Delores G. Johnson, 75, of West Washington Street, Grafton, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
She was born March 5, 1926, in Grafton, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Gregg Kindcaid.
She worked in the housekeeping department of the Clarksburg Holiday Inn, and attended St. John's United Methodist Church, Grafton.
She is survived by three daughters and spouse, Vicki Johnson and her fiance, Roger Stone, of Grafton, Carol Hupp Haller, of Morgantown, and Barbara and John Auvil, of Lapeer, Mich.; a son, Frank E. Fisher, of Grafton; six grandchildren, Josha Johnson, Robert Fisher, both of Grafton, Christopher Haller, Franki Hupp, of Morgantown, Sherri Hupp Ballad and Terry Ballad, of Logan, and Rhonda and Jason Hamilton, of Daybrook; and a sister, Helen Kitchen, of Youngstown, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward B. Fisher; her second husband, Earnest Johnson; and two brothers, Leo Kincaid and John Kincaid.
Service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, with the Rev. H. Edgar Suite officiating. Burial will be in Woodsdale Memorial Park, Grafton.
Terry Ray Swihart
Terry Ray "Killer" Swihart, 47, of Tyrone Road, Morgantown, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, after a battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 28, 1954, son of the late Luther Newell and Darris Tallman Swihart.
He was a self-employed contractor for 25 years in the Morgantown area.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Keirns Swihart; a son and spouse, Terry Ray Jr., and Taelene Swihart, of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Taylor Ray Swihart, of Fla., and Teri Nicole Swihart; two sisters, Shirley Jean Darnell, of Gans, Pa., and Carolyn Lee Thompson, of Tampa, Fla.; five brothers, Donald James Swihart and Joseph Newell Swihart, both of Lake Lynn, Pa., David Earl Swihart and William Richard Swihart, both of Gans, and Samuel Neal Swihart, of Fairmont.

John Donald Clarkson
John Donald Clarkson, 85, of Lashley Street, Morgantown, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at MonPointe Continuing Care Center.
He was born Jan. 25, 1916, in Pittsburgh, son of the late James H. and Mary Agnes Hawkins Clarkson.
He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Star City. He was employed with WVU Creative Arts Center for over 32 yuears, retiring in 1980 as professor emeritus of art. He received a WVU Foundation Award to study art in Italy. Upon his return he received the Rhododendron Award for his paintings. He was also very active in the Art Division of the Monongalia Arts Center where he served as juror on many of their art shows.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Campbell Clarkson.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Thomas Clarkson.
Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Star City with the Rev. Father Carl E. Vaughna Lucille Bohon, of Terra Alta, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at home.
She was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Thomas, daughter of the late John and Olive Wiles Loscar.
She attended Terra Alta Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Russell R. Bohon; three daughters, Marie G. Lewis, of Crellin, Evelyn J. Perea, of Corinth, and Lucille J. Mullins, of Terra Alta; three sons, Roger Lee Bohon, of Terra Alta, Harry Clifford Bohon, of Eglon, and Allen Richard Bohon, of Mount Olive; a brother, Albert Loscar, of Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bohon, in 1992; three brothers, John, Glendy, and Leo Loscar; and an infant sister, Alberta Loscar.

Charles R. 'Red' Turner
Charles R. "Red" Turner, 66, of Markleysburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at home.
He was born Oct. 18. 1935, in Mount Braddock, Pa., son of the late Grant Thomas and Alice Gilroy Turner DeVault.
He was a principal associate with Turner Funeral Home in Markleysburg. He attended New Life Covenant Church of God. He was a charter member of the Markleysburg-Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Department. He was the former owner-operator of Spear Convalescent Home, C.R. Turner Trucking Co. and Turner Farms. He had also worked at Ralph Glisan Lumber Co. and Service Station, and was a former employee of Arnold Fike Construction Co. and Jess Maust Construction. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman and enjoyed looming tobaggan knit caps for children, which were shipped throughout the world.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly J. Spear Turner; six children and spouses, John R. "Rusty" and Pamela Turner, of Markleysburg, Diana Lucy and her companion, John, of Brownsville, Pa., Gerald E. "Jerry" and Wanda Turner, of Markleysburg, Rodney S. and Beverly Turner, of Markleysburg, Craig R. and Lohni Turner, of Markleysburg, Charles Bradley and Renee Turner, of Bruceton Mills; and 10 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Grant Turner; and his in-laws, John and Bessie Spear.

