Franklin Paul Gregg Sr.
Franklin Paul Gregg Sr., 55, of Masontown, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at his home, after an extended battle with cancer. He was born July 19, 1946, in Masontown, a son of Catherine Biafore Gregg, of Masontown, and the late Joseph T. Gregg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired in 1995 with 31 years of service with Martinka Mines in Fairmont as an electrician and a mechanic, and was the founder of Gregg's Country Meats in Masontown. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1949 in Fairmont, Preston Lodge 90 AF&AM Order of the Eastern Star Rowlesburg Chapter 127, Morgantown Shrine Club, Mountaineer Patrol, a faithful member of the St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown, and volunteered with the Webster County Catholic Youth Work Group. He is also survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Graham Gregg; one son and fiance, Franklin Paul Gregg Jr., and Kelli McGinnis, of Masontown; three daughters, Lisa Gregg, of Masontown, Stacey Koontz and husband Paul, of Masontown, and Kristina Gower Kasiorek and husband David, of Morgantown; two granddaughters, Alex Gower and Megan Gower, both of Morgantown; one brother and spouse, John J. and Fern Gregg, of Reedsville; two sisters and spouses, Mary Jo and Bob Carpenter, and Rose Marie and Harold Snider, all of Masontown; his mother-in-law, Pauline Graham, of Kingwood; and a very special person, Douglas Johnson. Friends may call at the James G. Lobb Funeral Home, W.Va. 7, Reedsville, from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, with Father Vincent Segotta, C.P. as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery. Preston Lodge 90 AF&AM will conduct graveside services. A Prayer Vigil Service will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the funeral home. Th anks to the help of Hospice, we were able to fill his request of living his final days at home.

Linda T. Pompili
Linda T. Pompili, 53, of Fort Pierce, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce. She was born in Cumberland, Md., and was a resident of Fort Pierce for over one year, coming from Franklin County, Fla. She was a homemaker and a former professional singer. Survivors include her husband, Michael Pompili, of Fort Pierce; stepfather, David Hohmann, of Morgantown; sister-in-law, Catherine and husband, Arthur Hagner, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and one niece, Stacy Moore, of Stuart, Fla. She was predeceased by both parents, John and Margaret Twigg, and one son, John Scott Slonaker. Arrangements are under the direction of Choice Funeral Home, Stuart, Fla.

Ruth Gleitzman
Ruth Gleitzman, 85, of Roseland, N.J., died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, in St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. She was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Benjamin and Goldie Brosnick. Mrs. Gleitzman was an accounts receivable clerk at J.B. Williams in Clark, N.J., before retiring in 1971. Mrs. Gleitzman is survived by two sons, Stephen and Dr. David Gleitzman; David's spouse, Katy; and one grandson, Benjamin Gleitzman; a brother, Irving Brosnick; and a sister, Ethel Kievman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold Gleitzman, in 1991. Graveside services were held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, N.J. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002. Donations in Ruth's honor may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mildred A. Brown
Mildred A. Brown, 75, of Price Street, Granville, died Jan. 21, 2002, at home. She was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Brush Valley, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Kinder Bosio. She was a cook for various restaurants and a Baptist by faith. She is survived by her spouse, Thomas Brown; two sons, Patrick Russell, of Granville, and Mike and Amy Russell, of Tallmadge, Ohio; one sister, Pauline Godshalk, of Akron, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Jimmy Russell, Christina Russell, Jacob Pander and Natalie Pander. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Bosio; and two sisters, Katherine Lambis and Ellen Dias. Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, with Pastor Terry Hagedorn officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery.

Wilma D. Cook
Wilma D. Cook, 76, of Yale Place, Owensboro, Ky., died Tuesday Jan. 22, 2002, at her home. She was born in Muhlenberg County, Ky. She was a retired desk clerk for Quality Inn Motel. She was also Methodist. She is survived by two daughters, Julia Roncadori, of Athens, Ga., and Deborah Bucklew, of Morgantown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Evitts, of Owensboro, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Cook, who died March 24, 2001; and a son, Billy Cook, in 1995. Friends may call at James H. Davis Funeral Home, Owensboro, from 9-11 a.m., Thursday. Graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Depoy, Ky., at noon, Thursday, Jan. 24.

Otha H. Fazenbaker
Otha Howard Fazenbaker, 89, of Sabraton Avenue, Morgantown, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Morgan Manor. He was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Albright, Preston County, a son of the late Emerson and Rosie Turner Fazenbaker. He was a former member of the Bethlehem Church in Preston County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and four Bronze Stars. He was a former cabinet maker and had been employed with West Virginia University as a custodian at Brooks Hall. He was well known for 40 years for the produce he grew and sold locally on the Courthouse Square and also for the plants he raised and sold in the spring from his home on Sabraton Avenue. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eliza Jane "Jean" Fazenbaker; a daughter and spouse, Shirley Jean "Susie" and Stanley Shinkovich, of Bloody Run; three sons, Andrew and spouse Chris Fazenbaker, of Tyrone Road, David Fazenbaker, of Hornbeck Road, and Reuben and Martha Fazenbaker, of Gladesville; one sister, Edna Hayes, of Kingwood; two brothers, Dale Fazenbaker, of Morgantown, and Clyde Fazenbaker, of Arthurdale; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie, Hattie, and Ruth Fazenbaker. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from noon Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, until the 1 p.m. funeral services, with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Veterans National Cemetery in Pruntytown, with full military graveside rites.

Jeffrey Edward Lewis
Jeffrey Edward Lewis, 31, of Corinth, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at home. Arrangements are incomplete, under the direction of Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta.

Robert Clayton Matchett
Robert Clayton Matchett, 78, of Whitehall, Ohio, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Cincinnati, Ohio, while recuperating from a hip fracture. Born in Van Voorhis, Monongalia County, on March 12, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Mary Hamilton Matchett. He was an aircraft engineer retired from the Rockwell Corp. after 31 years of employment. He served in the Army Air Force and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, as well as an avid golfer, pilot and traveler in the western United States. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Ann Matchett, of Cincinnati, and Patricia Matchett Browning, of Hillsboro; a son-in-law, William Browning Jr.; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Marie Wolfe Matchett, and a brother, Richard Hamilton Matchett. He has donated his body to the Ohio State University School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held in Whitehall, Ohio, at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to Boys Town in Lincoln, Neb., or to the National Federation of the Blind. Arrangements are by Schoedinger East Chapel, Columbus, Ohio.

L. Ted Moore
L. Ted Moore, former faculty member in the Department of Industrial Engineering at West Virginia University, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born June 6, 1939, in Sweetwater, Texas, the son of Jimmie and the late Winston Moore. Prior to coming to WVU in 1976, he taught at South Texas Junior College and the University of Houston in Houston. He retired as professor of industrial engineering in 1997. A 1957 graduate of Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas, he earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Abilene Christian College; a master's degree in physics from the University of Houston and a Ph.D in applied mathematical sciences from Rice University, Houston. His many interests included sports events, listening to music, reading and oil painting. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlene, of Morgantown; his mother and stepfather, Jimmie and Joe Moore, of Abilene; his son, Tom, of Baltimore; and a brother, Tim, of Abilene. He was preceded in death by his father, Winston "Slim Willet" Moore, in 1966. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held at a later date in Voss, Texas, at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.

Josephine Cassella
Josephine Viglianco Cassella, 80, of Fairmont Road, Westover, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at her home. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, with a vigil service to be held at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass with Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, with Father Colombo Bandiera as celebrant. Burial will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.
