Phi Delta Phi and was awarded Order of Coif (law academic honorary). He was admitted to practice law in Ohio and the federal courts in 1947 and went into private practice in Columbus for 10 years, specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice defense. In 1957, he became a member of the Ohio State College of Law faculty, serving as a professor, assistant dean and director of legal clinics before moving to West Virginia in 1964. He came to the WVU College of Law in 1964 as dean and professor. He served in both posts until 1972, when he gave up his role as dean to concentrate on teaching. He retired in 1989 and was named professor emeritus. The WVU College of Law honored him with the Justicia Officium Award in May 1996. He was an active Labor Law Arbitrator from 1967 until the end of 1994. He served on the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service panel and, on various panels of arbitrators under the National Bituminous Coal Wage Agreement between the United Mine Workers and the Bituminous Coal Operators Association. From 1979-1981, while on leave from WVU, he served as Chief Umpire for the Arbitration Review Board, in Washington, enforcing the National Bituminous Coal Wage Agreement of 1978. He was a founding and active member of The Pines Country Club, Morgantown; a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Drummond Chapel United Methodist Church and Rotary. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne B. Selby; three sons, Stephen A. Selby of Key West, Fla., Mark A. Selby of Waukesha, Wisc., and Daniel L. Selby of Hurricane, and five grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John E. Selby. No visitation is planned. Cremation will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Suncrest United Methodist Church (formerly Drummond Chapel United Methodist Church) at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, with the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. Thomas W. Davis
Thomas W. Davis, 86, of the Old Kingwood Pike, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at home. He was born Feb. 21, 1913, at Sandbank, Monongalia County, son of the late William Arlington 'Arlie' and Lucy Louisa Blosser Davis. He retired from West Virginia University Physical Plant in 1978. He was a former employee of Greer and the Decker's Creek Sandbank. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 548, of Morgantown. He was Methodist. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Opal M. Dalton Davis; a daughter, Darlene E. Hall, of Morgantown; a brother, Ernest Davis, of Port Richey, Fla.; five sisters, Virginia McDonald, Suzanne Rodeheaver, Francis Hagedorn, Francis Lowe, all of Morgantown and Willodean White, of Newton Falls, Ohio; six grandchildren, Bobby and Debby Deavers, George Hall, Mary Jo Wilburn, Junie and Ginger Ault; six great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Jason Wilburn, Robby and Tommy Deavers, Danielle and April Dawn Ault; and fa ithful companion Trixie. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene R. Davis, on Oct. 7, 1985; three brothers, Lloyd Davis, Frank Davis and James Davis. Lorene Cooley Hixenbaugh
Lorene R. Cooley Hixenbaugh, 67, of Morgantown, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Monongalia General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Star City, daughter of the late Everett M. and Muriel V. Watson Cooley. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Madigan Avenue Church of Christ, in Morgantown. She is survived by three sons and spouses, Joseph C. 'Chuck' and Pam Hixenbaugh II, of Burton, Leslie M. and Sharon Hixenbaugh, of Aliquippa, Pa., and Frederick C. Hixenbaugh, of Monaca, Pa.; two daughters, Marsha A. Wethington, of Fort Worth, Texas, Muriel E. Hixenbaugh, of Morgantown; four brothers and spouses, Everett M. Cooley, Jr., of Cheyenne, Wyo., Wilbert H. 'Webb' and June Cooley, of Morgantown, Kenneth C. and Ann Cooley, of Fontana, Calif., and Norman R. Thorus W. Hawkins
Thorus W. Hawkins, 73, Fairmont, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital in Clarksburg. He was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Marion County, son of the late Holbert Wesley and Mabel Satterfield Hawkins. He retired as a field supervisor for J.O. Livley Construction Co. of Beckley. He supervised the building of coal tipples and the installation of mining belts for mines in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and Maryland. After his retirement, he was the owner and operator of a tractor-trailer and did cross-country hauling for another four years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post in Charleston. He was a Methodist. He also enjoyed working on motors. He is survived by his wife Alice Resecker Hawkins; four sons, Stanley Stine, of Houston, Dewayne Stine, of Fairmont, Brian Stine, of Fairmont, and Michael Hawkins of Massillon, Ohio; a daughter, Lisa Sims, of Charlotte, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Kerri Hawkins, Alisson Stine, Michael Hawkins, Kaylyn Stine, J.C. Carpenter, Stormie Stine, Bradley Sims, Jonie Ann Sims, Ashleigh Knox and Machaela Hill. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lambert Hawkins; two sons, David Allen Hawkins and John Stine; a daughter, Valerie Hawkins; and three sisters, Janessie Hawkins, Wilma Stutler and Retha Graham. Rawna Angus Bosley
