Virginia L. Bonasso
Virginia L. "Kay" Naville Bonasso, of Fairmont, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1925, in New Albany, Ind., daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Oeffinger Naville.
She was retired as a secretary/bookkeeper from Mountaineer Electric and McCoy's Surveying. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the church choir.
As a high school senior, she was an Indiana State Bookkeeping Champion. She enjoyed golfing at Green Hills and was a charter parent member of the Fairmont Aquatic Club. Throughout her life, music was important to her. She was her school's drum majorette and she sang in various operettas, community choirs, church choirs, as well as with her sisters in a female quartet in and around Louisville, Ky., during World War II.
She is survived by two sons and spouses, Frank and Paula Hudson Bonasso, of Denver, and John and Debbie Bonasso, of Fairmont; three daughters and spouses, Mary Jo and David Ellis, of Pewee Valley, Ky., Therese Bonasso, of Morgantown, and Patty and Mike Byrd, of Crestwood, Ky.; a brother and spouse, Herb and Rita Naville, of New Albany; grandchildren, Jessica Bonasso, Stewart Ellis, Jamie Stocker, Brian Ellis, Abbey, Elizabeth, and Andrew Bonasso, Michael Byrd, and Amy Gullet; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Madison Gullet; and her recent caregiver, Judy Bumgardner.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas S. Bonasso, on Dec. 18, 1986; a brother, Joe Naville; and three sisters, Margie Hubbuck, Mary Jane Read and Lillian Murphy.

Paul Amos McGilton
Paul Amos "Brown" McGilton, 54, of Bertha Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1947, in Morgantown, son of the late Homer Charles and Lucy Croaston McGilton.
He worked in the coal mines and as a construction worker. He was Pentecostal. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by three sons and a spouse, Paul Jr. and Teri McGilton, of Philippi, Franklin McGilton, of Morgantown, John P. McGilton, of Bertha Hill; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Kibert, of Bertha Hill; five brothers and spouses, James McGilton, Homer McGilton, Mr. and Mrs. Roger McGilton, all of Morgantown, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse McGilton of Waynesburg, Pa., and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie McGilton, of Independence; three sisters, Roseanna Boyers, of Westover, Louella Bolyard, of Morgantown, and Barbara Tennant, of Cassville; and eight grandchildren, James Paul and Genevieve and mother, Judy Brown, Ashley and mother Sarah Estle, Jacob and Katie Kibert, Daniel, Nathaniel and Brianna and mother Kristi Teeter.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Celia JoAnn Kisner McGilton, in January 1982; a daughter, Virginia McGilton, and an infant son; a sister, Helen Marie McGilton; and two brothers, Franklin McGilton and Charles McGilton.

Martha Workman Teets
Martha Workman Teets, 86, of Grafton, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Grafton City Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 20, 1915, at Simpson, daughter of the late John Workman and Amy Whitebait Workman.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Joseph Chapel.
She is survived by a son and spouse, LeRoy D. and Macel Teets, of Grafton; a daughter and spouse, Hazel M. and Billy Lemmon, of Hanoverton, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Teets, whom she married Oct. 15, 1930, on April 21, 1993; a daughter, Gladys "Marlene" Teets; 12 brothers; and three sisters.

Emily Mae Cropp
Emily Mae Cropp, 58, of Metz, formerly of Middlebourne, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born March 6, 1943, in Metz, daughter of Nellie Smith Ornduff, of Metz, and the late Charles Lee Ornduff.
She was employed with the U.S. Census Bureau and was a teacher in Tyler County for several years. She was a substitute teacher in various counties after the birth of her children. She was a graduate of Mannington High School and Fairmont State College. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Campbell's Run Union Church. She enjoyed reading, quilting and watching her favorite dramas on TV.
She is survived by a son, Charles "Chuck" Cropp, of Fairmont; a daughter, Amy Cropp, of Clarksburg; and two brothers, Bruce Ornduff and Paul Ornduff, both of Metz.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Donnie" Cropp, in 1975.

