Charles Leroy “Charlie” Rollins, 75 of Crany, WV, passed away on Thursday February 6, 2014 at his home. He was born April 7, 1938 in Crany, WV, a son of the late Roy and Dollie Bailey Rollins. Also preceding him in death was his loving wife of 47 years Dovie Elswick Rollins. He was a member of the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter Paula Acord and husband Eddie of Lynco, WV; a son Charles “Chuck” Rollins Jr. and wife Kathy of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren Chafin Rollins, Andrew Rollins and Theodore “Shorty” Acord; two sisters Freda Smith and husband Everett “Bud” and Mary Johnson and husband Bill all of Crany, WV; two brothers Cecil Rollins and wife Donna of Crany, WV and Bob Rollins and wife Donna of Hinton, WV; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday February 9, 2014 at the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jackie Grimmett officiating. Charlie will be laid to rest beside his wife in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family at the church from 11:00 AM until time of service. The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Dorothy Victoria England, 78 of Indian Creek, WV, passed away on Thursday February 6, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born June 19, 1935 in Delbarton, WV, a daughter of the late William John and Mae M. Milam Pennington. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 19 years Emmett Lee England; three brothers Richard Pennington, Johnny Pennington, and Troy Pennington. Survivors include a daughter Monica (Chuck) Massey of Indian Creek; a son Foy Willis “Buddy” (Loretta) Watson III of Cross Lanes, WV; a sister Shirley (Stan) Karpinski of Spartanburg, SC; two brothers Clifton Pennington of Brooksville, FL, and Billy (Judy) Pennington of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren Miranda (Derrick) Saul, Chuck Massey, Jr. and fiancé Bobbi Justus, and Jerid (Destiny) Massey; one great grandchild Talon Massey and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday February 10, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Stewart officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband in Stewart cemetery, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family at the funeral home from 11:00 AM Monday February 10, 2014 until time of service. Larry Lynn Rogers, 53, of Troutman, NC, formerly of Elk Creek, WV, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at his home. He was born August 26, 1960 in Welch, WV, a son of the late Pat and Bessie Rogers. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother James “Patty” Rogers; four sisters Peggy Johnson, Freda Ellis, Ruby Toler and Martha Moore; and a grandson Aaron Jarrett. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Bessie Collins of Statesville, NC, Tasha Collins of Charleston, WV, and Larry Mynes of Butler, KY; one sister, Patricia Justus; one brother, Elmer Rogers, both of Troutman, NC; brothers-in-law David “Junior” Johnson of Bruno, WV and Terry Toler of Gilbert, WV; sister-in law Betty Rogers of Mallory, WV; grandchildren, Madison Collins, Haylee Stricker, Jacob Jarrett and Christina Collins; numerous nieces and nephews and two special nephews, Patrick Ellis and Terry “Man” Toler and a special niece, Misty Browning who helped take care of him. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday February 21, 2014 at the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, Statesville, NC, with Rev Ray Blankenship and Rev. Max Hayes officiating. The family will speak to family and friends at the funeral home and at the cemetery. Local funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Roger Keaton McKinney, 62, of Oceana, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital. He was born March 12, 1951 in Slab Fork, WV a son of the late Bernard Burdette and Katherine Marie Pierce McKinney. Roger was a member of the Crany Missionary Baptist Church. He loved all his family, church family and many friends. Roger was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Herbert Lewis and Bernard Burdette McKinney, Jr.; a sister Shirley Jean McKinney; mother-in-law Madeleen Stepp; sister-in-law Charlene Blankenship; and special aunt Thelma Thompson. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years Geraldine Stepp McKinney; three sons Roger Wayne (Christy) McKinney and their children Douglas Keaton McKinney, and Molly Ann McKinney, Kevin Lee (Lenore) McKinney and their children Bethany LeeAnn McKinney, and Maria LeDawn Mckinney, and Daniel Paul McKinney all of Oceana; four sisters Peggy (Morris) Niday of Crab Orchard, Billie Joyce (Tom) Cox of Stotesbury, Tina Lester of Richmond, VA, and JoAnn (Ron) Myatt of Belhaven, NC; two brothers Douglas Lee (Carol) McKinney of Caol City, and Harry Allen (Linda) McKinney of Stotesbury; father-in-law Grover Stepp of Crany; sister-in-law Evealene (Steve) Elkins of Lynco; two brother-in-laws Bennie (Becky) Stepp, and Kenneth (Nina) Stepp all of Crany; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at Noon on Sunday February 23, 2014 at the Crany Missionary Baptist Church, Crany, WV, with Pastor James Walker and his son Kevin Lee McKinney officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Stepp Family cemetery, Crany, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9:00 PM on Saturday February 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home. Family and friends will serve as pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Doyle Johnson, and Bud Smith who were his fishing buddies. Emory Loren Lusk, Jr., 47, of Cyclone, WV, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at his home following a short illness. He was born May 10 1966 in Logan, WV a son of the late Stollie and Emory L. Lusk, Sr. Emory is a graduate of Oceana High School. