Orville Lee Gibosn, Jr., 57, of Accoville, WV, went on to a better life on Saturday February 23, 2013 in Pikeville, KY. He was born June 25, 1955 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Orville Lee Sr. and Delorse Withrow Gibson. Orville was a 1973 graduate of Man High School and a disabled coal miner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three special nieces Amy Bryant, Tamra Gilco and Crickett McDaniels; two special nephews Gregory Elkins, and David Wyatt; his step father Percy Kilgore; and a sister-in-law Linda Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Patricia Bryant Gibson of Accoville; a daughter Anita Gibson of Logan; a son Guy Anthony (Malinda) Gibson of Accoville; three sisters Gloria Gilco of Accoville, Liz McDaniels of Accoville, and Wanda (Teddy) Bragg of Huntington; father and mother- in-law Guy and Anita Bryant; a very special granddaughter Ashton Gibson; two special grandsons Jacob Gibson and Jermiah Gibson; two special sister-in-laws Mary (Kenny) Linville, of Combs Addition, and Debbie (Chuck) Barnett of Chesapeake, VA; two special brother-in-laws James (Tammy) Bryant of Davin, and Tony (Sherry) Bryant of St. Albans; special friends Charles (June) Brumfield of Claypool, and Debbie (Bill) Owens; and a host of other loving family and friends. Chandler David Jarron Marushia, 9 months, Mohawk, WV, left this world to play with the angels in Gods playground, on March 5, 2013, at Welch Community Hospital, Welch, WV. He was born on June 8, 2012 in Welch, WV a son of Charles Jeremy Ryan and Christina Faith Reed Marushia of Mohawk. He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Roger and Joan Cline Morgan, and Eunice Reed and an uncle Brandon Ray Reed. Chessie Marie Stroupe McPeake, 80, Pineville, WV; went home to be with the Lord, on March 6, 2013, in WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. She was born April 1, 1932 in Welch, WV a daughter of the late Hobert Stroupe and Georgia Bell Stroupe Akers. Chessie was a member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church and a long time employee of the Wyoming County Board of Education, mostly teaching at Pineville Elementary School. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Richard T. McPeake, her stepfather J.W. Akers, a son Michael D. McPeake, a brother Cecil Stroupe and a sister Margaret Swimm. Those left to cherish her memory include a son James R. McPeake and wife Wanda Lou of Lahmansville, WV; a niece Debbie Marsh and husband Rodney of Pineville; and a host of other loving family and friends. Lisa Michelle Short Blackburn, 46, of Simon, WV went on to a better life on Sunday March 10, 2013 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 24, 1966 in Welch, WV a daughter of Raymond Lee Short, Jr. of Wytheville, VA and the late Margarett Eulene Short. Lisa was a homemaker and loving mother. Survivors also include three daughters Jamie Short of Oceana, Kayla Ritchie of Oceana and Brittany Ritchie of Oceana; a granddaughter Tiona Short of Oceana; a sister Brenda Lee (Danny) Reed of Pineville; fiancé Darrell Blackburn of Simon; step father Carl Justice of Oceana; a half sister Joy Morgan of Wytheville, VA; two half brothers Dwight Justice of Oceana and Cody Justice of McKenzie Short; two great nephews Austin Short and Tommy Short; and a host of other loving family and friends. Berman Okey Lusk, 56, of Kopperston Road, WV passed away on Saturday March 9, 2013 at his home following a long illness. He was born August 17, 1956 in Cyclone, WV, a son of the late Posey Berman and Waveline Gunnoe Lusk of Cyclone, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Sherry Lynn Lusk; two brothers Teddy Ray Lusk and Ellery Kent Lusk; and a sister Karen Cook. Truby Jean Green Carper, 62, of Clear Fork, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 15, 2013 in Logan Regional Medical Center. She was born October 5, 1950 in Boone County, WV. a daughter of Violet Faye Gibson Green McClanahan and the late