Ricky Edward Hagerman, 49, of Ikes Fork, WV passed away Tuesday July 29, 2008 at his home.
He was a coal truck driver.
He was born March 8, 1959 a son of Otis Hagerman of Bradshaw, WV and Loraine Stivic of Deerfield Beach, FL. Those preceding him in death are two brothers J D Hagerman and Alvie Justice. Survivors include two daughters Latasha Stiltner and husband Charlie and Kayla Hagerman all of Hanover, WV; two sons Ricky E. Hagerman, Jr. and wife Stacey of Wilmington, OH and Donald Hagerman and wife Jackie of Welch, WV; two grandsons Caleb Stiltner and Cayden Hagerman and a grandson on the way; two granddaughters Caitlyn Hagerman and Chloe Hagerman; his companion Reva Horn; step-mom Irene Hagerman; ex-wife Velvie Hagerman; siblings Rita Ferrell, Thomas Hagerman, Tony Hagerman, Rhonda Endicott, Brenda Sparks, Karen Moore, Tonya Hagerman, Adam Hagerman, Crystal Hagerman and Christina of FL; several nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday August 2, 2008 at Ritter Hollow Independent Church of God in Avondale, WV with Bro. Lee Ferrell officiating. Joan Mason, 71, of Stone, KY, formerly of Parkersburg, WV passed away Monday August 11, 2008 at Williamson Memorial Hospital to join our Heavenly Father and take her place as an Angel of our Lord. Joan was born March 12, 1938 at Burning Springs, WV. She was a daughter of the late Charles Hubert and Juanita Menefee Mason of Parkersburg, WV. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a laborer for 25 years. She was also preceded in death by a brother Bernard Mason also of Parkersburg, WV. Joan is survived by two daughters Cheryl (Rodney) Conley of Parkersburg and Cindy Keene of McCarr, KY; three sons Roger Price, Eric Price and Ronnie Price all of Parkersburg; two brothers Clifford (Marge) Mason of Georgetown, TX and Butch (Zelma) Mason of Elizabeth, WV; a sister Pat (Virgil) Mason of Mineral Wells, WV; grandchildren Jeremy Charolton, Timothy Charlton, Megan Conley and McKayle Price all of Parkersburg and Tyler, Dustin and Austin Keene of McCarr, KY, and Jonathan (Beth) Cleary of Williamson, WV; eight great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday August 14, 2008 at the Tamcliff Tabernacle with the Rev. Bill Browning and Gerald Marshingill officiating. Martha Ellen "Big Mom" Elkins, 86 went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 28, 1921 in Big Shoal, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Leonard and Cynthia Anna Fife Steffey. "Big Mom" as everyone knew her loved visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, going to the beach and sitting on her front porch. She was a member of the New Life Community Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Mayfern Warricks, and Naomi Ruth; four brothers Claude Steffey, Charlie Steffey, Leon Steffey and Leonard Steffey Jr.; a son Jackie Elkins, and two grandsons Eddie Lee Fleenor and David Elkins. Survivors include her loving daughter Barbara Ann Fleenor and her husband Tommy of Oceana; sisters Eulah Sauter, Kay Horton and her husband Frank, Bonnie Adkins, Helen Smith and her husband George, Hannah Whisenant and her husband Bryant, Magdaline Scalf , and Loretta Harvel; brothers James Steffey and his wife Margaret, and John Pitts Steffey and his wife Wanda; a grandson T.J. Fleenor of Oceana; a granddaughter Pam Huff of Tazewell, VA; a great grandson Cody Newberry; many nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Pastor Jay Morgan officiating. She will be laid to rest in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, West Virginia. Friends may call from 6:00 - 9:00PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Gertrude Glaydia McKinney Hawley, 82, of Rockview, WV passed away Thursday August 21, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. She was born March 23, 1926 in Herndon, WV, a daughter of the late Ballard and Alice McKinney. Gertrude was a retired florist having worked many years at Casteele's Flower Shop in Pineville. Her husband Levi Cleveland Hawley and a daughter Sylvia Lavern Yanov Hawley also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters Catherine Ann Hawley of Charlotte, NC and Dora Lynn Cline of