Larry Clifton Halsey, 77, of Pineville, WV passed away on Saturday
December 10, 2011 at the Beckley Veterans Administration Medical
Center. He was born May 7, 1934 in Pineville, WV a son of the late Lacy
and Eva Buchanan Halsey. He was a US Air Force Veteran having
served in Alaska and Korea. He was a Tool and Die Maker having retired
from Van Doren Corporation in Cleveland, OH and had lived in Pineville
for the last 15 years. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in
death by a sister Jean Wallen and a brother Alvin Halsey. Survivors
include four sisters Mary Lambert of Soak Creek, Linda Hamilton and
husband Clinton of Pineville, Sharon Johns and husband Jimmy of China
Grave, NC and Karen Lattie and husband Doug of Bluefield; two sons
Clifton Halsey and wife Linda and Jeff Halsey and wife Lovell all of
Gainsville, GA; five grandchildren; two aunts Cora Halsey of Pineville and
Marie Stiles of Glen Fork; and a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside
services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the
Jackson Curve cemetery, New Richmond, WV. He will be laid to rest
in the Jackson Curve cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the
Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Nephews will serve as
pallbearers. The family would like to thank the Beckley V.A. Medical
Center staff and especially the ICU unit and the fourth floor Hospice unit

Norman Gene Pennington, 73, of Iaeger, WV went into Jesus’ arms on Sunday January 22, 2012 at St.
Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born September 18, 1938 in Prince, WV, a son of the
late James Franklin and Dora Elizabeth Mullings Pennington. Gene was of the a retired coal miner. He
was also preceded in death by a son Willie Pennington, grandson James Pennington and three sisters
Aliene, Juanita, and Nadine. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a
Christian and he prayed and thanked God for everything he had. He was of the Holiness faith and a
member of the UMWA. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years Barbara Ellen Roberts Pennington;
four daughters Trecia (Johnny) Reynolds of Powellton, WV, Linda (Scotty) Cline of Mocksville, NC, Lillian
(Charles) Coleman of Harmony, NC, and Lois (Roger) Bolen of Iaeger, WV; nine grandchildren Phillip
Pennington, Joseph Reynolds, Jason Cline, Justin Cline, Nicole Coleman, Crystal Coleman, Charles
Coleman, IV, Kimberly Bolen and Roger Bolen, Jr.; four great grandchildren Kevin, Kaitlyn, Brianna, and
Hailey; a special niece Evelyn Jude Ball and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will
be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday January 26, 2012 at the Church of the Living God, Horse Creek, WV with
Bro. Billy Ward officiating. Norman will be laid to rest in High Knob cemetery, Coon Branch, WV. Friends
may gather with the family after 6:00 PM on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at the church. Pallbearers will

Lillian Paulene Powers, 52, of Oceana, WV, passed away January 21, 2012 at her home. She was born
October 7, 1958 in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late Jesse Bennett and Mary Louise Lester. Also
preceding her in death a daughter Patricia Pauline Powers and two sisters Magaret Paynter and Hazel
Lambert. Survivors include three daughters Crystal Gail Powers of Oceana, Valerie Louise Powers, and
Samantha Kaye Osborne; her boyfriend David Conley of Oceana; three sisters Trish (Clarence) Langford
of Grant, AL, Jessie Thornsbury of Oceana, and Bessie Belcher of Clear Fork, WV; six brothers Herb
Lester of Oceana, Glenn Lester of Grant, AL, Ralph (Faye) Lester of Chicago, IL, J.B. Lester of Smith
Mountain Lake, VA, Ringo Lester of Chicago, IL, and James (Betty) Lester of Cordova, AL; friends Jean
Conley of Oceana, Mark Conley, of Oceana, Joseph Conley of Dry Creek, WV, and Laura Ellis of Pineville,
WV; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with family wishes Lillian will be cremated.

Ocie May Belcher, 79, of Clear Fork, WV, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at
Bowers Hospice House, Beckley. She was born September 26, 1932 in Simon, WV, a daughter of the late
Charlie and Ortha Blankenship Belcher. Ocie attended the Sunhill Freewill Baptist Church. Also preceding
her in death was her husband Wyatt Belcher, Jr.; two brothers; a sister and three grandchildren. Survivors
include four sons Gerrett “Joe” (Roxanne) Belcher of Statesville, NC, Michael (Kay) Belcher of Kopperston,
Clifford (Rachael) Belcher of Sunhill, and Jackie (Carol) Belcher of Claremont, NC; four daughters Sharon
Belcher and companion Gary Tilley of Sabine; a sister Inez Harvey of Sunhill; a brother Bill Belcher of NC;
twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of other
loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday January 28, 2012 in the
Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Pastor Johnathan “Nub” Blankenship officiating.
Ocie will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may gather with the family at the
funeral home on Friday January 27, 2012 from 6-9:00 PM. Pallbearers will be family.