Jon Arlin Green. Truby was a homemaker. In addition to her father, her husband Lee Carper and two brothers Rick and Bobby Green also preceded her in death. James Lee Pelphrey, 80, of Holiday, FL, formerly of Oceana, departed his earthly life and boarded the heavenly train on Saturday March 23, 2013 at his daughters home. He was born October 24, 1932 in Lovely, KY, a son of the late Sherman and Emma Pelphrey. James had a deep passion for trains and enjoyed collecting and displaying model trains. He enjoyed bluegrass music and was an avid dancer. He had a great love for fishing and spent many hours on the banks of rivers, lakes and by the shores of the ocean near his home in Holiday, Florida. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Craig Pelphrey, son-in-law Larry Lester anda brother Johnny Pelphrey. He was a retired coal miner having worked for 27 years at Eastern Associated Coal’s Kopperston Mine. James is survived by his daughter Debbie Lester of Shady Spring; seven sons Ronnie Pelphrey and wife Rena of Oceana, Gary Pelphrey of Oceana, Greg Pelphrey and wife Laurie of Beckley, Doug Pelphrey and wife Eva of Sophia, James Allen Pelphrey of Holiday, FL, Darren Pelphrey of Padrian, MI and Kevin Pelphrey of Kentucky; two brothers Bob Pelphrey of Columbus, OH and Earl Pelphrey of Kopperston; a sister Opal Williams of Waverly, OH; fifteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Leroy Dale Hatfield, Jr., 32, of Oceana, WV passed away on Friday March 22, 2013. He was born April 21, 1980 in Welch, WV a son of Leroy Dale Hatfield, Jr. of Pineville, and Geraldine Ivy Daugherty Osborne of Oceana. Leroy is a 1999 graduate of Oceana High School. He is preceded in death by grandparents Nyrmal Daugherty, Julian Daugherty, Laura Hatfield, Milton Hatfield; an aunt Debra Walls; four uncles Elvis Hatfield, Jeff Hatfield, J.J. and Jerry Daugherty. Along with his parents he is survived by four daughters Ashlynn Hatfield, Paige Hatfield, Addie Hatfield, and Halli Franklin all of Oceana; two sisters Marti Leeann Franklin of Oceana and Jerri Lynn Daugherty of Fairmont; ex-wife and friend Brenda Gibson of Oceana; and a host of other loving family and friends. Huron Keith Toler, 71, of Reedy Creek, WV passed away on Sunday March 31, 2013 at his sister’s home in Coal Mountain, WV due to complications of leukemia. He was born January 12, 1942 in Reedy Creek, WV, a son of the late Albert H. and Macie Hatfield Toler. He graduated from Baileysville High School and was a retired fork lift operator and security guard. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leland Toler and a sister-in-law Babe Toler. He is survived by a daughter Lana Cook of Beckley; a sister Katherine (Roger) Hatfield and of Coal Mountain; a brother Ray Toler of Reedy Creek; three nephews Rayvon (Betty) Toler of Lynco, Stacy Toler of Reedy Creek, and Kenny Ray (Jeanette) Hatfield of Charleston; a niece Rita (Elmer) Goodman of Oceana; two great nephews Brian Toler of Lynco, and Chase (Summer) Hatfield of Charleston; three great nieces Heather (Chris) Morgan and their children Megan and Cameron of Reedy Creek, Tina (Darrick) Kenneda and their children Kyler and Rylee of Simon, and Lacie Hatfield of Charleston and a host of other loving family and friends. Pina Leetha Webb Bailey, 96, of Oceana, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 5, 2013 in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born December 11, 1916 in Olive Hill, KY. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death in December of 1979 by her loving husband Rev. Roy A. Bailey, a son Ottis Bailey, a daughter Beulah Gay Walker, an infant daughter Adurey Faye Bailey and three grandchildren Boe Walker, Theresa Walker and Robin Canada. She was a dedicated Christian and had attended and was a member of the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church for over 60 years. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter Diana (John) Mathis of Oceana; a son Denvil E.
