Mrs. Mary "Clara" Hando, 94, of Fairmont, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at home.
She was born in Berryburg, daughter of the late Achille and Rosina Angotti Clara.
She was the former owner and operator of Hando's Restaurant. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church Ladies' Society.
She is survived by a son and spouse, John and Anne Hando, of Fairmont; a daughter, Mrs. Antoinette "Nette" Delligatti, of Fairmont; a brother, James Joseph Clara, of Masontown; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Weir, of Grant Town; six grandchildren, Richard Raspa, Michael J. Delligatti, John Christopher Hando, Debra Ball, Cheryl Prascik and Marianna Steele; six great-grandchildren, Devany Atha, Jaclyn Steele, Hilary Steele, Abby Steele, Dustin Burdoff, Kayla Raspa; and a great-great-grandchild, Camden Atha.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nick Angelo Hando, on Oct. 27, 1984; a son, Nick Raspa; daughter-in-law, Juanita Raspa; a son-in-law, Jack Delligatti; a brother, Joseph Clara; and two sisters, Katherine Rucci and Christine Grewe.

Margery E. Moore
Margery E. Haught Moore, 74, of Mannington, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at home.
She was born July 24, 1927, in Flat Run, daughter of the late Denzel and Amanda Simpson Efaw.
She worked at Owens-Illinois until it closed, and then retired from Fairmont General Hospital as a nurse's aide. She was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church. She had many hobbies including crossword puzzles, gardening, quilting and ceramics.
She is survived by two sons, Harry Allen Haught, of Upper Deerfield Township, N.J., and Denzil Lester Haught, of Mannington; a daughter, Sharon Lucille Haught, of Wheeling; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Booth, of Mannington, DeEtta Toothman, of Mannington, and Louise Price, of Mannington; two brothers, Wayne Efaw, of Mannington, and Jerry Efaw, of Mannington; a sister-in-law, Nina Moore, of Fairmont; and a brother-in-law, Aubrey Junior Moore, of Fairmont; two step children, Rosemary Lynch, of Martinsburg, and Oakey James Moore II, of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Tracy Haught; her second husband, Oakey James Moore; and a brother, Roy Donald Efaw.

Virginia Babb Michael
Virginia Mae Babb Michael, 74, of Hagens, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 17, 1927, in Isle of Wight County, Va., daughter of the late Victoria Nelson and Claude Lee Babb.
She was a member of Hagans Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was a charter member of the Extension Homemakers and was very involved with church and community activities.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Michael; three daughters and spouses, Barbara and Daniel Michael, of Hagans, Vicky and Donald Underwood, of Poca, and Beverly Terlosky, of College Station, Texas; six grandchildren, Jennifer Michael Fogle, Matthew Underwood, Aaron Underwood, Kelly Underwood, Benjamin Michael and Kayla Terlosky; a great-grandchild, Courtney Fogle; two brothers, Clayton W. Babb and Melvin L. Babb, both of Chesapeake, Va.; and a sister, Hazel Lawrence, of Gates, N.C.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Michael, and two brothers, James Edward Babb and Johnnie Arthur Babb.

Claude M. Morgan
Claude M. Morgan, 79, of Westover, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Arnettsville, son of the late Claude and Dora Crislip Morgan.
He retired from A&P Tea Co. after 37 years, and was former owner of Morgan Muffler. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant with the 36th Photo Recon Squadron. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a longtime bowler.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Kovach, of Westover; three sons and spouses, Bobby and Trish Morgan, of Ohio, Claude "Moe" and Kathy Morgan, of Westover, and Melvin and Carol Morgan, of Point Marion, Pa.; four sisters, Elaine Newland, Lillian Skidmore, Virginia Smith and Delores Alkire, all of Morgantown; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Powers Morgan; and two brothers, Melvin and James Morgan.

Helen E. Henry
Helen E. Henry, 67, of Laurel Point, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at home.
She was born May 20, 1934, in Danville, Pa., daughter of Helen Baylor, of Danville, and the late Walter Baylor.
She was the owner of the Printech Print Shop in Laurel Point, and was a member of the Morgantown Moose Lodge. She enjoyed collecting dolls, making jewelry and was an avid bowler at Suburban Lanes.
She is also survived by her husband, Richard L. Henry; a son and spouse, Edward and Diana Keller, of Sabraton; a daughter and spouse, Kim Keller Stamm and Dr. Craig Stamm, of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Lauren, and Nick Stamm, both of Morgantown; and two sisters, Grace Drumm and Skip Robinson.