Rockview, WV; two sons Edward A. Hawley and wife Mary F. of Catlett, VA and Dennis Ray Hawley and wife Cynthia A. of Charleston, WV; seven grandchildren Kimberly, Michael and Levi Shadrick, Jeffery Dennis Meadows, Heather Jo Kirk, Amie BluBlu Mason and Rae Ann Smith; a sister Clara Lusk of Lexington, VA; and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV, with Minister Ricky Proffitt officiating. Clarence Richard "Pete" "Scooby" Evans, 55, of Jesse, WV entered into Heaven on August 17, 2008 from his home. He was born January 24, 1953 at Cyclone, WV a son of the late Robert and Minnie Blankenship Evans. He was also preceded in death by his son Brian Keith Evans, that he loved and missed dearly and was taken too soon, and a brother Billy Perry. Scooby was a member of the UMWA Local 7604 having worked for Eastern Associated Coal Company for 19 years at the Kopperston # 2 mine. He attended the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church and was employed by the WV Department of Highways for the last 9 years and 11 months. Pete enjoyed 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren and family and going to church. Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years Judy Dean Evans; two loving sons Richard Evans and wife Schurla of Kopperston, and Adam Evans of Jesse; a loving brother Charles Evans and wife Patricia of Cyclone; a loving sister Helen Daniels of Neibert; two loving grandsons Brian and Brandon; two precious granddaughters Breanna and Bethany; several special nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday August 21, 2008 at the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jackie Grimmett and Rev. James Walker officiating.

Lisha "Lisa" Blankenship Hall, 45, of Lynco, WV passed away Wednesday August 27, 2008 at her home. She was born May 16, 1963 in Mullens, WV a daughter of Bruce and Freda Mae Massey Blankenship, Jr.. Lisa was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband Dennis James Hall; a daughter Chasity Dawn Whitson and husband Herbert Lee, Jr. of Bristol, VA; a son Joshua Thomas Gene Pennington and wife Geneva of Lynco, WV; a sister Tina Marie Toler and husband Eric of Oceana, WV; two brothers Ricky Lee Blankenship and wife Valarie Shawn of Kopperston, WV and Tommy Blankenship and wife Ella Mae of Lynco, WV; five grandchildren Herbert Lee Whitson III, William Bruce Whitson, Matthew Wyatt Whitson, Joshua Thomas Grat Pennington and Meagan Renee Hicks; and a host of other loving family and friends. Doris Lee Shumate Tolliver, 62, of Mount Hope, WV, formerly of Ravencliff, WV passed away on Wednesday August 27, 2008 at Raleigh General Hospital.
Doris was born July 4, 1946 in Ravencliff, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Hurley W. and Delphia E. Short Shumate. Her grandparents Tollison and Hattie Mae Tilley Shumate also preceded her in death along with a sister Deloris Edwards and a brother Daniel "Buddy" Shumate. She was a homemaker and a 1964 graduate of Glen Rogers High School. Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Renee` Cook and husband Mark of Beckley, WV; a son Kevin Dean Tolliver and wife Sherry Denise of Goldsboro, NC; three sisters Dorothy Hattie Duncan Lafferty and husband John Lewis of McGraw, WV, Evelyn Wills and husband Ronald Bryant of MacClenny, FL and D. Mae Nolley and husband George of Lynchburg, VA; a brother David Hurley Shumate and wife Sandra C. of McGraw, WV; two grandchildren Jay Edwin and Kayla Nichole Pouttu; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday August 30, 2008 at the Pine Grove Church, Ravencliff, WV with Pastor Dewayne Hurd officiating. Doris will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Debra Lee "Debbie" Belcher, 50, of Lynco, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 30, 2008 at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, WV after a long illness. Debbie was born July 6, 1958 in Morganton, North Carolina, a daughter of Cora Lee Stamey Harvey of Lynco, WV and the late James Howard Harvey of Lynco, WV. She was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle at Kopper City Bottom and a 1976 graduate of Oceana High School. Also