Kampton “Kernie”Cook, 71, of Pineville, WV, passed away June 10, 2011. He was born
April 17, 1940 in Glen Rogers, WV, a son of the late Alvin Arnold and Bessie Bringer Cook.
Also preceding him in death a brother Alvin J. Cook; four sisters Mary Treadway, Irene
Strarder, Maxine Lolich and Ruby Daraban. Survivors include his girlfriend Andrea Taylor;
one son Buddy Ray Cook of Deleware; one brother Edward Boyd Cook of New Richmond,
WV; four grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held 12:

with pastor Dewayne Hite officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens,

Earl Coy Adkins, 34, of Lynco, WV, passed away June 8, 2011 in Lynco, WV. He was
born May 3, 1977 in Welch, WV, a son of the late Larry Adkins and Karen Adkins.
Survivors include two brothers Larry Keith Adkins, Jr. and wife Susie of Ovapa, WV and
Donald Lee Adkins of Huntsville, WV. There will be a private vistitation followed by
graveside services will be held at Adkins and Jett cemetery, Ovapa, WV. The family is being served

Jerry Douglas Lambert, 46, of New Richmond, WV, passed away June 13, 2011 from
injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born November 17, 1964 in Mullens,
WV, a son of Edward Preston and Mary Jane Halsey Lambert of New Richmond, WV. Also
preceding him in death was an infant sister Rhonda Jane Lambert. Survivors include his
father and mother Edward and Mary Jane Halsey Lambert of New Richmond, WV; wife
Debbie McGraw Lambert of Mooresville, NC; one sister Debra Jennings of Mooresville,
NC; two brothers Bobby Lambert and wife Kay of Eccles, WV and Wayne Lambert and wife
Diane of Kegley, WV; nieces and nephews Bobby (Stephanie) Lambert, Misty (Wesley)
Palmer, Brandon Lambert, Ashley Jennings and Donnie Jennings; best friend Eugene
Dunford of Matheny, WV; several uncles, aunts and a host of other loving family and

Jackson Curve cemetery, New Richmond, WV with the Rev. Larry England officiating.

Bobby Watson Harless, 73, of Glen Fork, WV, passed away June 10, 2011 in Raleigh
General Hospital following a short illness. He was born November 9, 1937 at Cyclone, WV,
the son of the late Milne Harless and Fay (Brown) Harless Perry. He was a retired coal
miner having worked at Eastern Associated’s Harris and Light Foot mines and a member of
the UMWA. Bobby was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean War a member of
the Disabled American Veterans, VFW, American Legion and of the Wyoming County
Veterans Honor Guard. Also preceding him in death were two brothers Jackson Perry of
Cyclone and Bill Perry of Martinsburg, WV; a step dad Archie Perry of Cyclone and a step
mother Rose Harless of Bridge City, Texas. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years
Sharon Brooks Harless of Glen Fork, WV; two daughters Kimberly D. Lafferty and her
companion Carmie Estep Jr. of Glen Fork, WV and Lisa Ortiz and husband Johnny of Hope
Mills, NC; a granddaughter Jasmine Mackenzie Lafferty of Glen Fork, WV and a grandson
Steven Browning of Hope Mills, NC; a sister Wanda Sue Toler of Sutton, WV; a brother
James Perry of Smithfield , VA and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services
will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday June 15, 2011 in the Chapel of Stafford Family
Funeral Home, Lynco, with the Rev. Ernest Francis officiating. Friends may gather with the

Billy Odell Carbaugh, 38, of Crany, WV passed away on Tuesday June 14, 2011 at his
home. Billy was born March 21, 1973 in Mullens, WV. He was a mechanic and loved
working on vehicles. His father Harold Odell Blankenship, step father Teddy Rollins and a
special niece Nyrmal Ann Daugherty preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving
wife Angel Marie McClaine Carbaugh; three daughters Jasmine Nicole Hall of Pineville,
WV, Ashiley Carbaugh and Sabrina Kellie Carbaugh both of Crany, WV; a son Billy Odell
Carbaugh, Jr. of Pineville, WV; a special nephew Jacob Sams; and special nieces Sarah
Sams and Marsha Daugherty both of Oceana, WV; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday June 20, 2011 in the Chapel
of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6
– 9:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. In keeping with Billy’s wishes he will be