Marjorie Grace Price
Marjorie Grace Price, 77, of Red Jacket, formerly of Baxter, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 23, 1924, in Gage, Randolph County, daughter of the late Edward Byrd and Dorotha Arnold White Penrall.
She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Red Jacket, and was a former member of the Riverside Apostolic Church on Dents Run Boulevard. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and a tireless worker in both churches. She retired as bookkeeper at H&H Drug Store. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and cooking.
She is survived by four daughters and spouses, Marjorie Ann Reckart, of Phoenix, Dorothy Jean and Rush Starr, of Poca, Evelyn Elain and Curtis Stallard, of Red Jacket, with whom she lived, and Linda Lou and Walter Shaver, of Rivesville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granchild.
She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Reckart.

He was born June 14, 1999, in Morgantown, son of Dale "Junior" and Marilyn Goodwin Cress, of Masontown.
He was enrolled in Valley Community birth-to-3 Early Intervention Program, and Children with Special Healthcare Needs.

Forrest B. Vannoy
Forrest B. Vannoy, 79, of Core, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Shock, son of the late Frances L. and Lena Miller Vannoy.
He retired in 1981 as a supervisor with Consolidation Coal Co.'s Blacksville No. 2 preparation plant. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was an active member of Buckeye United Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher and lay speaker. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9916.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Propst Vannoy; a son and spouse, Mark and Betsy Vannoy, of Core; a daughter, Rebecca Tennant and friend Kevin Kincaid, of Hernando, Fla.; two grandchildren and a spouse, Autumn and Gilbert Gonzalos, of Virginia, and Damion Vannoy, of Core; and a sister and spouse, Ina and Charles Earhart, of Woodstock, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Pauley Vannoy, in June 1995, and three sisters, Hallie Smyth, Thelma Everly and Audrey Radcliff.

Wendy Ann Whyel, 53, of Mount Morris, Pa., died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Monongalia Valley Hospital, Charleroi, Pa.
She was born April 2, 1948, in Morgantown, daughter of the late James Core and Ruth Elizabeth Ludlam Brand.
She was a registered nurse, a West Virginia University graduate, and a former nurse at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by eight stepchildren, Sheila Starkey, of Daybrook, Richard C. Starkey, of Grand Rapids, Mich., William W. Whyel, of Cleveland, Donald L. Whyel Sr., of Mount Morris, Earston E. Whyel, of Mount Morris, Pamela S. Whyel Long, Deadra S. Whyel Kidd and Mark R. Whyel; a brother, James Brand, of Oklahoma; two aunts, Freda Bailey, of Westover, and Mary Brand Bittaker, of New Lenox, Ill.; a very dear friend, Karen Cettin Brown, of Mount Morris; and several stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald W. Starkey; and her second husband, Earston Whyel.

Mary Yerkovich Harker, 78, of Fairmont, Dakota community, died at home Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001.
She was born June 24, 1923, in Susquehanna, Pa., daughter of the late Michael and Caroline Barrett.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, jigsaw puzzles and flower gardening. She was Protestant.
She is survived by two daughters, Tillie McDougal, of Massillon, Ohio, and Tina Menas, of Fairmont; four sons and two spouses, Raymond and Wanda Yerkovich Jr., Don and Barbara Yerkovich and Matthew Yerkovich, all of Morgantown, and Roy Allen Yerkovich, of Fairmont; a brother, Abraham Barrett, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Patricia Barrett, of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Yerkovich Sr., on Aug. 28, 1978; her second husband, Ralph "Pete" Harker in August 1984; three brothers, George, Frank and James Barrett; and two sisters, Libby Barrett and Catherine Brunotti.

Richard Warren Martin
Richard Warren Martin, 86, of Westwood Avenue, Star City, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 3, 1915, in Star City, son of the late former Star City mayor Warren and Grace Higgins Martin.
He retired in 1976 from the Western Maryland Railroad. He was a veteran, serving as a technical sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps 29th bomb squadron during World War II. He received the Good Conduct, American Campaign and Air Medals. He was a 1933 graduate of Morgantown High School and attended West Virginia University. He was a trained glass blower and for a time was involved in the Sellaro-Martin glass factory, a family business. He was a lifetime member of the Transportation Communication Union. He was an avid gardener and horticulturist and was profiled on West Virginia Public Television and in The Dominion Post.
He is survived by four daughters, Judy Rush, of Bowie, Md., Kathy Hardin, of Opalika, Ala., Carol Brown, of University Park, Md., and Mary Jane Gallagher, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Allison Martin, of Star City, and Maxwell Forest Martin, of Perrysburg, Ohio; a sister, Maxine Hildebrand, of Star City; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret J. Martin; and a son, David A. Martin.