Rawna Angus Bosley, 52, of Durbin, formerly of Point Marion, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Davis Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1946, in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of John Angus, of Point Marion, and the late Dorothy Angus. She was a 1964 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, was an LPN for 35 years, worked at Marlinton Hospital for the past 16 years, was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Bartow, and enjoyed attending her children's sporting events, crafts and her work in nursing. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, John Bosley; five sons and spouses, Larry and Pam Bosley, Shawn and Carolyn Bosley, Evan Bosley, Jon Michael Bosley and Adam Bosley; a daughter, Megan Bosley; three grandchildren, Logan, Amber and Lindsey; a sister and spouse, Paula and Dave Sweeder, of Lake Lynn, Pa.; a brother, Jan Angus, of Point Marion; two nieces, Kelley Dlugos, of Morgantown, and Jill Sweeder, of Connellsville, Pa. Herbert Nicholson
Herbert Nicholson, 86, of Kingwood, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at home. He was born March 23, 1913, in Masontown, son of the late Lucian and Louise Murray Nicholson. He was a coal miner and a block and brick mason and he sold mobile homes. He was a member of the Manown Church. He is survived by his second wife, Leona Uphold Nicholson; a daughter, Helen Jane Chenoweth, of Morgantown; a sister, Lorza Groves, of Masontown; a stepson, Robert Miller, of Kingwood; a stepdaughter, Susan Donell, of Ravenna, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche Simms Nicholson; a son, Harold J. Nicholson; four brothers, Robert Nicholson, Glenn Nicholson, Abe Nicholson and Lester Nicholson; and five sisters, Arie Nuce, Jessie Nuce, Gertrude Garletts, Hazel Ayersman and Mabel Methney. Catherine Atkinson
Catherine Atkinson, 70, of Van Gilder Avenue, Morgantown, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born March 23, 1929, in East Liverpool, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold and Lottie Applegate Cronin. She was a member of the Light of Life World Outreach Center in Fairmont, where she worked in the nursery for several years. She had worked at Taylor, Smith and Taylor Pottery in Chester for many years. She is survived by a son and spouse, David and Sharon Clark, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; a daughter, Cathy Jo Illig, of Morgantown, with whom she made her home, along with her grandchildren, David Michael Shaver and Jonna Lynn Illig; two brothers, Hunter Cronin, of Summerville, N.C., and Harold Cronin Jr., of Weirton; a sister, Florence Haney, of Newell; three additional grandchildren and spouses, Roger and Jodie Clark, Kevin and April Clark, and Sandra Kay and Sam Avery; and four great-grandchildren; and wa s like a second mother to Carol and Bill Pell, and grandmother to Chris and Staci Pell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Newton Atkinson; four brothers and two sisters. Mary V. Raymond, 80, of Woodland Terrace, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at MonPointe Continuing Care Nursing Facility. She was born Jan. 7, 1919, Over Cheat, daughter of the late Elza and Blanche Walls Uphold. She is survived by seven daughters, Mary Nolf, of Brookhaven, Martha Raymond, of Stewartstown Road, Alicia Clemsic, of Everlasting Lane, Helen Duley, of Fairchance, Pa., Kay Bean, of Granville, Nancy Newman, of Hiller, Pa., and Darlene Raymond, of Westover; five sons, Norval Raymond, of Uniontown, Pa., Clifford Raymond, of Woodland Terrace, Elmer Raymond, of the Grafton Road, Gary Raymond, of Laurel Point, and Douglas Raymond, of Stewartstown Road; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Frank J. Lester
