Eunice Grace Rose Thomas, 89, of Rock House, WV went home to be with the Lord and her husband
Alvin the love of her life at 1:25 AM on Friday, January 4, 2013 in Wyoming Continuous Care, New
Richmond, WV after a long bout with cancer. She was born January 4, 1924 in Davy, WV, a daughter of
the late Jeston Corbet and Viola Walker Rose. Eunice was a homemaker and an avid church goer. She
loved going to Indian Creek Baptist Church where she was a life time member and everyone called her the
mother of the church. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The last four years of
her life she stayed with her son and daughter because of her health. She was preceded in death by her
loving husband of 48 years Alvin Edward Thomas; her parents; a brother Norman Rose; two sisters Janice
Wingler and Iris Green. Those left to cherish her memories include son Alvin Stanley Thomas and wife
Maxine of Rock House; a daughter Brenda Sue Young and husband Roger of King George, VA; two
brothers Calvin Rose of NC, and Ray Rose of Princeton; three sisters Garnett Gullett of Welch, Hazel
Lambert of Fanrock, and Wilma Pack of Woodbridge, VA; seventeen grandchildren, and two great
grandchildren, and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on
Monday January 7, 2013 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Walker and
Bro. Teddy Vance officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 – 9:00 PM on Sunday January 6, 2013 at the funeral home.

Sybil Lee Rose, 77, of Hinton, WV, formerly of Kopper City Bottom passed away on January 7, 2013 in
Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hinton, WV. She was born June 21, 1935 in Glen Morrison,
WV a daughter of the late Clayton Cottle and Minnie Blair Cook Walker. Sybil was a graduate of Oceana
High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Garland Rose;
a son Rodney Dale Rose; a daughter Janet Faye Rose; and two brothers Leonard and Ernest Walker.
Those left to cherish her memories include a daughter Shirley Rose of Hinton; a son Jerry (Carol) Rose of
Oceana; three sisters Bernice Giles, Elizabeth Linton, Joyce Griffith, and Glenna Toler; two brothers
Raymond Walker and James Walker; four grandchildren Landon Dale Berta, Steven James Berta, Cory
Lee-Jamie Rose, and Jordan Lea Rose; two great grandchildren Devin Berta and Zayen Berta, and a
host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday January 10,
2013 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Bro. Euel Toler officiating. She will be laid to

George Shockley “Shock” Prillaman, 69, of Oceana, WV passed away on January 5, 2013 in Welch
Community Hospital, Welch, WV. He was born June 14, 1943 in Bassett, Virginia a son of the late George
Patrick and Flora Thompson Prillaman. George was a US Army Veteran and he worked many years for
Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a conductor and brakeman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years Dana Lynn Salyer Prillaman; a daughter Rachel Susan
Prillaman of Oceana; two sons Reuben James Prillaman of Oceana, and Brian Prillaman of GA; three
sisters Edith Willingham of Mullens, Barbara Woody of Alpoca, and Nadine Hamrick of Chickasaw, AL; a
brother Lonnie Prillaman of Mullens; four grandchildren Brianna Prillaman, Gabby Prillaman, Aaron
Hoosier, and Olivia Hoosier; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with his wishes he
was cremated and a Celebration of his life will be held 6-9:00 PM Thursday January 10, 2013 at the

James Danny Acord, 65, of Clear Fork, WV, went home to be with the Lord and greeted with open arms
on January 8, 2013 in at his home, Clear Fork, WV. He was born December 6, 1947 in Clear Fork, WV a
son of the late James D. and Lurlene Adkins Acord. James was an Oceana High School graduate. He
was a US Army Veteran having served in Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart, the Army
Commendation Medal and the Air Medal. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four
brothers Aldie Charles Acord, Jimmy Dale Acord, Dallas Steve Acord, and Stanley Dee Acord. Those left
to cherish his memories include a daughter Jessica Denise (Ronnie) Morris of Blythe, GA; two sons