Gary Andrew Komondor, 57, of Wayne Avenue, Morgantown, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001.
He was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Charleroi, Pa., son of the late Andrew and Dolores Nones Komondor.
The son of an artist and electrician, he pursued life with entrepreneurial spirit, and owned several small businesses in the Morgantown area. He was a member of the Monongah Elks Lodge 455 in Chareleroi. He was a member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Barnett Komondor; a son, Shawn Komondor, of Morgantown; and two daughters, Kathy Komondor, of Morgantown, and Krista Komondor, of Manhattan, N.Y.
A memorial mass will be at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, with the Rev. Colombo Bandiera as celebrant. Louise Peterson Batson, 80, of Stewart Street, Morgantown, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 7, 1921, in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Date K. and Florede Sexton Peterson.
She was a homemaker and was retired as retail sales manager from the Morgantown Glassware Outlet. She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg and attended Davis and Elkins College and West Virginia University. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, David C. Batson Sr.; a daughter and spouse, Anna Louise and Carl Lazzell, of San Antonio, Texas; two sons and spouses, David C. Bernadette A. Somazze
Bernadette Aman Somazze, 82, of Gould Avenue, North View, Clarksburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born July 22, 1919, in Doddridge County, daughter of the late Albert Aman and Grace Maybury Aman.
She was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church for more than 50 years and was a member of St. James Altar Rosary Society. She graduated from St. Mary High School and was an avid quilter. She took pride in caring for her home and family.
She is survived by two sons and a spouse, Donald Somazze, of Columbus, Ohio, and Gerald and Diana Circosta Somazze, of Clarksburg; a daughter and spouse, Carol and Irvin "Bunky" Lowrey, of Littlestown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Robert Somazze, Stacy Somazze, Sherry Lowrey, Rick Lowrey, Lisa Lowrey and Annette Eltz; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death on Jan. 16, 1996 by her husband, Carl Somazze, whom she married Dec. 2, 1939.

Freeman Caffee Jr., 61, of Barrackville, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
He was born July 8, 1940, in Fairmont, son of the late Freeman Caffee Sr. and Ilene McGowan Caffee.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was formerly employed at the Allegheny Power Plant in Rivesville.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Caffee, of Sterling, Va.; two sons, Freeman Caffee III and Cory Caffee, both of Barrackville; and three grandsons.

