Summers County, WV. He was born August 17, 1977 in Mullens, WV, a son of the late James Dewey and
Jeanette Lusk Godsey. Those left to cherish his memory are his two beautiful daughters Shana Jeanette
Godsey of New Richmond, WV, and Carleen Cheyanne Godsey of New Richmond, WV; a sister Janet
Louise Morton and fiancé Adam Ferguson of New Richmond, WV; a brother James Dewey Godsey, Jr.
and wife Susie Renee of Bud, WV; a sister in law Margaret Blankenship; the mother of his children Ashley
and many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him dearly. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM
on Thursday June 28, 2012 at Lusk cemetery, Bud Mountain, WV. Friends may gather with the family

Vernie Mae Workman, 53, of Cyclone, WV departed this life on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Select
Specialty Hospital, Charleston, WV. She was born January 4, 1959 a daughter of the late Charles and
Minnie Lusk Workman. Survivors include her brothers Bobby Workman and wife Kathy of Cyclone, WV,
Darrell Workman, Joseph Workman, and Michael Workman and a sister Patricia Workman all of Cyclone,
WV; nieces and nephews include Michelle Workman and her companion Doug Hager of Lynco, WV,

Lenora Virginia Green Phelps, 90, of Oceana, WV departed this life on Friday June 29, 2012 at her
home. She was born October 2, 1921 in Bud, WV, a daughter of the late Richard Lee and Martha Stanley
Green. Lenora was of the Baptist faith. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 45 years
Cecil Phelps, four brothers and a sister. Those left to mourn her passing include four children Ellen
Sanders and Margaret (Terry) Ratcliff both of Oceana, Betty (Larry) Hatfield and Richard (Daisey) Phelps
both of Hampton, VA; eight grandchildren Joe (Kathy) Sanders, Lynn Worley, Nancy Inge, Danny Phelps,
Michael (Kim) Hatfield, Gene Hatfield, Lisa (Keith) Waycaster and Lori (Noel) Cogar; eleven great
grandchildren Katelyn Sanders, Starr (Steven) Walker, Matthew Inge, Heather and Thomas Hatfield,
Chase, Trey and Ben Waycaster, Jordan, Justin and Jaxon Cogar; two great great grandchildren Braden
Toler and Tyler Kenneda; a special friend who was like a daughter Anna Jean Delong; and many other

Billy Ray Kennedy, Sr., 56, of Simon, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday June 29, 2012 at his
home. He was born April 30, 1956 in Clear Fork, WV a son of the late Mack and Martha Blankenship
Kennedy. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters Mae Kennedy, and
Athelene Kennedy, and a brother brother Rocky Kennedy. Survivors include his loving wife Sandra Maria
Kennedy; a daughter Charisma Danielle Kennedy of Simon, WV; a son Billy Ray Kennedy, Jr. of Simon,
WV; two sisters Shirley Trent of Marianna, WV, and Patricia Blackburn of Mill Creek, WV; two brothers
Paul Kennedy of Justice, WV, and Larry Kennedy of Michigan and a host of other loving family and

Gary Thomas Snuffer, 66, of Kopperston, WV went to heaven to be with the Lord on Friday July 1, 2012
at Bowers Hospice House Beckley, WV. He was born May 8, 1946 in Glen Rogers, WV a son of the late
Albert and Virginia Phipps Snuffer. He was a loving husband and father. In addition to his parents he was
preceded in death by five siblings Carol Sue Bailey, Carlos Snuffer, Imogene Bailey, John Snuffer and an
infant Albert Lee Snuffer. Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years Barbara Jane Bailey Snuffer; two
daughters Sarah Rae (Elliott) Hatfield of Oceana and Elizabeth Snuffer of Kopperston; six grandchildren
Danielle Treadway, Aaliyah Arwood, Alexia Hatfield, Allison Hatfield, Taylor Sammons and Micheal
Thomas Sellards; eight brothers and sisters Jerry Snuffer of MA, Barbara Jo Bailey of Beckley, Judy

Josephine Marie Miller Woody, 77, of Anne Arundel County, Maryland passed away on Wednesday July
4, 2012 in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born August 26, 1934 in Bakersville, NC a
daughter of the late Steve and Jackquiline Miller. In addition to her parents a brother Cleveland Everett
Miller preceded her in death. Survivors include a niece Dovie Jo Miller of Matney Town; a sister-in-law
Mary Wimmer and husband Ray of Oceana, WV; a cousin Bobbi; and a host of other loving friends.