Nedra Lee Fulks
Nedra Lee Fulks, 66, of Idamay, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born Oct. 24, 1934, in Mannington, daughter of Sterling "Tony" Santee, of Idamay, and the late Cynthia Margaret Efaw Santee.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Swisher Hill Union Mission, where she taught Sunday school.
She is also survived by a son, William Fulks, of Idamay; a daughter and spouse, Sheryl and Roger Eli Neely, of Grafton; and a brother-in-law, Jim Fulks, of Port Richey, Fla.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Fulks, on Aug. 27, 1990.
At her request, the body will be cremated. A memorial service will be at the Swisher Hill Union Mission at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, with the Revs. Sherman Goodwin and Carl Jenkins officiating. The cremains will be interred at the IOOF Cemetery in Farmington at a later date. Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Katherine Hart
Ruth Katherine Hart, 63, of Terra Alta, formerly of Morgantown, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1938, in Lake Lynn, Pa., daughter of the late John W. and Pauline Jordan Smith.
She was a homemaker. She was Methodist.
She is survived by her husband, George Hart, of Morgantown, a daughter and companion, Mary Jo Wilburn and George Hall, of Morgantown; a brother, John W. Smith III, of Lake Lynn; two sisters and a spouse, Mary Ellen and Bobby Joe Wolfe, of Morgantown, and Evelyn Clemmer, of Lake Lynn; two grandchildren and a spouse, Jimmy Wilburn, of Hawaii, and Jason and Pam Wilburn, of Camp Lejuene, N.C.; and a great-grandchild, Carah Wilburn, of Camp Lejuene.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Patrick Hart; and an infant daughter.

Alma L. S. Lee
Alma Lorene Starkey Lee, 88, of Mannington, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown.
She was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Sugar Creek, Braxton County, daughter of the late Charles Llewellyn and Lavina A. Boyce Starkey, and granddaughter of the late Samuel M. Boyce and Eliza Samantha Barnette Boyce, and Hiram Starkey and Edith Myers Starkey.
In her early years she worked for Morgan Shirt Factory in Morgantown, and in her later years, at First Ward School, the school she attended as a child, for 10 years. She was Apostolic.
She is survived by three children and spouses, Patricia A. and Kenneth L. Parrish, of Burton, Charles B. and Rose Lee, of Grafton, and Sharon D. and William Thomas, of Fairmont; a son-in-law, William King; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Lee; three brothers and spouses, Dwight Starkey, of Morgantown, Virgil and Wilma Starkey, of Fairmont, and Nolan and Dolores Starkey, of Morgantown; a sister-in-law, Virginia Starkey, of Morgantown; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burdell E. Lee; two daughters, Linda Jean in infancy, and Dixie R. King; a son, George H. Lee; a granddaughter, Joy Durinne King; a brother, O. Vance Starkey; a sister, Ruby M. Davis; a sister-in-law, Lucilla Starkey; and a brother-in-law, Leslie Davis.
Service was held Sept. 19, with burial in Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, was in charge of arrangements.
Pete Robert Oliverio
Pete Robert Oliverio, 86, of 505 Horner Ave., Clarksburg, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Transitional Care, United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
He was born May 11, 1915, in Clarksburg, son of the late Louis and Catherine Olivito Oliverio.
He had worked for the Harrison County Catholic School system for more than 50 years, which included Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus and of the board of directors of Sacred Heart Children's Home, now known as Genesis Youth Center. He was on the financial committee of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he was a member. He was a graduate of Washington Irving High School.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carmina M. Garcia Oliverio; a daughter and spouse, Cecilia A. and Steve Petitto, of Clarksburg; two sons and spouse, Louis A. and Rosanne Oliverio, of Clarksburg, and Raymond A. Oliverio, of Bridgeport; a brother and spouse, William and Julia Oliverio, of Cleveland; a sister-in-law, Angie Oliverio, of Clarksburg; five grandchildren and spouses, Jacqueline A. Wilson, Mrs. John (Claudine) M. Rogers, Stephen V. and Michelle Petitto, Jeffrey R. and Cecily Petitto and Alyssa M. Petitto; and four great-grandchildren, Philip A. Wilson, Austin R. Wilson, Andrew J. Rogers and Kathrine A. Petitto.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dominic Oliverio and John Oliverio; seven sisters, Mary (Sister Kathryn Marie), Anna Oliverio, Rosie Merrotto, Bessie Oliverio, Sallie Oliverio, Angela Oliverio and Virginia Romano; and an infant son, Louis Gerard Oliverio, in 1966.