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Crystal Scott Lusk; a great niece Kadence Moore; and both sets of grandparents. Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter Jennifer (Raymond) Workman of Oceana; a granddaughter Jasmine Workman; and a grandchild due in July of 2014; a sister Patricia (Gene) Workman of Cyclone; a brother Jessie Dale (Lena Gaye) Lusk of Cyclone; two nephews Derek Toler and Corey Workman all of Cyclone; three nieces Molly “Flo” Workman of Cyclone, and Katie (Bay) Miller of Cyclone, and Kellie (Elisha) Moore of Dingess; three great nieces Laken Osborne, Raegan Miller, and Kinley Harvey; three great nephews Colton Harvey, Gavin Miller, and Isaiah Hawker; One special aunt with whom he lived with Rachel Workman; and a host of family and friends will be left to cherish his memory. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at the Cyclone Church of God, Cyclone, WV, with Rev. Jackie Lusk and Bro. Larry Lusk officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Osborne cemetery, Brushy Fork, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at the church. Tennis Chess Jackson, 56, of North Spring, WV, went to join the Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Huntington, WV, following a short illness. He was born February 5, 1958 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Tennis E. and Janice Riffe Jackson. Chess was a 1976 graduate of Baileysville High School. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Larry Jackson; his companion Susie Toler; and many aunts and uncles. Survivors include his six children Jeremy Jackson of Pendleton, KY, Joshua Jackson of home at North Spring, Betsy (David) Bailey of Martinsville, VA, Adam Toler of Long Branch, Valerie McCoy of Newark, OH, and Kelly Conn of Long Branch; a sisters Bonita (Frank) Cook of North Spring; four grandchildren Madison Rose Jackson of LaGrange, KY, Patience Brooke Bailey of Martinsville, VA, Braxton Bailey of Martinsville, VA, and Brady Bailey of Martinsville, VA; two brothers Timmy (Brenda) Jackson of North Spring, and Chris (Stephanie) Jackson of North Spring; two special nephews Conner Jackson, and Larry Jackson; special friends Rob and Misty Huff, Ken and ginger Robinette, and Michael “Red” Huff; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday February 27, 2014 at the North Spring Baptist Church, North Spring, WV, with Rev. Clifford Rawls and Pastor Jerry Rose officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Cline cemetery, North Spring, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9:00 PM on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at the church. Pallbearers will be Larry Jackson, Luke Jackson, Alex Jackson, Austin Jackson, Frank Cook, and Rob Huff. Honorary pallbearers will be Randal Cline, Michael “Red” Huff, and Ken Robinette. Lawrence Thomas Evans, 67, of Crany, WV, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home. He was born January 27, 1947 in North Spring, WV, a son of the late William Marion and Tracy Mary Davis Evans. He was a 1964 graduate of Baileysville High School, a United States Navy Veteran, and a 1970 graduate of the West Virginia University Institute of Technology. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: William Ronald Evans and wife Fran and John Wesley Evans and wife Elaine; a sister Leatha Etta Peery and husband John; and an infant sister. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who was known for his incredible work ethic and quick sense of humor. He enjoyed relaxing and hunting with his brothers, extended family, and friends at his beloved cabin in Glady, WV and more recently reconnecting with a dear friend from the Navy, Barry Roederer, on fishing trips. A special highlight of each year was an annual picnic with high school friends from the Baileysville Class of 1964. Tom retired as a foreman for Peabody Coal Co. and fought a valiant battle against cancer for the past 25 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years Linda Cochran Evans; two daughters Angela Lynn (Michael) Grinsell of Fleming Island, FL, and Dr. Carmella Evans (Chad) Molina of Zionsville, IN; two sisters Diana Lynn Evans of Houston, TX, and Dale Ann (Jim) Morris of Columbia, SC; three brothers Roger Barry Hatfield of Logan, Dr. Winston Churchill (Patricia) Evans of West Palm Beach, FL, and Jerry Arnold (Shelia) Evans of North Spring; four grandchildren: Thomas