Stanley Dee “Spunk” Acord, 55, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday July 5, 2012 at Raleigh
General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born August 25, 1956 in Clear Fork, WV, a son of the late James
Dee and Leah Lurlene Adkins Acord. Spunk was a former construction worker and a U.S. Army Veteran. In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Aldie Charles Acord, Jimmy Dale
Acord and Dallas Steve Acord and his best friend Kenny “Slim” Dyke. Survivors include three sisters Joan
Acord of TN, Reva Walls of Beckley and Janet (Doug) Calloway of Glen Daniels; eleven brothers James

Nila Sue Lusk Berkhead, 71, of Fanrock, WV passed away on Thursday July 5, 2012 at Welch
Community Hospital. She was born June 24, 1941 in Fanrock, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. Raymond
and Helen Altizer Lusk. She was a life long member of the Briar Creek Tabernacle, retired from Sears, was
a former business owner and recently worked part time at Magic Mart. Sue was devoted to her church and
helping others. Also preceding her in death were her grandparents John and Jenny Altizer, two aunts Nona
“Tiny” Thomas Whitten and M’Ledge Altizer, a nephew Terry Short and a grandson Bryndon Wesley
Berkhead. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 55 years James “Bob” Berkhead; a son
Wesley (Stephanie) Berkhead of Fanrock; three grandchildren Jeffery, Kyle and Katy Berkhead all of
Fanrock; a very special friend/grandchild Missy Williams of Fanrock; a sister Betty (Curtis) Short of
Manassas, VA; two brothers Neil (Shelia) Lusk of Milton and Wendell (Cam) Lusk of Wellston, OH; a host

Dallas Ray Owens, 69, of Oceana, WV went on to a better life on Sunday July 8, 2012 at Thomas
Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV. Dallas was born October 5, 1942 in Williamsburg, WV a son of
Stella Williams Owens and the late Everett Ray Owens. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, Life member of the
Disabled American Veterans, Brothers of The Wheel and a member of the Wyoming County Veterans
Honor Guard. In addition to his father a sister Erma Sue Hylton also preceded him in death. Dallas was a
retired electrician from the coal mines. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years Erma Jean Osborne
Owens; a daughter Dina Renee (William) Morgan of Pinnacle, NC; two sons Jerry Wayne (Shavonda)
Owens of Lynco and Travis Blake (Sara) Owens of Valdosta, GA; a sister Patty Campbell of Huntington; a
brother Roger (Peggy) Williams of Trout, WV; five grandchildren Chris Barbour, April Morgan, Hunter
Wayne Owens, Mackinzie Gail Owens and Madison Rae Owens; and a host of other loving family and

Jason Paul Farrington, 33, of Lynco, WV passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2012 at his parents home
in their arms. Jason was born August 18, 1978 in Beckley, WV a son of Paul and Daisy Toler Farrington.
He was a lifelong resident of Lynco, WV. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur and Ruby
Toler of Lynco and Paul Farrington of Tazewell, VA along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and

David Denver “Davey” Morgan, Jr., 51, of Oceana, WV passed away on Sunday July 8, 2012 at U. VA
Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA. David was born June 12, 1961 in Pineville, WV a son of David D. and
Doris “Sue” Morgan, Sr. He was of the Pentecostal faith and had worked 19 years as a route salesman for
Pepsi Cola. He was preceded in death by a son David Cory Morgan, a brother Darin Morgan,
grandparents Maysel and Wannie “Bob” McCarty and Dotson “Dot” and Martha Morgan. Survivors include
his parents David D. and Doris “Sue” McCarty Morgan, Sr.; a daughter Kalah LaShawn Morgan (Glen)