Edwin Winslow Robbins
Edwin Winslow Robbins, 85, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at the Madison Nursing and Rehab Center, in Morgantown.
He was born June 7, 1916, in Kansas City, Mo., son of the late Lawrence and Helen Glascock Robbins.
After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, he joined Ohio State University in 1949, where he taught until his retirement in 1981. He served as vice chair of the English department and director of freshman composition.
He is survived by two daughters and a spouse, Judith and Joel Hollingshead, of Rolling, Calif., and Janet Robbins, of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Robyn, Todd, Chris and Matt Hollingshead, of California, and Joe Zimmerman, of Morgantown; brothers and sisters, Grenville Robbins, Vincent Robbins, Dorothy Dowgray and Edith Burtis, of Kansas City; and his wife, Helen Persons Robbins, of Fayetteville, N.C.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Belva Garnett Robbins.
Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A memorial service will be in Kansas City at a later date.
Paul Ronald Carlyle
Paul Ronald Carlyle, 65, of 130 Grand St., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Grafton, son of Wilbert Kenneth and wife Bonnie, of Port Orange, Fla., and the late Mary Jane DeMoss Carlyle Leeman.
He was the owner of the former South Side Radiator Shop.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Rosetta Marie Shreve, of Grafton; three children and spouses, Frances Marie and Michael Kreger, of Port Orange, Fla., Ronald and Melinda "Jean" Carlyle, of Grafton, and Christine Carlyle and Phil Poling, of Grafton; six grandchildren, Misty Dawn Metz, Melissa Jean Carlyle, Aimee Lynn McIe, Nicholas Carlyle, Timothy McIe and Chelsey Rose Carlyle; four great-grandchildren; and his dog Andy.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brannon Keith Carlyle; and a sister who died in infancy.

Perry Wade Overfield
Perry Wade Overfield, 66, of Morgantown, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Reedsville, son of the late William Gay and Jesse Lee Watkins Overfield.
He worked most of his life in the care and training of horses. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Perry Overfield Jr. of Morgantown and Christopher Overfield of Medina, Ohio; a daughter, Lisa Fleming of Huntsville, Ala.; an aunt, Georgia Beckman of Morgantown; a brother, Clifford Overfield of Morgantown; five sisters, Jesse Evaline Teaford of Columbus, Ohio, Bonnie L. Mick and Sandra White, both of Morgantown, Shirley G. Rembert of Lewisville, Ohio, and Judith K. Bryan of Elyria, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Dair, Junior Keith and James William Overfield; and a sister, Betty Jo Pyles.

Blanche Lillian Lazzell
Blanche Lillian Lazzell, 83, of Lazzell-Union Road, Maidsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at home.
She was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Parsons, daughter of the late Clarence and Clara Pennington Wilson.
She worked in WVU's Housekeeping Department at the Medical Center. She was a member of the former Bethel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two brothers, Herbert Wilson and William Wilson, both of Tucker County; and a sister, Hazel Poling, of Tucker County.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert C. Lazzell.