Johnnie Marvin Thorne
Johnnie Marvin Thorne, 66, of Mannington, formerly of Rivesville, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Fairmont General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born May 23, 1935, in Marion County, son of the late Marvin and Katherine Rachel Nelson Thorne.
He was a supervisor at the West Virginia Department of Highways, Fairmont and Mannington divisions. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Oakhurst Church of Christ, Farmington. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard in his spare time and visiting his favorite vacation spot, Ocean City, Md.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean Carpenter Thorne; two sons and a spouse, Eric Marvin Thorne, of Mannington and Johnnie Lee and Christel Thorne, of Rivesville; three daughters and spouses, Rachel Catalina and Michael "Bones" Anderson, of Carolina, April Darlene and Franklin Shayne Yost, and Kimberly Ann and Craig Allen Lowe, all of Rivesville; 10 grandchildren, Delbert West Jr., Amanda West, Megan West, Brandon Thorne, Courtie Thorne, Brint Thorne, Christopher Walkins, Ashley Walkins, Guy Lowe, and Daniel Lowe; and two brothers and spouses, Jack and Laura Thorne, of Virginia, and Jimmy Thorne, of Kentucky.
He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Christopher Lowe; a sister, Patricia Thorne; a brother, Virgil Jones; and his grandfather, Douglas Arnett.
A covered-dish memorial service will be held at Oakhurst Church of Christ, Farmington, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, with Evangelist Randy Cook officiating. At his request, his body will be cremated. Patricia S. Takovich
Patricia Sweitzer Takovich, 63, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., formerly of Morgantown, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, after a 15-month battle with cancer.
She was the daughter of Virginia Sweitzer and the late George Sweitzer, former City of Morgantown Fire Chief.
She was a graduate of Morgantown High School Class of 1955 and West Virginia University. She and her family moved to Florida in 1964 where her husband was employed as a professor/administrator at Miami-Dade Community College. She was Lutheran. She was an avid gardener who took pleasure in making the lives of others more pleasant.
She is also survived by her husband, John; a son, John, of Summerland Key, Fla.; two daughters and a spouse, Rebecca Takovich, and Elizabeth and Paul Nelson, all of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Melissa, and Britley; stepgrandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, and Jacquelyn; two brothers and spouses, Robert and Charlotte Sweitzer, and Dave and Judy Sweitzer; a sister, Virginia Krishock; four aunts, Rose Anderson, and Kate Sweitzer, of Morgantown, Edna Anderson, of Amherst, Mass., and Lois Anderson, of Reedley, Calif.; two uncles and spouses, Gen. Earl E. and Jane Anderson, of Vienna, Va., and the Rev. Donald and Lorna Anderson, of Pittsburgh; and a father-in-law, John Takovich Sr., of Star City.
At her request, her body was cremated. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations: American Cancer Society.
Shirley F. Liston
Shirley F. Liston, 82, of Kingwood, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at Preston Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Mineral County, daughter of the late George and Virgie McCrobie Ervin.
She was a homemaker and avid gardener. During World War II she was an inspector at a military airplane assembly plant in Detroit, and had worked as a bookkeeper in her husband's business, Liston Lumber Co.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Walter H. Liston; a daughter and spouse, Mary Alice and Jack Sanders, of Rowlesburg; a brother, Harold "Bud" Ervin, of Kingwood; a sister, Wanda Strabin, of Independence; a former daughter-in-law, Debra Triffinger, of Reddick, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kathy Pyles, of Rowlesburg, Kelly Roberts and Richard Sanders, both of Williamstown, Fred Liston, of Reddick, Fla., and Elizabeth Liston, of Ocala, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Frederick J. Liston; two sisters, Bernice Grice and Lena Taylor; and a brother, Bruce Ervin.
Friends may call at Browning Funeral Home, Kingwood, from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, with the Rev. R. Joe Lamm officiating. Wilbert Irving Rice
Wilbert Irving Rice, 79, of Rockville, Md., formerly of Point Marion, Pa., died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in Brownsville Hospital.
He was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Point Marion, Pa., son of the late Irving E. and Erma Jennart Rice Jr.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Point Marion. He was a 1940 graduate of Point Marion High School and attended Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and later worked as a shift foreman at Houze Glass in Point Marion. He retired from the Montgomery County Police Department in Rockville, Md., on Dec. 30, 1978.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dessie Willis Rice, whom he married on Nov. 7, 1941; two daughters, Karen Seiberlich, of Venice, Fla. and Rhonda Rice, of Laurel, Md.; a grandson, Erik Seiberlich, of Charlotte, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Warren M. Rice, on May 31, 1999.
Graveside service will be in the Little Arlington Section of Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa., at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, with the Rev. Mike Oldham officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by VFW Post 747 and the American Legion Post 499, both of Point Marion.

Charles 'Buck' Bingamon
Charles Austin "Buck" Bingamon, 73, of Fairmont, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Kingmont, son of the late Austin Ralph and Nurena Ellen Kramer Bingamon.
He formerly worked for the B&O Railroad as a trackman and was a heavy equipment operator for the Operator Engineer Union. He later worked for M.A. Heston Inc., where he retired as a machine operator with more than 20 years service. He enjoyed spending ti me at his camp at Big Bear Lake. He liked the outdoors. He also liked fishing, especially deep sea fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Lea Rogers Bingamon; two sons and spouses, Charles L. and Donna Bingamon, of Fairmont, and William "Eddie" and Vanessa Bingamon, of Ocala, Fla.; four daughters and spouses, Elizabeth and Danny Poole, of Fairmont, Regina and Bill Murphy, of Montana Mines, Pamela and Joe Hendershot, of Bentons Ferry, and Tracey Six, of Walterboro, S.C.; a brother and spouse, Robert and Wilma Bingamon, of Kingmont; 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Brooks E. "Popeye" Bingamon; a sister, Emma Teets; and a grandson, Shawn Michael Moore.