preceding her in death was her maternal grandparents Walter and Elsie Stamey of Morganton, NC and paternal grandparents Frank and Lilly Harvey of Lillydale, WV. In addition to her mother survivors also include her loving husband Edward Dewayne Belcher; a sister Eloise Thomas of Burnsville, NC; her loving church family and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Kopper City Bottom, with Pastor Ricky Proffitt officiating. Debbie will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM Wednesday September 3, 2008 in Burke Memorial Park in Morganton, NC. Randy Shawn Harvey, 31, of Rock View, WV, went home on Tuesday January 27, 2009 at his home. He was born November 16, 1977 in Beckley, WV, a son of Sheryl Lovins Fritz of Rock View, WV and Randy "Hawkeye" Harvey of Hanover, WV. He was a 1996 graduate of Baileysville High School, a former coal truck driver and also worked on gas drilling rigs. His grandparents Roger and Betty Harvey preceded him in death. Survivors also include a son Chandler Harvey of Lynco, WV; two brothers Brandon Buckland and Eric Buckland both of Beckley, WV; two sisters Amanda (Aaron) Justice and Danielle Harvey all of Hanover, WV; grandparents Willard and Ruth Prichard Lovins of Rock View, WV; step-mother Serita Harvey of Hanover, WV; and a host of loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday January 31, 2009 at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor William Wagner officiating. Randy Shawn will be laid to rest in the Harvey Family cemetery, Cedar Creek, WV. Friends may call from 6 - 9:00 PM Friday January 30, 2009 and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Doris Jean "Jeanie" Altizer Hurley, 58, of Pineville, WV passed away on Sunday January 18, 2009 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. She was born January 8, 1951in Pineville, WV, a daughter of the late Taney and Rosemary Bowning Altizer. Jeanie was a 1970 graduate of Pineville High School and loved doing needlepoint and crochet as her hobbies, and her little dog "Wags". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Annabell Goode. Surviving is her husband of 26 years John K. Hurley of Pineville, WV; three sisters Mattie (Harold) Browning of Springfield, OH, Earlene (Bob) Bannister and Sue (Larry) Duty all of Pineville, WV; two brothers Franklin and Taney "Ray" both of Huntington, WV; her husbands brothers Lee and Donald and their families; several nieces and nephews who lovingly always called her "Aunt Nee Nee" and will be missed by them deeply; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday January 21, 2009 at the Cook Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville, WV, with Rev. Bob Bannister officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until service time at the church. Jeanie will be laid to rest in the Beaver cemetery at Baileysville, WV. Macie E. Elkins Harless, 85, of Oceana / Crouches Farm, WV left this life on Saturday January 10, 2009 at Sunbridge Pine Lodge Care and Rehabilitation Center, Beckley, WV. Macie was born November 7, 1923 in Gilbert, WV, a daughter of the late Johnny and Verda Harrison Elkins. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, the former owner of the Baileysville Supermarket and The Market in Oceana. Her husband Edward "Bino" Harless also preceded her in death along with three brothers John, Jr., Jimmy and Boyd Elkins. Macie had two pets that she dearly loved Pugsy and Little Bit. She leaves behind a son Edward "Ed" Harless, Jr. and wife Freda of Crouches Farm, WV; three grandchildren Joyel Harless of Huntington, WV, Parrish Harless of Huntington, WV and Lisa Harless of Morgantown, WV; a great granddaughter Cassie Worley of Beckley, WV; a sister Mildred "Millie" Glover and husband Dewey of Groveport, OH; her caregivers Angela Shumate, Juanita Morgan Cook and Mr. And Mrs. Jerry Clay; a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Slim was born April 23, 1935 in Elizabethton,Tennessee, a son of the late Earl and Cleat Riddle Dykes. His wife Laura Eden Dykes also preceded him in death, along with three sisters Dorothy, Ermma and Kate and four brothers Grover, Arvil, Clarence and Dennis.