Wesley Grinsell, Rebecca Lynn Grinsell, Olivia Lianne Molina, and Cameron Elise Molina; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday March 1, 2014 at the Toneda Missionary Baptist Church, Crany, WV, with Pastor Jim Hamrick and Rev. Glenn Hatfield officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Military Rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9:00 PM on Friday February 28, 2014 at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Pallbearers will be Chad Molina, Michael Grinsell, Thomas Grinsell, Jeremiah Schollar, Charles Schollar, Bill Evans, Scott Evans, Teddy Riffe, Otis Riffe, and A.J. Cook. The family would like to extend a special thank you and debt of gratitude to Debbie Schollar, Deanna and J.B. Cook, and Drs. Carl Larson and Mayez El-Harake and the staff of the Raleigh Regional Cancer Center for their help and assistance over the years. Edward Pennington, 46, of Glen Fork, WV, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014. He was born March 25, 1967 in Beckley, WV a son of William Lee and Sharon Lynn Frazier Pennington of Sabine, WV. He was a 1985 graduate of Glen Rogers High School. He is preceded in death a brother Danny Pennington; grandparents Hubert and Hydrith Frazier, and Bill and Lissie Pennington. Survivors include his parents William Lee and Sharon Lynn Frazier Pennington of Sabine; a son Austin Lee Pennington of McGraws; a sister Melissa Denise (Darren) Stapleton of Glen Fork; two nieces Courtney Stapleton, and Brittany (Dougie) Hatfield; two nephews Derrek Stapleton, and Chris Stapleton; two special great nephews Cayden and Tyler; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday February 28, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. Tanya Smith and Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Pine Grove cemetery, Ravencliff, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM on Friday February 28, 2014 until time of service at the funeral home. Joseph Anderson “Joe” Harvey, 84, of Lynco, WV, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home. He was born December 25, 1929 in Christian, WV, a son of the late William Calvin and Georgia Crabtree Harvey, Sr. He was a United States Navy Veteran and attended Toneda Missionary Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include two daughters Dianna Sheryl Rhoads and husband Dale of Ft. Worth, TX and her children Paige Goff of Kopperston, WV and Allison Goff of Ft. Worth, TX and Valerie Jo Harkcom and husband Greg of Ft. Worth, TX and her children Troy Harkcom and Ryan Harkcom of Ft. Worth, TX; four great grandchildren Christopher, Zoe, Gabriel and Jacyln Goff; a sister-in-law Betty Harvey of Oceana, WV; and a host of other loving family and friends. Joe will be cremated and there will be no public services at this time. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

James Edward Rollins, 65, of Ghent, WV, formerly of Oceana passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his home. He was born November 27, 1948 in Oceana, WV a son of the late Ted Eugene and June Folds Rollins. James was a United States Army Veteran, member of the UMWA, and volunteered at the Beckley VAMC. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Delbert Rollins; three brothers Teddy Eugene Rollins, Billie Rollins, and Terry Rollins. Survivors include two daughters Melody Sue Rollins of Buchanon, and Leslie Baker of High Point, NC; four sons James Edward Berkenstock of SC, Thomas Eric Berkenstock of Buchanon, Aaron Rollins of Ghent, and Austin Rollins of Ghent; three sisters Shelby Berka, Brenda Swartz, and Patty Rollins all of Akron, OH; four brothers Randy Rollins of VA, Muggs Rollins, Barry Rollins, and Mike Rollins all of Akron, OH; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday March 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. Algie Cook officiating. The Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. He will be laid to rest in the Kopperston Community cemetery, Kopperston, WV. Ray Davis, 57, of Oceana, WV passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 30, 1956 in Columbus, OH a son of the late Frank and Agnes Parsons Davis. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother James Davis. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years Patricia Lois Church Davis of Oceana; a daughter Patricia Gail (Randy) Vannatter of Oceana; four sisters Gay Meeks of Branchland, Barbara (Clyde) Workman of Pineville, Ellie (Ricky) Blankenship of Hanover, and Betty (Junior) Riffe of Ikes Fork; four brother Bill (Pansey) Davis of Mooresboro, NC, Doug (Betty) Davis of Teays Valley, Roger Davis and his companion Donna Fortner of Kopperston, and Eddie (Kathy) Davis of Lincoln County; six grandchildren James Nash, Brandi Vannatter, Destiny Vannatter, Amber Vannatter, Jasmine Vannatter, and Joshua Vannatter; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday March 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. James Cline officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9:00 PM on Thursday March 13, 2014 at the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated.