Mazie “Connie” Constance Williams, 77, of Oceana, WV passed away on Sunday January 29, 2012 at
Beckley Appalachian Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born October 29, 1934 in Millsburg, VA a daughter
of the late William Henry and Mabel Fitzhugh McDowell. Also preceding her in death her husband Phillip
Williams; an infant son; three brothers Monroe, Charles and Malwood; four sisters Maggie, Mary, Maxine,
and Mavis and three infants. Survivors include two sisters Mabel Haynes of White Sulphur Springs, WV
and June; good friends Mike and Debbie Belcher with whom she made her home for the past 19 years and
a host of other family and friends. Connie will be cremated and there will be no public services. The family is being served by the
Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
Laura Mae “Tiny” Daugherty, 77, of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Iaeger, went home to be with the Lord on
Tuesday January 31, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1934 in
Pikeville, KY a daughter of the late Julice and Renna Steele Collie. Also preceding her in death were her
husband Bobby Daugherty, grandson Michael and granddaughter Nicole. Laura was of the Church of God
faith and a homemaker. Survivors include five daughters Donna “Sue” (Carl) Turner of Rich Creek, VA,
Lana “Katie” Turner (Fred Sorge) of Fontana, CA, Gail Snider of Peterstown, WV, Bonnie Roberts of
Iaeger, WV and Betty Hess of Princeton, WV; six sons Danny (Darlene) Hatfield of Bluefield, WV, Robert
Daugherty and fiance Debbie Warren of Rich Creek, VA, Bruce (Patty) Daugherty of Goldbond, VA,
Eugene Blankenbeckler of Goldbond, VA, Frankie Blankenbeckler of Goldbond, VA, and David (Melissa)
Blankenbeckler of Monroe County, WV; twenty-two grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, and
a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday February 4, 2012 at
Mile Branch Community Church with Bro. Olie Bishop, Bro. Daugherty and Bro. Granville Mullins

Our search of our missing loved one is over. Roger Lee Browning, Jr., 40 of Pineville, was found
February 7, 2012. Roger loved being in the outdoors, was an avid fisherman, and loved to go into the hills
to hunt and ginseng. He was a 1989 graduate from Pineville High School. He worked for several gas drilling
companies in many different states and loved his family. Roger was born September 5, 1971 at Welch,
WV, the son of Rev. Roger L. & Judith L. Maynard Browning, Sr. of Pineville, WV. He was proceeded in
death by his paternal grandfather Rev. Rockford Browning and paternal grandmother Francis Browning,
maternal grandfather, Albert L. Maynard Sr., his mother in law Priscilla Kaye Rife; his father-in-law James
Dameron Sr.; and a nephew, Hunter Trent. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Melissa Kaye
Dameron Browning of Thomasville, NC; a son, Derek Lee Browning of Pineville; two sisters, Abby and
Mark Canada, and Lisa and Tim Workman both of Pineville; two sister-in-laws Jamie Faye and Ann-Marie
Dameron and one brother-in-law James “Bub” Dameron, Jr. all of Thomasville, NC.; five nephews Rock and
Christian Canada, Willis and Evan Workman and Matt Mitchell; three nieces Jacqueline Canada, Kelsey
Mitchell, Kaylee Testa and Sierra Trent; three great nieces Madison, Mackenzie and Jazzalyn Canada;
maternal grandmother Jerlene Maynard of Pineville; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday February 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Stafford Family
Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Browning and Bill Cantrell officiating. Burial will be at the Leatherwood
Memorial Gardens, Justice, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 PM on Sunday February
12, 2012 at the funeral home and one hour prior to service. Roger’s uncles and nephews will serve as
pallbearers. The family would love to give special gratitude and appreciation to everyone that has helped in
our efforts of bringing him home. Words cannot even begin to express the amount of love and thankfulness

Phyllis June Perdue Tilley, 72, of Sabine, WV was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday
February 9, 2012 in Raleigh General Hospital. She was born July 4, 1939 at Glen Rogers, WV. Phyllis
June was a former bus driver for the Council on Aging and a retired cook from Glen Fork Elementary
School. She was preceded in death by her mother Corbie Perdue – McGuire; maternal grandparents
Franklin Monroe Perdue and Nellie Halsey Perdue by whom she was raised; sister Geraldine Lucas;
brothers Ray McGuire, Elwood McGuire, Randall McGuire and Frankie McGuire; aunts Marie Perdue,
Irene Lyton and Nida Perdue and uncle Clyde Perdue. She was a member of the Glen Fork Church of
God. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years Theodore “Tick” Tilley; two daughters Patricia
Shumate and husband Charles of Glen Rogers and Shana Tilley of Sabine; a son Joseph “Joe” Tilley and
wife Annette of Trough Fork; six grandchildren Nikkih Tilley and wife Leighann, Michael Tilley and
companion April, Selina Starr Whimmer and husband Joey, Delilah Brown and husband Chad and Theia
Bailey, Rosie Bailey and fiancé Cody Baugh and their father Randy Bailey; a very special friend Ronnie
Bailey; great grandchildren Desirae, Tristen, Jeremy, Jesse, Emaley and Landon; two sisters Dorothy “Lu”
Faucette and Patsy Dirk; brother Elvis and his special wife Darlene McGuire; many nieces and nephews;

Kevin Stambaugh, 45, of Littlestown, PA passed away on Friday February 17, 2012 in Chambersburg
Hospital, Chambersburg, PA from a sudden illness. Kevin was a loving husband and father who will be
remembered and cherished always. Surviving Kevin is his wife of 21 years; Evelyn, and his two children,
Hannah and Andrew who loved their daddy very much. Kevin was a great man who will be loved always.
Services will be held from 3-6:00 PM Wednesday February 22, 2012 at the Ravencliff Church of God
with the eulogy to be read by Elizabeth Donna Burner. He will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM Thursday,
February 23, 2012 in Lafferty cemetery, McGraws, WV. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