Mary Evalea Turoczy
Mary Evalea Turoczy, 68, of Grafton, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
She was born April 26, 1933, in Grafton, daughter of the late Charles W. and Ottie V. Moore Morris.
She was a 1951 graduate of Grafton High School. She was a member of Fetterman United Methodist Church and the ladies auxiliary of VFW Memorial City Post 3081, Grafton.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William J. "Bill" Turoczy; a daughter and spouse, Denise T. and Samuel J. Nicoletti, of Grafton; a son, Anthony W. Turoczy, of Manassas, Va.; a sister, Elizabeth Courtney, of Grafton; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Gladys Morris, of Grafton; six nephews and three nieces.
She was also preceded by a brother, Charles H. "Bud" Morris; a sister in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Courtney.

Jack 'Jackie' Favro
Jack "Jackie" Favro, 66, of Morgantown, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Burk, son of the late Emilio and Pasqualina Amprino Favro.
He was a retired bricklayer and owner of Jackie's Place. He was Catholic. He attended Masontown Valley High School.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia "Patsy" Gerard Favro, of Morgantown; two sons and a spouse, Jack Jr. and Margaret Favro, and Bradley Favro, all of Morgantown; two grandsons, Joshua Favro and Kyle Favro, of Morgantown; five sisters and spouses, Mary and Jack Farkas, and Della and Joe Olexa, all of Morgantown, Tilda and Jack Luzier, of Masontown, Rose Ann Michael, of Floral Park, N.Y., and Jo Ann Berrott, of Verona, Pa.; two sister-in-laws, Delores Anderson and Dorothy Gerard, both of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard M. Goodwin, 71, of Wilbourn Street in Morgantown, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Morgantown, son of the late Lester and Eva Gladys Hopkins Goodwin.
He attended Morgantown High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He was a 50-year member of the Brick Layers Union, owner of Goodwin Masonry and co-owner of Riverside Concrete Products Inc. He was a charter member of The Pines Country Club and Westminster Golf Club and Lehigh Acres, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Sherman Goodwin; a daughter and spouse, Holly G. and Michael T. Williams, of Bridgeport; three sons and spouses, Richard Lee and Mary Goodwin, of Winchester, Va., Scott Alan and Megan Goodwin, of Mount Morris, Pa., Gary Lester and Susan Goodwin, of Morgantown; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Billie) Ball, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother and spouse, Carroll Lester and Jean Goodwin, of Sumter S.C.; four grandchildren; Christopher Williams, Tyler Williams, Kaylin Goodwin and Brooke Goodwin.

Franklin 'Dave' Slagle
Franklin "Dave" Slagle, 58, of Oakland, Md., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1943, in Morgantown, son of Franklin D. Slagle and Melva Jean Wiles Slagle, of Kingwood.
Slagle taught chemistry at Southern High School prior to going to Garrett Community College, where he was a full professor of science and was serving as coordinator for Information Systems. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, a member of the Oakland-Mountain Lake Park Lions Club and Garrett Lodge No. 113 Knights of Pythias.
He is also survived by his wife, Carol Wolfe Slagle; a son and spouse, Michael D. and Christina Slagle, of Brunswick, Md.; a daughter, Rebecca A. Slagle, of Raleigh, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Ruth Wiles, of Kingwood; two brothers, Stephen C. Slagle, of Fairmont, and J. Scott Slagle, of Kingwood; a granddaughter, Hannah Michelle Slagle; and a niece and four nephews.

Frances Gump Wood, 75, of Waynesburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.
She was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Osage, daughter of the late Harry and Fern Tennant Copeland.
She was retired from Greenway Manufacturing Co., where she worked as a supervisor in the quality control department. She was a member of Oak View United Methodist Church, Waynesburg.
She is survived by a son and his spouse, Jesse Jr. and Barbara Gump, of Kings Mills, Ohio; two daughters and spouses, Jeanne and Michael Songer, of Washington, Pa., and Cathy and Al Schloemer, of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Frank Higgins, of Granville, Ohio, and Phillip Higgins, of Morgantown; three sisters, Hattie Foley, of Farmington, Laura June Petit, of Blacksville, and Genevieve Wilson, of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; four grandchildren, Elaine Cumberledge, Nicholas Gump, Patricia Schloemer and Russell Schloemer; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Jesse Gump; three brothers, Leon Copeland, Walter Copeland and John David Higgins; and two sisters, Rose Tennant and Ruby Higgins.