Wilbur Yeager
Wilbur W. Yeager, 79, of Grafton Road, Morgantown, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Gilmer County, son of the late Tracy S. and Marie Greenleif Yeager.
He was a World War II veteran. He was a retired carpenter and member of Carpenter's Local No. 476 in Fairmont. He worked 50 years as a carpenter at the businesses Baker and Coombs, and Coombs and Hemman, and received a 50-year pin for his years of service to both companies.
He is survived by his wife, Relia L. Law Yeager; two sons, Phillip A. Yeager and Michael J. Yeager, both of Grafton Road; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl D. and Terry A. Kisner, of Grafton Road; a grandson, Nathan Kisner; and two sisters, Bessie Wilmoth and Dessie Wolfe, both of Glenville.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Wanda Levelle
Wanda Levelle, 77, of Fairmont, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Albert and Osa Parrish Pitman.
She was a member of Boothsville Methodist Church, and was a church musician. She was also a DAC regent, DAR past regent and chaplain, and was the DFPA president. She was also a member of Meals on Wheels, and was a secretary and office representative for the Marion County Board of Education, and was a member of the School Service Personal Association.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Joseph Levelle; two sons and a spouse, David Henderson, of Fairmont, and Jeff and Jodi Henderson, of Barrackville; two daughters and spouses, Judith and Larry Betonte, of Fairmont, Joy and Ronald "Rocky" Marino, of Bridgeport; a daughter-in-law and spouse, Mary and Dan Pat, of Maryland; five stepchildren and spouses, Michael and Linda Levelle, Nancy and David Lee, John and Jeannie Levelle, Regina and Ron Humphrey, Tom and Nicki Levelle; a brother and spouse, James and Carol Pitman, of Wooster, Ohio; a sister, Janice Bingamon, of Fairmont; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Bright, Christina Fryham, Heather Henderson, Erin Golicek, Christopher, Jonathon, and Barret Betonte, Alexandria Marino, Emylea and Madison Henderson; three great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Harold J. "Bud" Ervin
Harold J. "Bud" Ervin, 77, of Kingwood, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in Morgantown.
He was born March 11, 1924, on the site of what is now Deep Creek Lake, Md., son of the late George R. and Virgie McCrobie Ervin.
He was Protestant. He was a World War II veteran who served in North Africa and Italy with the 473rd Infantry/Fifth Army. Among his decorations were a combat Infantry Badge and a Bronze Star. He was a coal miner before going to Baltimore, where he worked as an assembler for 30 years in the Baltimore assembly plant of General Motors. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union in Baltimore. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and an 11th generation American.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Helmick Ervin; four sons and a spouse, Buddy Ervin, of Kingwood, Rodney Ervin, and Randy and Vickey Ervin, all of Baltimore, and Daniel Ervin, of Arthurdale; a daughter, Rose Marie Ortez, of Ashtabula, Ohio; two stepsons and spouses, William and Donna Ingram, of Independence, and David and Jean Ingram, of Baltimore; a sister, Wanda Strahin, of Independence; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Ervin; a brother, Bruce Ervin; and three sisters, Bernice Grice, Lena Taylor, and Shirley Liston.

Julia Lewis
Julia Lewis, 95, of Morgantown, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 24, 1905, in Upshur County, daughter of the late Todd and Alice Smallridge Burr.
She is survived by a son, Donald B. Lewis, of Ravenswood; three stepdaughters, Ruby Lewis, Willa Wayts and Marie Sharpolisky, all of Buckhannon; a brother, Russell Burr, of Warren, Ohio; a sister, Eunice Aldstock, of Canton, Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Amos Aldstock, in 1927; her second husband, Goff Lewis, in 1971; a son, Robert Aldstock; a daughter, Catherine Cuppett; two brothers, Blair and Ross Burr; and four sisters, Celia Harris, Ruth Aldstock, Mary Crites and Retta Loudin.
Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Laurel Fork Cemetery, Buckhannon, with her grandson, Ronald Lewis, officiating.
George B. Stoker
George B. Stoker, 77, of Point Marion Road, Morgantown, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Morgantown, son of the late John A. and Louise Brank Stoker.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in the Combat Infantry. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a retired coal miner and had also been employed in the timber business.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna K. Frazee Stoker; a son and spouse, George Jr. and Caroline A. Stoker; two brothers, Robert K. Stoker, of Norris, Tenn., and Francis C. Stoker, of Crossville, Tenn.; two sisters, Phyllis Cimaswki, of Shinnston and Genevieve Niner, of Friendsville, Md.
He was also preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