Billy Joe Mullins, 77, of Garland, WV was called home by the Lord on Sunday June 19,
2011 after an extended illness. He was born January 25, 1934, a son of the late Bob
Mullins of Panther, WV and Pearl Steele Mullins Justice of Roderfield, WV. Billy worked as
a coalminer and was a member of the Church of Zion in Ikes Fork, WV. He enjoyed
spending time with his family and friends. Also preceding him in death was a daughter
Shirley Mullins; a son Tiny Mullins; a granddaughter Amanda Tiny Mullins and three sisters
Gladys Goins, Daisy Belcher and Marie “Reenie” Burks. Those left to cherish his memory
include his wife Vonnie Roberts Mullins and daughter Courtney Mullins of the home; five
sons Thurman Mullins of Sandy Huff, WV, Leonard Mullins and wife Brenda of Hensley,
WV, Clinton Mullins and companion Delena Steele of Garland, WV, Chris Mullins and wife
Angie of Iaeger, WV and Charles Mullins and wife Sabrina of Iaeger, WV; three daughters
Gracie Kennedy and husband Mike of Iaeger, WV, Drema Delong and husband Keith of
Milebranch, WV and Rita Chaffins of Wilmore, WV; a sister Norma Seabolt of Kentucky; a
special aunt Alice Osborne of Iaeger, WV and granddaughter Jessica Mullins of North
Carolina who he helped raise and who assisted in his care during his illness; several half

Dianna Jean Fox, 60, of Lynco, WV passed away on Wednesday June 22, 2011 in
Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born March 27, 1951 in Iaeger, WV, a
daughter of Don Woodridge of Crossville, TN and the late Mary Parks Woodridge. Dianna
was a loving wife and a member of Promise Land Church in Oceana, WV. Survivors
include her loving husband William E. “Bill” Fox; two sisters Teresa Wykle of Crossville,
TN and Sue Woodridge of Cleveland, OH; a brother Donnie Woodridge and wife Patty of
Crossville, TN; special friends David and Judy Johnson of Clear Fork, WV; and a host of
other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday June 27,

Joseph Michael “Joe” Cassell, 33, of Glen Daniels, WV, formerly of Lynco, WV went
home to be with Jesus Christ on Monday June 27, 2011 from injuries sustained in a mining
accident at Rhino Eastern mine on Bolt Mountain, where he was a crew leader. He was
born March 25, 1978 in Man, WV, the son of Richard Stephen “Steve” and Kathy Sheryl
Brown Cassell of Lynco, WV. He was a proud coal miner, who loved his work. Joe played
football, basketball, and baseball in high school and was the captain of each team his senior
year. He loved to play golf, especially on Mondays with his nephew Chase. He was a 1997
graduate of Oceana High School and captain of the 1997 All-State Baseball team. Joe
played college baseball at Fairmont State and three years at WVU Tech and was team
captain his senior year. He was a 2001 graduate of WVU Tech with a Physical Education
Degree and served one year as a graduate assistant at WVU Tech. He was well respected
as a basketball official having worked mostly in Wyoming and Raleigh Counties officiating at
all levels and was loved greatly by the players. He was a yearly participant in Relay for Life
in Memory of his aunt Frances. He attended the Clear Fork Valley Baptist Church and a
member of the Black Diamond Basketball Board. He was saved and ready to meet the lord,
his life verse was Philipians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
me”. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers John Ken Brown and Richard Hillard
Cassell, grandmother Arthel Oma Daniels Cassell, uncle Teddy Gibson, aunt frances Brown
Kanott, step grandfather Joe Lusk and a special aunt Lora Cline. Survivors include his
loving parents Steve and Kathy Brown Cassell of Lynco; two sisters Renee Lynn Cook and
husband Eugene of Surveyor, WV, Mary Beth Gray of Roanoke, VA; grandmother Nancy
Lorine Brown Lusk of Lynco; nieces and nephews Michael Chase Cook, Abigail Marie Cook,
Samuel David Cook, Nicholas Tyler Gray and Jillianna Inez “Jill” Walker; special aunts and
uncles Teddy and Linda Toler of Kopperston, WV and Rodney and Kathy Fernandez of

Edward P. Lambert, 73, of New Richmond, WV passed away on Saturday July 9, 2011 in
Welch Community Hospital. He was born December 21, 1937 in McDowell County, WV, a
son of the late Garrett H. and Cora Mae Sizemore Lambert. Also preceding him in death
were a son Jerry Douglas Lambert, an infant daughter Rhonda Jane Lambert, three sisters
Peggy Faulkner, Kathy Harper and Margaret Booth, and two brothers Johnny Ray Lambert
and Garrett David Lambert. He was a retired UMWA coal miner having worked for many
years at Console’s Itmann Mine. Survivors include his wife Mary Jane Halsey Lambert of
New Richmond; a daughter Debra Jennings of Mooresville, NC; two sons Bobby Lambert
and wife Kay of Eccles, and Wayne Lambert and wife Diane of Kegley; six grandchildren
Bobby (Stephanie) Lambert, Misty (Wesley) Palmer, Brandon Lambert, Ashley Jennings and
Donnie Jennings; six great-grandchildren Bryson Jennings, Aiden Lambert, Alyssa Lambert,