Mattie Olive Brady
Word has been received of the death Mattie Olive Brady, 86, of Lorain, Ohio, and formerly of Morgantown and New Geneva, Pa., on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Lorain.
She was born May 5, 1915, in Terra Alta, daughter of the late Alva and Elvada Wolfe Bolyard.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Morgantown.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Savina, of Elyria, Ohio, and Pamela McDonald, of Sandy Lake, Pa.; Edward Brady, of Norfolk, Va., and Robert Brady, of Warren, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Brady in 1983; a daughter, Rita Elaine Brady; a brother, Farris Bolyard; and a sister, Lelah Speelman Riggen.

Amanda Susan Miller Kuhn, 93, of Knob Fork, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in the Bialko's Personal Care Home, Waynesburg, Pa.
She was born Dec. 18, 1907, on Criswell Ridge near Wileyville, daughter of the late John W. and Christine Cain Miller.
She was a homemaker, a member of Hundred Church of Christ, and had worked for several years as manager and cook at Hastings Hotel, Hastings, Wetzel County.
She is survived by a sister, Geneva George of Pine Grove; and a brother, Leo Miller of Knob Fork.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd "Fidge" Kuhn, on July 27, 1977; four brothers, John Miller Jr., Wilbert Miller, Otis Miller and Albert Miller; and a sister, Hazel Moore.

She was born Feb. 22, 1912, in Promise City, Iowa, daughter of the late John and Treva Sharpe Bussey.
She was a homemaker.

Orland Vecchio
Orland Vecchio, 76, formerly of Morgantown, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Baltimore.
He was the son of the late Michele and Olimpia Vecchio.
He graduated from Morgantown High School. He served as a U.S. Army medic in Europe during World War II, and landed during the D-Day invasion at Normandy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Patricia J. Pill, formerly of Morgantown; two daughters, Cathy L. Schleupner, and Rebecca S. Hamer; two grandchildren; and a sister, Beauty Gregoria.
He was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Anthony, Louis, Joseph, Andy, Frank, Patsy and Ernest; and three sisters, Rosina, Yolanda and Tanaella "Nellie."
A Mass of Christian Burial was held the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Baltimore.
Joseph F. Schmidle Jr.
Joseph Franklin Schmidle Jr., 84, of Kingwood, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Windy Hill Manor in Kingwood.
He was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Kingwood, son of the late Joseph Franklin and Jenny Alice McCrobie Schmidle Sr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a retired industrialist, and a member of the Kingwood Lion's Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2391, in Kingwood, and the Preston Country Club. He was Presbyterian.
He is survived by a son and spouse, Joseph F. and Joyce Schmidle III, of Whetsell Settlement; a daughter and a spouse, Pamela and Harry Van Iderstine, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two brothers and spouses, Jim and Shirley Schmidle, of Kingwood, and Larry and Pat Cottrill, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; five sisters and spouses, Lou Sterling, of Kingwood, Martha and Bill Taylor, of Terra Alta, Helen and Kenneth Chidester, of Cuzzart, JoAnn and Jim Omernik, of Corvallis, Ore., and Katherine and Dr. Gilbert Martin, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Joseph F. Pearl Lahendro, 81, of Little Laurel Run community, Farmington, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001.
She was born May 14, 1920, at Duncan Mill Run community, Marion County, daughter of the late Harry and Jessie Strope McCracken.
She was a homemaker. She was Methodist.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Theodore Lahendro; three sons, Harry Lahendro and his companion, Norma Devericks, of Little Laurel Run, Mike Pitek, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Jack Pitek, of Rivesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Estelle and John McCoy, of Bowling Green; three sisters, Josephine Cokenheimer, of Fairmont, Rose Ice, of Mannington, and Helen Padzic, of No. 9 Community, Farmington; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack McCraken; and two sisters, Midge Cokenheimer and Betty Custer.

