Alice Faye Marcum, 66, of Crany, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday August 12, 2012 at
Raleigh General Hospital. She was born March 17, 1946 in Holden, WV a daughter of the late James
Harrison and Ruth Allene Thornhill Marcum. She was a retired beautician, member of Lillyhaven Baptist
Church and a loving wife and mother. A daughter Amanda Jill Marcum also preceded her in death along
with a brother Larry G. Marcum. Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years Paul Edward Marcum; a
son Mike Edward Marcum of Crany; two grandsons Kevin Paul Marcum and Travis Kyle Marcum both of
Crany; a brother George Edward Marcum of Matheny; and a host of other loving family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Eugene Hatfield, 82, of Coal Mountain, WV passed away on Tuesday August 14, 2012 at CAMC
Memorial Division, Charleston, WV. He was born April 7, 1930 in Coal Mountain, WV a son of the late
Light “Poppy” and Fleety Ann Toler Hatfield. Eugene was the last surviving member of his immediate
family and was also preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, a granddaughter Beth Morgan and
a great granddaughter Autumn Hatfield. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Big Cub Missionary
Baptist Church and the U.M.W.A. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years Kathleen Blankenship
Hatfield; two daughters Marsha (Nick) Wallace of Coal Mountain and Patty (Steve) Hopkins of Powhatan,
VA; three sons Michael (Rebecca) Hatfield of Oceana, Larry (Ronda) Hatfield of Coal Mountain and Billy
Hatfield of Festus, MO; two sisters-in-law Patsy Benjamin of Oceana and Georgia Hatfield of Coal
Mountain; a brother-in-law Robert Blankenship of Oceana; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a
host of other loving family and friends. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Funeral
services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday August 17, 2012 at the Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church,
Coal Mountain, WV with Rev. Glen Hatfield officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hatfield cemetery,
Coal Mountain, WV. Friends may gather with the family after 6:00 PM on Thursday August 16, 2012 at the
church. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Saundra Lea Carper, 66, of Glen White, WV, formerly of Mullens and Lynco passed away on Wednesday
August 15, 2012 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston, WV. She was born November 25, 1945 in
Erling, WV, a daughter of the late Buster and Nora Mauk Harper. Saundra spent her early years in Reedy
Creek then moved to Lynco where she started her family. Then later she moved to Mullens. Her family was
what made her the happiest, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren, fishing and playing cards. She was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her
parents and three children Johnny Ray Carper, Charlene Carper, and Roger Dale Carper; sisters Sheila
Bishop, Patricia Walker; and a brother Vencil Harper. She will be greatly missed by her companion of 34
years Aaron Akers. Other survivors include her eight children Arelitta Meyers of Bluefield, VA, George
(Connie) Carper of Glen White, Eric Carper of Parkersburg, Jeanetta Hayes and fiancé Shannon Minton of
NC, Ricky Carper of Glen White, Rocky (Debbie) Carper of Martinsburg, Marlene (Robert) Dyer of Denver,
NC, Denver Halstead of Lester; and twelve grandchildren Sarah Riley, Cassandra McKinney, JJ Hayes,
Michael Hayes, Crystal Carper, Zachary Dyer, Luci Harrison, Tony Carper, Angel Carper, Aaron Halstead,
Dawna Halstead, and Kaylee Halstead; seven great grandchildren Sierra Beckette, Brennan Beckette,
Gavin Riley, Korbin Riley, Alyssa Hayes, Gage Hayes, and Madisyn Lucklear; three sisters Flora Harper of
Lester, Minnie Rudisill of Forest Hill and Rosanna Beeds of NC; and a list of nieces and nephews, and a
host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday August 18,
2012 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Rev. Firg Profitt officiating. Saundra
will be laid to rest in Wolf Pen Hollow cemetery, Long Branch, WV. Friends may gather with the family
from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.