Juanita Naomi Bissett
Word has been received of the death of Juanita Naomi Bissett, 83, of Baytown, Texas, formerly of Hundred, who died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Houston.
She was born Dec. 2, 1917, in Wadestown, daughter of the late Oscar and Georgia Antel Delaney.
She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Darlene and Dan Riter, of Houston, Texas, and Betty June and Marion Rose, of Fairmont; a son and spouse, Victor and Deborah Bissett, of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Chris Riter, Shaun Bissett, and Bruce and Brian Rose; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Wilson Bissett.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Wadestown Cemetery, with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating. Hunt Funeral Home in Hundred is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Feb. 28, 1921, at Rachel, son of the late Alex C. and Emma F. Ott Jones.
He was a retired truck driver for Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, and was based at the Bethel Park, Pa., meter shop. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Asiatic Pacific. He was a member of American Legion Earl Kiger Post 120, of Hundred; the Waynesburg (Pa.) Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 123, of Waynesburg.
He is survived by three daughters and spouses, Sharon Kay Bartlett, of Hundred, Emily Jane and Greg Stewart, of Burton, and Barbara Ann and Larry Benninghoff, of Hundred; seven grandchildren, Kevin Stewart, Sherry Stewart, Valeri Stewart, Angie Stewart, Brian Bartlett, Season Rush and Cody Benninghoff; two great-grandsons, Gregory Scott Stewart and Danny Stewart; and two sisters, Wilma Toothman, of Mannington, and Cussie Metheny, of Georgia.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hixenbaugh Jones, in 1989; two sisters, Virginia Stull and Mildred Efaw; a brother, Robert C. Jones; and a grandson, Danny Rush.
Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, from 2-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, with Evangelist Sam Bartrug and Pastor Larry Holtz officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jollytown Road, New Freeport, Pa.
Frances V. Swearengen
Frances Virginia Swearengen, 79, of Morgantown, formerly of Newburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital.
She was born March 27, 1922, in Newburg, daughter of the late Edmund Clay and Sadie Emerson Sapp.
She was a graduate of Fairmont State College with a degree in teaching and home economics, and received a master's degree from Westminster University in New Wilmington, Pa. She retired in 1991 with more than 25 years of service as a guidance counselor at Kimpton Middle School in Munroe Falls, Ohio. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family and friends and working with crafts and gardening. She was a member of the Wisteria Rebekah Lodge 817 in Struthers, Ohio and the Summit County Retired Teachers Association in the Stow School System.
She is survived by two sons, James Allen Swearengen, of Thornton, and Jerald Lynn Swearengen, of Oakland, Md.; a brother, Kells Sapp, of Newburg; a sister, Mary Grimes, of Newburg; three grandchildren, Patty Ann Swearengen, of Morgantown, Brenda Sue Moore, of Alabama, and Eric Lee Swearengen, of Oakland; and four great-grandchildren, Anthony Michael Paugh-Swearengen, of Tennessee, Courtney Lynn Swearengen and Kristie Ann Swearengen, both of Oakland, and Asatin Rose Moore, of Alabama.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bernard Swearengen, on April 16, 1946; and a daughter, Mary Frances Swearengen, Feb. 21, 1997.
Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home, Route 92, Newburg, from 4-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, with the Rev. Greg Kasler officiating. Burial will be at Damon Cemetery in Newburg.