Rev. Mary Margie Morgan Hatfield, 77, of Pemberton, WV, Our precious angel went home to be with the
Lord on Sunday January 13, 2013 at her home following a long illness. She was born November 2, 1935 in
Guyan, WV to the late William Connie and Ada Jane Yates Morgan. Mary was an ordained minister
through the United Christian Ministerial Association. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death
by a son in law Herman West. Those left to cherish her are her loving husband of 61 years and 10 months
French Hatfield; three sons Irving (Sandi) Hatfield, Joseph (Debbie) Hatfield, and Tony (Sandy) Hatfield;
four daughters Sharon (Jimmy) Sadler, Karen (Mark) Stiefer, Beth West, Melissa White and companion
Jackie Miller; a special grandson Mickey Udy who resides at the home and was greatly involved with her

Sara Jane “Kitty” Epperhart, 67, of Fanrock, WV, passed away on Wednesday January 23, 2013 in
Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born December 28, 1945 in Amherstdale, WV a
daughter of the late Troy and Maysie Justice Toler. She was a homemaker and a member of the Brenton
Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Gerald Toler. Left to
cherish her memories are her loving husband of almost 39 years Edward Clayton Epperhart, Jr.; two

Randall K. “Randy” Stafford, 53, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Friday January 25, 2013 at his
home from a battle with cancer. He was born January 28, 1959 in Man, WV, a son of Kenneth Jacob
Stafford of Kopperston and the late Erma Lillian Arthur Stafford. Randy loved to ride his Goldwing
motorcycle with his wife Sue. They had traveled to 39 of 50 States in the United States touring the
country. He was a member of the Toneda Baptist Church and the UMWA. He enjoyed camping, fishing
and hunting with two sons Patrick and Jared. Randy enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter
Jasmine, usually bicycling and fishing. He also volunteered in the past church youth groups and Sunday
school programs, civic organizations such as Oceana Little League, Biddy Buddy Basketball, and the
Boy Scouts. He was formerly employed with Arch Coal Inc., Mingo Logan Coal Co., Transervice Inc.,
Harris #2 Mine, and Itmann Coal Co. He was preceded in death by his mother. In addition to his father
Kenneth Jacob Stafford of Kopperston, he is survived by his wife of 33 years Sue Stafford of Oceana,
their two sons Patrick Stafford of Welch; and Jared Stafford and wife Kat of Beckley; one grandchild
Jasmine Stafford of Mullens; three sisters Lillian Tilley and husband Billy of Eccles, Marsha Sparks and
husband Tommy of Oceana, and Sandy Solacz and husband Mitch of Mt. Hope; a special sister in law
Lou Blankenship of Oceana who helped with his home health care; special friends Brenda and Frank
Jenelos, Sr, Frank Jenelos Jr., numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host

Eddie Eugene Berry, 59, of Clemmons, NC, formerly of Wyoming County passed away on Saturday
January 26, 2013 at Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington, NC. He was born July 8, 1953 in Wise County,
VA, a son of Kenneth the late Turner Lee and Loretta Faye Hill Berry. Eddie was a United States Marine
Corp. Veteran. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Loreta Montrosse.
Survivors include two sisters Debra Kay (Frank) Adams of Pineville, and Jacqueline Berry (Cecil)
Duggins of Clemmons, NC; a brother Thomas Lee Berry of Pineville; a niece Alicia (Andrew) Utterback

Clarence Lee “Buck” Gibson, 91, of Christiansburg, VA, formerly of Lynco, WV passed away on
Friday January 25, 2013 at his home. He was born January 11, 1922 in Lorado, WV, a son of the late
Levi Martin Gibson and the late Alpha Mae Brown Gibson Albright. He worked for Eastern Associated
Coal Corporation for 35 years and was a member of the UMWA local 7604. In addition to his parents he
was preceded in death by his stepfather Tom Albright; four brothers Chester Gibson, Lovell Gibson,
Doyle Gibson and Seldon Gibson; a sister Vonda Gibson. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving
wife of 72 years Erna Lucille Bishop Gibson; two sons Roger D. (Carol) Gibson of Maben, WV, and