Dreama Kay Brooks Toler, 54, of Long Branch, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday August
20, 2012 at her home. She was born July 10, 1958 in Iaeger, WV a daughter of the late Rev. Charles Ray
and Edna Kennedy Brooks. Dreama was a loving wife, a cherished mother and a devoted grandmother.
She was a devoted member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the
church, teaching Sunday School and any other activity that needed to be done. Those also preceding her
in death were her loving husband of 28 years Jackie Toler and sisters Joann Browning and Bonita
Kenneda. Survivors include three daughters Tiffany (Elbert Bo) Cline of Hanover, Bridget (Alan) Day of
Simon and Vanessa (Derek) Hatfield of Rock House; four grandchildren Alexis Kay Kennedy, Hunter Tracy
Paul Cline, Ashlee Lasha Day and Jacklyn Brooke Hatfield; two sisters Kathy (Crennis) Bryant of Hanover
and Madeleine (Joe) Blankenship of Simon; three brothers Otis (Virginia) Brooks and Robin Brooks all of
Simon and Barry (Leshia) Brooks of Oceana; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday August 24, 2012 at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist
Church with Rev. Lonnie Blankenship and Rev. Landon Blankenship officiating. She will be laid to rest
beside her husband in the Toler Cline cemetery, Long Branch, WV. Friends may gather with the family
after 6:00 PM on Thursday August 23, 2012 at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Charles Earl Green, 40, of Avondale, WV, passed away on Wednesday August 29, 2012
at his home. He was born October 19, 1971 in Lorain, OH, a son of the late Dewey Green,
Jr. and Deborah Faye Gibson Green of Avondale, WV. He was preceded in death by his
father; grandparents Cecil and Bessie Gibson; uncle Cecil Gibson, Jr.; cousin Cecil Gibson,
III; grandparents Dewey and Mary Green. Other survivors include a son Cody Alexander
Green of Crown, WV; a brother Edward Ford Green and companion Sherri Jewell of
Avondale, WV, and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with his wishes he
will be cremated and there will be no services. The family is being served by the Stafford Family
Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Wilfred Wesley Perry, 52, of Cyclone, WV, passed away on Thursday August 30, 2012 at St. Mary’s
Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born August 26, 1960 in Mullens, WV a son of Billy Ray and
Bobbie Carter Perry. He was a 1978 graduate of Oceana High School, where he was a member of the
Baseball team. Will enjoyed playing video games, listening to gospel music, watching the Yankees and
Braves with his dad, playing with his nephews Josh, Coleton, Andrew and Jackson and playing cards wih
his special Aunt Darlene Perry. When able, Will attended th Cyclone Missionary Baptist Church. Will was
preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Marshall Hayes and Inez Christian Perry; maternal
grandparents Garland Bud and Stella Brinegar Carter; uncles Buddy, Sherwood and Von Perry, Roy,
Buddy and Roger Carter; aunt Helen Workman. In addition to his parents he is survived by his paternal
grandmother Rosie Toler Perry; a brother Brian (Robin) Perry of Accoville; five sisters Gloria Brinkley of
Cyclone, Karen (Pat) Browning of Cooks Addition, Erma (Tim) Mutters of Oceana, Teresa (Timmy Jo)
Justice and Jenny Mathis of Pratt; nieces and nephews Lil’ Pat Browning, Tessa Brinkley, Stephanie
Browning, Joshua Mutters, Christin Mathis, Timothy Mutters, T.J. Justice, Kelsey Mathis, Trey Mathis, Lil’
Joshua Perry, T.J.Hoosier, Andrew Backus, Savannah Goodwin, Coleton Browning, Kayln Diegert, Keelyn
Osborne, Bristol Florence and Luxley Mutters; his little buddy Jackson West; a special caregiver of eleven
years Vanessa Buckland. Will is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends of
which there are too many to mention. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday September 4,
2012 at the Cyclone Missionary Baptist Church with Stephen Walls and Brian Perry officiating. He will
be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6 – 9:00
PM on Monday August 3, 2012 at the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco and one hour prior to
service at the church. Pallbearers will be Lil’ Pat Browning, Joshua Mutters, T.J. Hoosier, Timothy Mutters,
T.J. Justice and Trey Mathis. Flower girls will be Tessa Brinkley, Stephanie Florence, Christin Mathis and
Kelsye Mathis. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Doris Mae Kennedy Rose, 92, of Matheny, WV, passed away on Friday August 31, 2012 at Raleigh
General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born November 3, 1919 in Crany, WV, a daughter of the late
William Waterson and Clarinda Jane Lamb Kennedy. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the
Toneda Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty
years, Clarence Rose, a special friend Olen Jewell, two sisters Avis Stuart and Norma Rose, a brother
Dennis Kennedy, and an infant great grandson Christian Chaffins. She was loved by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter Carol Justice and husband Richard; a son Terry Rose
and wife Becky; three grandsons Kevin Chaffins and wife Ginger, Richard Chaffins and wife Misty and
Heath Rose and wife Maia; a granddaughter Heather Hoffman and husband Justin; four great
grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on
Tuesday September 4, 2012 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Cook
officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may call from 11:00
AM until service time at the funeral home. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.

Charles Kerry Stafford, 67, of Pineville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 3,
2012 at his home in Pineville, WV. He was born December 8, 1944 in Tams, WV, a son of the late
George Early and Agatha Chandler Stafford. He was a member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, the
UMWA and worked for Eastern’s Harris Mine for 37 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in
death by seven brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his loving wfe Margaret Smith Stafford; two
sons Steven Kerry (Christy) Stafford of IL, and Darin Keith (Kelly) Stafford of Oak Hill, WV; two sisters
Natalee Buckland, and Dorie Toler both of Oceana; three brothers David Stafford of Columbus, OH, Curt
Stafford of Oceana, and Bobby Jo Stafford of Shady Springs, WV; two granddaughters Selena Stafford
and Isabella Stafford; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00
PM on Friday September 7, 2012 at the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle with Bro. Brown of Williamson
officiating. He will be laid to rest in Smith and Lusk cemetery, Brier Creek, WV. Friends may call from 6
- 9:00 PM Thursday at the church. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.

Wirt “Dub” Walker, Jr., 68, of Brenton, WV, passed away on Saturday September 1, 2012 at Bowers
Hospice House, Beckley, WV. In keeping with Dub’s wishes he will be cremated. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Bobby Ray Hicks, 59, of Dale, TX, formerly of Oceana, WV, passed away on Saturday September 1,
2012 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A memorial service will be held Sunday
September 9, 2012 at noon at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Koppercity Bottom, Kopperston, WV.
Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM until time of service. Email letters of sympathy can be

Darline Lites Wood, 54, of Peterstown, WV, formerly of Oceana passed away on Wednesday
September 5, 2012 at her home. She was born February 21, 1958 in Atlanta, GA the daughter of the late
William Bryant and Gurtrice Edwards Lites, Jr. In keeping with Darline's wishes she will be cremated. A
memorial service will be held at a later date in East Point, GA. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