Frank J. Lester Jr., 72, of Elkins, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born April 6, 1927, in Morgantown, son of the late Frank J. Sr. and Catherine Fitzpatrick Lester. He was a graduate of St. Francis High School and attended West Virginia University. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed as an investigator for Equifax for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Elkins Council of the Knights of Columbus and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Peace in Clarksburg. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. and a past instructor for the Literacy Program. He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church since 1955. He is survived by his wife, Donna Butcher Lester; two sons and spouses, David P. and Ann Lester, of Fairmont, and Daniel F. and Rebecca Lester, of Belton, Mo.; a daughter and spouse, MaDonna and Carl Basile, of Mount Morris, Pa.; a brother, James F. Lester, of Morgantown; a sister, Sister Karen, Palloti Convent, Laurel, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. John R. Lester. David Alan Moore
David Alan Moore, 48, of Chester, Md., formerly of Fairmont, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, after a brief illness. He was born May 3, 1951, in Richwood, son of Virginia Taylor Moore, of Monumental, and the late Edgel I. Moore. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a U.S. Airlines pilot for the past 10 years and a flight instructor before that. He loved flying, traveling, sailing, fishing and hunting. He is also survived by his wife, Debi Smith Moore, whom he married Feb. 11, 1999; a daughter, Jennifer Moore, of Fairmont; a brother and spouse, Dale and Carlena Moore, of Mannington; and four sisters and spouses, Patricia Moore, of Monumental, Judy and Louis Testa, of Manassas, Va., Mary Jane and John Gorman, of Grant Town, and Kathy and John Gower, of Rivesville. Nicholas Jubeck
Nicholas 'Nick' Jubeck, 92, of California, Md., a former longtime resident of Rotary Street, Morgantown, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at home. He was born Dec. 17, 1906, in Miller Farm Borough, Fayette County, Pa., son of the late Michael and Mary Varcholak Jubeck. He was a mining machinery salesman for Jeffrey Manufacturing Co. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2954, Morgantown, and of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Lexington Park, Md., and of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Star City, where he was an usher and very active. He was an avid golfer and baseball manager in the community of Isabella, Pa. He is survived by a son and spouse, Cornelius Neil and Norma Jean Jubeck, of Lexington Park, Md.; a sister, Madelon Jubeck, of California, Md.; a granddaughter and spouse, Monique Narie and Guy A. Lawrence, of Abell, Md.; a grandson, Neil Todd Jubeck, of Lexington Park; and two great-grandchildren, Kiley Austin Lawrence and Bowen McQue Lawrence, both of Abell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Elizabeth Beattie Jubeck, on Feb. 21, 1997; three brothers, Mike Jubeck, John Jubeck and Pete Jubeck; and a sister, Anne Labasik. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, with the Rev. Carl E. Bauer as celebrant. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. Lonnie Cobun Taylor
Lonnie Cobun Taylor, 95, of Reedsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Heartland of Preston County, after a long illness. He was born, Aug. 17, 1904, near Masontown, son of the late Izzie Burns Taylor and Orval Vance Taylor. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Preston County Coal and Coke and Greer Limestone Co. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Blaney Taylor; a son and spouse, Lonnie and Joyce Taylor, of Reedsville; three daughters and spouses, William and Pauline Dunn, of Clarksburg, Richard and Bobbie Jean Woods, of Mims, Fla., and Robert 'Rick' and Karen Soccorsi, of Reedsville; 11 grandchildren, Lonnie I. Taylor Jr. and Tonya Taylor Long, both of Morgantown, Tina Wiles, of Terra Alta, William 'Junior' Dunn and Lonnie Dale Dunn, both of Clarksburg, Orin Lee Dun and Madonna Kaye Dunn Knight, both of South Carolina, Dr. William Woods, of Powder Spring, Ga., Debbie Woods, of Mims, James Taylor, of Philadelphia, and Julie Soccorsi, of Reedsville; a sister, Agatha Clingerman, of Reedsville; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchild ren. Robert Russell Simpson
Robert Russell Simpson, 26, of R.D. 1, Burton, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at home. He was born April 2, 1973, at Radcliff, Ky., son of George Simpson, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Terry Higginbotham Brummage, of R.D. 1, Spraggs, Pa. He is also survived by his wife, Tammy Sue Kimble Simpson, and a daughter, Haile Sue Simpson, both at home; a brother, Doug Tennant, of Fairmont; a sister, Lynette Wilson, of Arnettsville; a stepfather, Larry Brummage, of Spraggs; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Wilson, of Brave, Pa.; his maternal grandmother, Thelma Higginbotham, of Core; and several aunts and uncles. Kenneth F. Moran
