James “Jimmy” Harold Maynard, Jr., 54, of Crany, WV passed away on Monday January 31, 2011 at
his home. He was born April 5, 1956 in Man, WV, a son of James Harold and Georgina “Gina” Ferrari
Maynard, Sr.. Jimmy was a coal miner having worked at Kopperston and Harris Mines, a member UMWA
Locals 7604 and 1503, and a US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Tammy Lynn Velos
Maynard; son Thomas Chad Maynard; and a special uncle Alfred Gibson. Survivors include a son James
Harold Maynard, III and companion Rebecca Lamb of Crany, WV; a granddaughter Tammy Ann Maynard
of Crany, WV; his parents James Harold and Georgina “Gina” Ferrari Maynard, Sr. of Lillyhaven, WV; a
sister Tina Maynard Redden and husband Billy of Oceana, WV; two brothers Johnny Josef Maynard and
wife Regina of Fayetteville, WV and Donald Maynard and wife Charlene of Oceana, WV; nieces and
nephews Misty Willard, Christy Plumley, Danelle Perez, John Maynard, Jr., Ashley Clark, Shannon Redden
and Clifford Blankenship; a special nephew Kody Blackburn; great nieces and nephew Allyson Plumley,
Dillon Blankenship and Mercedes Blankenship; an uncle Ronald Lee Maynard and wife Merle; and a host
of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday February 5, 2011 in
the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens,

Pansy Morgan Keneda, 91, of Simon, WV went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and
to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven on Friday January 28, 2011 from Raleigh General Hospital
following a short illness. She was born September 17, 1919 at Hannah Branch, Sunhill, WV, a daughter of
the late Milty and Emma Walker Morgan. Pansy was the last surviving member of her family. Mrs. Keneda
was a homemaker and a founding member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church for 62 years. She
was also preceded in death by her husband Rev. Landon Keneda; a son Oscar Brian Keneda; seven
brothers Kelly, Azzie, Powell, Alex, George, Willie and Lee Morgan; eight sisters Louisa Hatfield, Lenore
Belcher, Sarah, Vida, Virgie, Gladys and Betty Morgan and Millie Morgan Kennedy; and a son-in-law
Clifford Walls. She was also a cook at Long Branch Elementary School. Those left to love and cherish her
memory and to mourn her passing include a son Lonzo (Edna) Kennedy of Avondale, AZ; three daughters
Juanita (Clayton) Dunigan of Simon, WV, Kathy (Ron) Walls of Simon, WV and Donna (Lonnie)
Blankenship of Saulsville, WV; six grandchildren Tammy (Arvil) Toler of Simon, WV, David (Melissa) Walls
of Clear Fork, WV, Paula (Eric) Massey of Goodyear, AZ, Eugene (Jamie) Blankenship of Saulsville, WV,
Amanda Ferguson of Glendale, AZ, and Landon (Brittany) Blankenship of Saulsville, WV; her nine great
grandchildren Thomas Toler, Olivia Walls, Dedan, Morgan and Makenzie Massey, Teghan Ferguson,
Hannah and Hayden Blankenship and expecting Hope Blankenship; and a host of other dear family and

Jerry Franklin Brinkley, 59, of Lynco, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. He was born
October 9, 1951 in Maryville, TN a son of the late James Henderson Brinkley and Alice P. “Pat” Hall
Brinkley. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Oceana High School, a coal miner having 36 years of service and
member of the UMWA. In addition to his father a sister Jama Elizabeth Massengill and a brother James
Larry Brinkley also preceded him in death. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and had an
Associates Degree in Mining. Survivors include his loving wife Teresa J. Blackburn Brinkley; his mother
Alice P. “Pat” Hall Brinkley of Maryville, TN; a daughter Tessa Brinkley of Charleston, WV; a step-son Josh
Blackburn of Lynco, WV; a sister Judy Brinkley Laxton and husband Larry of Mobile, AL; nieces and
nephews Kris Massengill, Natasha, Maeghan and Keylan Laxton; special friend Araya Sunshine Graham;
and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM on Friday, January

Douglas Gordon Kinser, 78, of Cyclone, WV went to be home with his heavenly Father on Wednesday
January 19, 2011 in Raleigh General Hospital after a long illness. He was born September 24, 1932 in
Beckley, WV, a son of the late Jake and Gladys Browning Kinser. He was a US Army Korean War
Veteran and a member of the VFW. In addition to his parents, his loving wife Shelby Chapman Kinser also
preceded him in death along with a son-in-law Jerome JC Cook. Those left to cherish his memories are
three daughters Dolores DeeDee Cook of Kopperston, WV, Dreamia Kilgore of Accoville, WV and Cindi
Dawn Kinser of Cyclone, WV; a son Douglas Michael Kinser of Kopperston, WV; a granddaughter who he
helped to raise Andrea Kinser Williams of Accoville, WV; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren;
a special Aunt Barbara “Cricket” Chapman of Mallory; and a host of other loving family and friends who he
loved dearly. Dad was a special man who never met a stranger. He was our rock and sunshine and we

