Hazel B. Jude, 92, of Sabine WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 27, 2012. She
was born February 14, 1920 in Pilgram, KY, a daughter of the late Sherman and Minnie Evans. She was
preceded in death by her husband Andrew Jude, a still born baby boy and a son Arthur Jude, two sisters
Dollie Muncy and Alma Preece, and two brothers Russell and Webb Evans. Those left to cherish her
memory are two daughters Ruby Jude of Sabine and Doris and her husband Dewayne of Ravencliff, WV;
a son Carl Jude and his wife Melinda of Sabine; five grandchildren Eric Hurd , Dan Hurd, Kelly Williams,
Joseph Jude, and Jessica Crouse; twelve great grandchildren Leigha Hurd, Ryan Hurd, Hailey Hurd,
Logan Hurd, Kendall Hurd, Dylan Brooks, Rayven Williams, Zackery Crouse, Alexis Crouse, Rebecca
Jude, Courtney Jude and Makayla Jude; a great great grandchild Morgan Greer; two sisters Oma Brown
of Lexington, KY and Goldie Kirk of Inez, KY; a brother Carl Evans of Louisa, KY and a host of other loving
family and friends. She loved her family very much and always wanted them to be with her. Our loss is
heavens gain, but she will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday October 29,
2012 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with The Rev. Ernest Francis officiating.

Derrick Dewayne Blackburn, 25, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Friday October 26, 2012 at his
home. He was born October 29, 1986 in Logan, WV, a son of Judy Ann Lester Blackburn of Oceana and
the late James Anderson Blackburn. He was a 2005 graduate of Westside High School and a former coal
miner. In addition to his father his is preceded in death by uncle Larry “Pete” Blackburn and an aunt Faye
Schrader. Survivors include his loving mother Judy Ann Lester Blackburn; a brother James Ballard
(Cynthia) Blackburn of Kopperston; two sisters Teresa Ward of Ben Creek and Zelda Sue Hall Walls of
Oceana; two nieces Hope Nicole Hall and Savanna Reane Brown; four nephews Johnathon Henry,
Christopher Henry, Ryan Hall and Kevin Hall; two aunts Uni Stepp of Oceana, and Imogene (Moody) Toler
of Sun Hill; five uncles Perry Blackburn, Jr. of NC, Clarence Marvin (Lucille) Blackburn of Long Branch,
Gary Randolph Blackburn of Sun Hill, Darrell Blackburn of Oceana, and Ed Blackburn of Clear Fork, and a

Amos Lee Lockhart, 69, of Panther WV, stepped over into a better life on Monday October 29, 2012 in
Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born April 18, 1943 in Panther, WV, a son of the late
Elmer Clyde and Leventha Justice Lockhart. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister
Audrey Mae Lockhart, and a great niece Julie Elaine Jablonski. Those left to cherish his memory are his
loving wife of twenty one years Barbara Katherine Matney Lockhart of Panther, WV; two sisters Linda Ruth
(Vernon) Lester of Bland, VA, and Katrina Lynn (James) Loan of Christiansburg, VA; a brother Dennis Ray
Lockhart of Wytheville, VA; four nieces Veronica Jablonski, Stephanie Shrader, Kristen Lockhart, and
Sherri Sifford; three nephews Samuel Beeghly, Brian Beeghly, and Chris Loan; his mother in law Phyllis

Clyde Elizabeth "Granny" Brunk, 88, of Crany, WV passed away on Monday November 5, 2012 in
Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born April 9, 1924 in Konnarock, VA, a daughter of the
late Jim and Ida Blevins Haga. Clyde was a member of the Lillyhaven Baptist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence William Brunk, her
beloved son James Clarence Brunk, nine sisters and three brothers. Survivors include a sister Stella
Riley of Roanoke, VA; a very special friend Dreama Kahn; a friend Suzie Huffman; many nieces and
nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on

Harles Justus, 72, of Brenton, WV passed away on Friday November 9, 2012 in Beckley Appalachian
Regional Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born October 20, 1940 in Buchanan County, Virginia, a son of the
late Carrol and Leatie Blankenship Justus, Sr. Harles was a retired coal miner. In addition to his parents,
his wife of 35 years Doris Ann Short Justus also preceded him in death, along with two sisters Credith
Lane and Trulabea McGraw. Survivors include his two loving daughters Teresa Miller-Banks and husband
Wayne of Beckley and Deanna McKinney and husband Gordon of Basin; five sisters Gertrude Hurley of
Brenton, Inez Smith of Sunhill, Nancy Hawks of Brenton, Imogene Short of Brenton and Drema Lester of
Beckley; three brothers Corbet Justus of Brenton, Carrol Justus, Jr. of Kopperston and Franklin Justus of
Kopperston; a grandson James Christopher Miller; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral

Corine Elswick Blankenship, 77, of Kopperston, WV passed away on Saturday November 10, 2012 at
Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, Winston – Salem, NC. She was born November 29, 1934 in Lorado,
WV a daughter of the late Theodore “Pop” and Nealy “Mom” Elswick. Corine was a faithful member of the
Oceana Freewill Baptist Church, loving mother and friend. In addition to her parents she was preceded in
death by her husband Allen Murphy Blankenship, four brothers Eugene Elswick, James “Pug” Elswick,
Frank Osborne and Cyrus Elswick and a sister Dovie Rollins. Survivors include two sons Allen Junior(Gina)
Blankenship of Elkton, MD, and James Edward (Cindy) Blankenship of Asheville, NC; three daughters
Janet Lynn Blankenship of Colonial Heights, VA, Treasa Blankenship (David) Cook of Kernersville, NC,

Chris Garland McCoy, 36, of Turkey Creek Road, Brenton, WV passed away on Monday November 12,
2012 at his home. He was born December 26, 1975 in Beckley, WV, the son of Freddie Garland McCoy
and Linda Lou Hamn McCoy. He was graduate of Pineville High School and former chemical mixer.
Survivors include his father Freddie Garland McCoy; his mother Linda Lou Hamn McCoy; three sons
Logan McCoy, Jack McCoy and Tyler McCoy all of Turkey Creek; two sisters Tammy McCoy of Turkey
Creek and Jodie McCoy of Turkey Creek; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services

Polly Justice Ball, 74, of Panther, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday November 24, 2012 in
Princeton Community Hospital. She was born May 12, 1938 in Virginia, a daughter of the late Willie and
Josie Lester Justice. Polly was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a homemaker
and member of the Jesus Church. A daughter Loretta Lynn Ball also preceded her in death, along with a
granddaughter Sherry Lynn Ball, four sisters Bessie Estep, Julia Roberts, Lena Bryant and Lila Reed, four
brothers Lonnie, Mack, Burl and Matt Justice. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years Herschel
Ball; two daughters Dorothy (Rev. Larry) Cline of Austinville, VA and Janet Henson of Hamilton, OH; two
sons William (Isabelle) Ball of Short Pole and Henry (Evelyn) Ball of Iaeger; eleven grandchildren, Larry,
Jr., Anthony, Amy, Ashley, Brittany, Nathan, Amber, Andrew, Danielle, Elizabeth and Jennifer; eleven great
grandchildren Erin, Nathaniel, Jordan, Kameron, Avery, Kylie, Madison, Natalie, Kelsey, Alyssa and

Tessie Kathleen “Tennessee” Rife, 82, of Oceana, WV went home to be with the Lord Wednesday
November 28, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 20, 1930 in
Buchanan County, VA a daughter of the late John and Polly Mullins Rife. She attended the Oceana
Freewill Baptist Church for over 60 years, and was an inspiration and Godly example to all who knew her.
She touched many people singing the praises of God and will be greatly missed. In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Thurmond Rife; her step father Martin
Whitt; a brother Cletus Rife; five sisters Bonnie Sue Rife, Brenda McMillan, Retha Walker, Judy
Blankenship, and Shelby Coleman; two son in laws Danny Belcher, and Troy Cole. Survivors include four
daughters Pat Belcher of Oceana, Terenia (Greg) Moody of Knoxville, TN, Tonya (Danny) Osborne of
Cyclone, and Melissa (Steve) Blankenship of Oceana; five grandchildren Shawn Codie Miller of Oceana,
Samantha Miller of Oceana, David Schumann of Knoxville, TN, Jon Schumann of Knoxville, TN and Trey
Osborne of Oceana; three brothers Russell (Molly) Rife of Abington, VA, Roland (Wilma) Rife of
Wytheville, VA, and Andrew (Janice) Rife of Wytheville, VA; a sister Ellen Walker of Oceana; Carson and
Anna Blankenship who were like her grandchildren; special friends Darlene Hurley and D.J. Davis; and a

Joseph Arthur Myers, 55, of Matheny, WV, passed away on Monday November 26, 2012 in Pearisburg,
VA. He was born March 30, 1957 in Pineville, WV the son of the late John Thlema and Bertha Beatrice
Corn Myers. In addition to his parents a sister Juanita Wingler, and a brother Boyd Myers preceded him in
death. Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years Bonnie Kay Acord Myers of Matheny; a daughter
Alesisha Dawn Myers and her companion Rodney Hatfield, Jr. of Hillsbourgh, VA; two sons Joseph Boyd
(Radawnda) Myers of Sevierville, TN, and Daniel John Marcus Myers of Matheny; five sisters Sarah
Pauline Stewart of Matheny, Faye Bailey of Glen Fork, Rosie (Charles) Schoolcraft of Colonial Heights,
VA, Carolyn (Skipper) Vaught of Ohio, and Margie (Fred) Legg of Red House, WV; four brothers Johnnie
(Bertha) Myers of Thomasville, NC, Dannie (Pat) Myers of Goldsborough, NC, Virgil (Beula) Myers of