Henry Calvin Owens
Henry Calvin Owens, 76, of Newburg, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Grafton City Hospital.
He was born Sept. 14, 1925, in West End, son of the late Henry Oscar and Nevada Taylor Owens.
He used to assist his father with timber cutting, and loved his music, having enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo. He was a member of Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church.
He is survived by six brothers, Daniel Owens, of Moatsville, James Owens, of Tunnelton, Frederick Owens, of Worthington, Randall Owens, and Thomas Owens, both of Thornton, and Leo Owens, of Kingwood; five sisters, Mary Bolyard, of Newburg, Shirley Harris, of Tunnelton, Marguerite Shaver, of Atwater, Ohio, Naomi Pifer, of Tunnelton, and Norma J. Buscman, of Morgantown.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Owens, and Howard Owens; and a sister, Blondell Owens.

Helene Scott
Helene Jobes Scott, 90, of Blacksville, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at home.
She was born May 22, 1911, in Blacksville, daughter of the late John F.M. and Sarah Rebecca Calvert Jobes.
She was a retired teacher who taught at several schools in Monongalia County, including Core and Pentress. She was a 1931 graduate of Fairmont Normal School, now Fairmont State College. She also helped manage her husband's family business, Scott Family Clover Farm General Store, in Blacksville. She was a member of Blacksville Baptist Church and served several years as church pianist. She was an accomplished seamstress who also enjoyed knitting. She had a keen interest in genealogy and lived her entire life in the house she was born in.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret White, of Waynesburg, Pa.; a nephew, John Owen, of Waynesburg; three nieces, Sarah Sees, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Susan Bilonick and Thelma Yeager, both of Waynesburg; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James B. Scott, on March 21, 1983, whom she married June 17, 1938; and a sister, Edna Owen.

Barbara Jean Duncil
Barbara Jean Duncil, 70, of Fairmont, Hoult Community, died Dec. 14, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 25, 1931, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Harry and Neva Elaine Morley Fleming.
She was a homemaker. She had worked for many years as a cook and waitress at the Parkway Restaurant in Fairmont. She graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1950, and was active with the reunion group. She attended the Hopewell United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing on the Cheat River. She was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Wesley Albert Duncil; three sons and a spouse, Thomas L. and Diane Duncil, of Fairmont, Ronald Gene Duncil, of Fairmont, and Leonard Duncil, Fairmont; a daughter, Neva Lloyd, of Fairmont; two brothers and spouses, John D. and Sandy Fleming, of Colorado, and Fred and Lois Fleming, of Meadowdale; seven grandchildren and spouses, Shawn Ramsey, of Pennsylvania, Steven and Kristi Ramsey, of Barrackville, Stacy Voyle and her fiance, Mike Pyecha, Thomas Duncil Jr., of Fairmont, Lisa and Richard King, of Fairmont; Daniel Duncil, of Fairmont, and Michael and Amanda Duncil, of Fairmont; and eight great-grandchildren, Joshua Ramsey, Aaron Ramsey, Taylor Thomas, Preston Duncil, Brianna Duncil, Patrick Duncil, Austin King and Blake King.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Fleming, and Kenneth Fleming; a great-grandson, Dalton King; and a son-in-law, Robert Lloyd.

John "Jack" Mundy
John "Jack" Mundy, 84, of Pittsburgh, died Friday, Dec. 14, at Monongalia General Hospital.
He is survived by two daughters and spouses, Marlene and John Matthews, of Pittsburgh, and Diane and Andrew Brozik, of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Brian Matthews, David Brozik and Andrew Brozik Jr; a great-grandson, Robert John Matthews; a brother, Daniel Mundy.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Debski Mundy and a brother, Frank Mundy.

Leslie "Jake" Satterfield
Leslie O. "Jake" Satterfield, 82, of West Main Street, Westover, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Mon Pointe Continuing Care Center.
He was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Brady, son of the late Clarence R. and Nellie K. Arnett Satterfield.
He retired from the Department of Energy in 1979. He also was a 30 year member of the Westover VFD, where he served as president. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, a lifetime social member of VFW Post 9916, of Westover, and was a member of American Legion Post 200 of Sattelite Beach, Fla.
He is survived by two stepsons, Fitz Kimbrew Jr., of Florence, Ky., and Jerry Lee Kimbrew, of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Mary E. Butler, of Westover, and Leona M. White, of Daytona, Fla.; and two brothers, Clarence R. "Jack" Satterfield, of Reedsville, and Jess D. Satterfield, of Elizabethtown, Ky.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Foley Satterfield, in 1994.
Graveside services will be held at Arnettsville Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, with the Rev. Brent Reed officiating. Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