Donald Gene Miller, 62, of Brier Creek, WV, passed away on Monday January 17, 2011 at CAMC
General, Charleston, WV. He was born November 20, 1948 in Baileysville, WV a son of Vaudaline Cook
Miller of Brenton, WV and the late Warren Gene Miller. Donald was a carpenter, a US Army Vietnam
Veteran, member of the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard, DAV and the VFW. In addition to his
father a daughter Regina Lyn Ennis and a sister Tamara Jo Miller preceded him in death. Survivors
include his loving wife Brenda Lynn Patrick Miller; a daughter Connie Peters, granddaughter Brenda Jean
Ennis; grandson Michael Scott Collins; his mother Vaudaline Miller of Brenton; sisters Caroline Johnson of
Front Royal, VA, Rita Miller of Gainsvillle, FL and Debroah Hess of Manassas, VA; several nieces and

Virginia Louise Brane Couch, 84, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Tuesday January 18, 2011 at
Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born November 20, 1926 in Marion, IN a daughter of the
late Roger and Emma Voris Brane. She retired following many years as an assembler for the NASA –
Space Agency. Her husband Frank Elno Couch, Sr. also preceded her in death. Survivors include a
daughter Kimberly Jo Cobb of Oceana, WV; two sons Frank Elno Couch, II of Live Oak, FL and Thomas
Roger Couch of Honolulu, HI; four grandchildren Zacharia, Melanie, Olen and Nicole; three great
grandchildren Darnell, Adrianna and Austin; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with
Virginia’s wishes there will be no services and she will be cremated.

Gayther Arvus Johnson, 75, of Lynco, WV, passed away on Monday January 17, 2011. He was born
January 22, 1935 in Hemphill, WV a son of the late Gayther William and Nora Beatrice Mullins Johnson.
Arvus was a retired coal miner and a US Army Korean War Veteran. His brother Johnny Johnson also
preceded him in death. Survivors include four daughters Ann Marcum of Alabama, Donna Fox and Diana
Hayes both of Florida, and Sherry Taylor of Chicago, IL; four sons Joe Johnson of Chicago, IL, Rick
Johnson of Lynco, WV, Shawn Johnson of Tennessee, and Tony Johnson of Oceana, WV; three sisters
Nancy Havert of Beckley, WV, Erdene Hiller of Colonial Beach, VA, and Debbie Wilson of Richmond,
VA; three brothers Doug Johnson and Bill Johnson both of Lynco, WV and Mike Johnson of Beckley,
WV; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday January 22, 2011 in the Chapel of Stafford
Family Funeral Home with Rev. William Cook officiating. Arvus’s cremains will be laid to rest in the Cook

Robert Aaron Tilley, 55, of Cyclone, WV, passed away on Wednesday January 12, 2011 at Logan
Regional Medical Center. He was born February 13, 1955 in Oceana, WV, a son of the late Harvey
Leonard and Grethel Parsley Tilley. He was a US Marine Veteran. Survivors include his loving wife
Kathleen Lusk Tilley; two daughters Amanda Vorhees of Roanoke, VA and Deidra Tilley of Welch, WV;
two sons Richard Lane Paynter and wife Karina of Lynco, WV and Benjamin Marvin Paynter and wife
Kaitlin of Cyclone, WV; three grandchildren and two special grandchildren Jaiden Cline and Karsyn
Paynter; a sister Diana Fox of Kopperston, WV; two brothers Donnie Tilley of Kentucky and Mike Tilley
of Tennessee; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on

Bobby Dale Carothers, 46, of Kopperston, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 4,
2011 in CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV. He was born October 5, 1964 in Mullens, WV a son of
Bob Eugene and Lillie Gladys Lester Carothers. Bobby attended the Bible Baptist Church, worked for Big
Justice Construction and was a member of IBEW Local Union number 317. He loved the outdoors, being
with family, friends and listening to Bluegrass Gospel music. Bobby was a 1983 graduate of Pineville High
School. He was preceded in death by a son Bobby Dale Carothers II and a sister Dreama Carothers.
Those left to enjoy his memory are his parents Bob and Gladys Carothers of Keyrock; his loving wife of 26
years Martha Carothers; two sons still at home Alston and Alex, his eldest son Ryan Carothers and wife
Chandra of McGraws; a very special grandson Zane Carothers of McGraws; sisters Ruth O’Neal of Turkey
Creek, Linda Cable of Keyrock and Jeannie Cook and husband Tommy of Jesse; and a host of other

Jimmy Lee Craft, 73, of Clear Fork, WV passed away on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at his home.
He was born August 7, 1937 in Christian, WV, a son of the late Robert Lee and Zola Opal Trent Craft.
Jimmy was a US Army Veteran, a Wyoming County Deputy Sheriff for 18 years and a member of the
Fraternal Order of Police. He loved sitting on the porch, visiting with family and friends, camping and
watching NASCAR races. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Martha
Anna Hatfield Craft; a son Tennis Hatfield; an infant daughter Betty Carol Craft; brothers Donald, Freddy
and Robert; sisters Shelby Jean Craft and Brenda Craft Walters; and step mother Fannie Short Craft.
Survivors include a daughter Lisa (William Ray) Conley of Denver, NC; four sons Tommy Osborne of
Oceana, Rodney (Lawonne) Hatfield, Jimmy “Duke” Craft, Jr. all of Clear Fork, and George William
(Teresa) Craft of Lynco, WV; four sisters, Connie Jordan, Opal Hatfield, Patty Green and Judy Mason; two
brothers John Craft and Richard “Mick” Belcher; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and a
host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday December 20,
2010 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Timmy Brewster officiating.