Kenneth F. Moran, 78, of Fairmont, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Sipes Residential Care Home, Fairmont. He was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Fairmont, son of the late Fay and Mary C. Moran. He practiced as a lawyer in Fairmont for almost 50 years. He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College and earned his law degree from West Virginia University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by two nieces, Sheila Rose Lightfoot and Tina Marie Fisher, both of California; two nephews and spouse, Robert Dean Moran, and Paul Allen and Valerie Moran, all of California; and six great-nieces and nephews, Tiffany Moran, Jade Moran, Adam Hatch, Danielle Hatch, Brett Moran and Drew Moran. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Everett L. Moran. William J. Nagy
Word has been received of the death of William J. Nagy, 71, of Rialto, Calif., formerly of Morgantown, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Fontana, Calif. He was born in Morgantown, and lived in Rialto for 46 years. He was a 1946 graduate of University High School. He was an iron worker for Local 433 for 20 years, and a member of the Elks lodge in Rialto, American Legion Post 772 and Eagles lodge, both in Fontana, and St. George Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a daughter, Sandy Schwartz-kopf, of Clayton; a brother, Robert, of Fontana; a sister, Mary Pechinko, of Fontana; and two grandchildren. Burial was in Green Acres Memorial Park, Bloomington, Calif.

Delmar Hamilton
Delmar 'Coon' Hamilton, 73, of Fairview, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born April 30, 1926, son of the late William and Lucy Hamilton Tennant. He retired from Eastern Associated Coal Co.'s Grant Town mine with 37 years of service. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army's 11th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II and served in Germany and Korea. He was a member of UMWA District 31 and was a former volunteer fireman. He is survived by three sons, Ronnie Hamilton, of Salisbury, Md., Kenneth Hamilton, of Grant Town, and Terry Hamilton, of Fairview; two daughters and a spouse, Pamela and Allen Baker, of Morgantown, and Brenda Hamilton, of Grant Town; a sister, Wilma Roupe, of Waynesburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers and three grandchildren. Friends may call at Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel, Fairview, from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, with Pastor Rob Tennant officiating. Sarah Jane Suhr
Sarah Jane Suhr, 83, of Grand Street, Morgantown, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at MonPointe Continuing Care Center. She was born May 24, 1915, in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of the late Phillip and Josephine McDonald. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Rochester, N.Y. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Marilynn S. and Lloyd Slaughter, of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Sara Loughney, of Davis, Calif., Helen Martell, of Norfolk, Va., and Paul Haller, of Pittsburgh; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Pearly Suhr, on May 14, 1998; a daughter, Mildred Suhr, in 1942; several brothers, Nelson, Jack, Mickey, Philip, Ben, Leo and George; and three sisters, Georgette, Nellie and Anna. Hastings Funeral Home will provide cremation. A Memorial service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church, Morgantown. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester.

Annie Blanche West
Annie Blanche West, 98, of the Arbors of Fairmont, formerly of Mannington, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born Feb. 16, 1901, in Deal Island, Md., daughter of the late William James and Arentha Hitchens. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mannington. She was the former owner of the oldest working skipjack, the 'Mamie B. Mister' in Chesapeake Bay, Md. She came from a family of fishermen. She was trained in voice and piano at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, in Baltimore. She played for World War I troops at Fort Meade, Md., and on National Wide Radio. She also played on 'Major Bowes Amateur Hour' as an accompanist. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Jean and Henry W. Gould, of Morgantown; two granddaughters, Shelly Minardi, and Laura and Keith Maynard, all of Roanoke, Va.; a great-grandson, Thomas Kight; and close friends, Doris and Edward Gump and David and Michael Gump, all of Mannington. She was preceded in death on Sept. 26, 1990, by her husband. Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, and at First Baptist Church, Mannington, from noon Wednesday, May 5, until 1:30 p.m. service with the Rev. David Moutz officiating. Burial will be in Huey-Thorne Cemetery.

Roger Moore
Roger Moore, 50, of Waterford, Mich., died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born June 26, 1948, in Terra Alta, son of Harry Dean Moore Jr., of Terra Alta, and the late Lura Ellen Bohon Moore. He retired from General Motors Co. with 32 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 653, Pontiac, Mich. He also is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen Morrow Moore; a son, Christopher Dean Moore, of Waterford; three daughters, Kimberly Ann Block and Lora Ellen Moore, both of Waterford, and Stephanie Lynn Scribner, of Orion, Mich.; a brother, Jerry Moore, of Morgantown; a sister, Mary Ellen Helmick, of Terra Alta; and six grandchildren, Joseph Dean Block, Jeffery David Block, Cyle James Block, Ashlee Lynn Scribner, Kaylee Moore and Lisa Marie Santiago. Carl Leroy Davis Sr.
Carl Leroy Davis Sr., 75, of Summers School Road, Morgantown, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Morgantown, son of the late Phillip Leroy and Lyda Mae Blosser Davis. He was a World War II veteran and a self-employed gardener, and was Methodist. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Audrey Gray Davis; four sons and spouses, Carl Jr. and Glenna Davis, of Star City, Rick and Liz Davis, of Cheat Lake, Ron and Elena Davis, of Cassville, and Matthew and Jeannette Davis, of Hundred; three daughters and spouses, Hope and Mindel McDonald, Ruby and Larry Hertzog, and Kathy and Don Nabors, all of Morgantown; three sisters, June McKinney, of Dellslow, Thelma Long, of Masontown, and Rosie Dalton, of Morgantown; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Wanda Lou Gump
Wanda Lou Gump, 66, of Smithfield, W.Va. (Pricetown community), died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born May 16, 1932, at Smithfield, daughter of the late Armstrong and Pearl Scott Ensminger. She was a member of Pricetown Church of Christ. She was a caregiver to the elderly. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by five sons, Willard Gump, of Anchorage, Alaska, Robert Gump, of Painsville, Ohio, and Ervin Ray Gump Jr., Ricky Gump and Jeffrey Gump, all of Smithfield; five sisters, Betty Hronec, of Wooster, Ohio, Virginia Moran, of Mannington, Nancy Manning, of LaCenter, Wash., Mae Garn, of Wellington, Ohio, and Jessie Poulton, of La Grange, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Kayla Birch, Ryan Gump, Rachel Gump, Robbie Gump, Lisa Gump and Jaime Gump. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Ray Gump, on Jan. 10, 1993, and two brothers, Willard Ensminger and Clovis Ensminger. Freda Grace Knight
Freda Grace Knight, 85, of Terra Alta, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Windy Hill Manor, Kingwood. She was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Terra Alta, daughter of the late Henry and Bessie Wilhelm Ringer. She retired as a seamstress from Hopemont State Hospital. She was a member of The Wesleyan Church, Terra Alta. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Shirley and Paul Groves, of Terra Alta, and a grandson, Mark Groves, of Morgantown. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob Steele, in 1936; her second husband, Andrew 'Jack' Feather, in 1959; her third husband, Clovis Knight, in 1983; a sister, Gail Van Voorhis; and four brothers, Norris Ringer, Chester Ringer, Frank Ringer and Floyd Ringer. Helen Hartman
Helen Virginia Summers Hartman, 92, of Sullivan, Ohio, formerly of Catawba, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at her daughter's home. She was born Jan. 7, 1907, at Little Falls, Monongalia County, daughter of the late Thomas James and Margaret Charlotta Sapp Summers. She was a homemaker and mother of seven children. She had been a member of Catawba United Methodist Church. She always raised a large garden and enjoyed growing flowers. She is survived by two sons and spouses, Thomas and Helen Summers, of Fairmont, and Albert and Georgie Ann Summers Jr., of Muse, Pa.; three daughters and spouses, Naomi Clup Davis, of Fairmont, Margaret and Ralph Culp, of Pisgah community, Mon County, and Helen Toy and Les Neel, with whom she made her home in Sullivan; a daughter-in-law, Trudy Summers, of Akron, Ohio; 32 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert 'Hop' Summers, in 1966; her second husband, Lloyd 'Stub' Hartman, in 1982; a son, Ray Summers; a daughter Etta May Carr; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Summers; and six sisters, Audrey Hall, Ethel Sapp, Gladys Sawyer, Thelma Foreside, Frances Poling, and Maudie Summers in infancy.
