Elmer Warn Osborne, 85, of Kopper City Bottom, WV went to be with the Lord on Thursday April 24, 2008 at his home following a long illness. He was born October 16, 1922 at Curtis, WV a son of the late Randolph and Sarah Elizabeth Cook Osborne. He was of the Christian Faith, a member of the UMWA and a retired coal miner. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, Ginsenging and spending time with his family. His wife of 58 years Ruth B. Lusk Osborne preceded him in death along with a son Alton J. Osborne, seven brothers, five sisters and a daughter-in-law Ruth I. Osborne. Survivors include three sons Roger and Sue Osborne of Kopper City Bottom, WV, Warner and Quindora Osborne of Accoville, WV and Otis and Linda Osborne of Lundale, WV; a brother Waitman Osborne of Columbus, OH; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a special caregiver Vicki Lamb and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Sunday April 27, 2008 at the Lillyhaven Baptist Church with Rev. William Cook officiating. Elmer will be laid to rest beside his wife in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may call from 6 - 9:00 PM Saturday April 26, 2008 at the church. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Randy V. Gibson, 46, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Oceana, WV passed away Sunday April 27, 2008 at his home. He was born July 18, 1961 in Beckley, WV, a son of the late Andrew H. and Kathleen Toler Gibson. Randy was a 1979 graduate of Oceana High School and attended Concord College, WV Tech and Glenville State. He enjoyed sports and hearing or reading about news from back home. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Carol, a brother Roger, three nieces Lori Hill, Stephanie Cline and Trona Gibson and a nephew Brett Gibson. He is survived by four brothers Dewey and wife Cindy of VA, Bill "Dink" and wife Wanda of Oceana, WV, Herman and wife Jill of Beckley, WV, Leonard and wife Connie of Oceana, WV; six sisters Bertha Hill and husband Harold of Glen Fork, WV, Vita Reed and husband Walt of FL, Aloma Bowden and husband Tracy of Oceana, WV, Sue Cline and husband Butch of TN, Debbie Kennedy and husband Terry of SC, and Trona Harrison and husband Randy of VA; several nieces and nephews; two special friends Ben and Oscar of Myrtle Beach, SC and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday May 2, 2008 at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV. Randy will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Virginia "Maw" Cook, 79, of Toney Fork, WV, passed away Friday March 14, 2008 following a short illness. She entered into the presence of her Lord surrounded by her family. She was born May 31, 1928 in Mullens, WV the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Billings of Ostego, WV. "Maw" was a member of the Lillyhaven Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and attending church. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Algie Dewey Cook, a grandson James Joseph Cook, three brothers and three sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons Rev. Algie R. Cook and wife Peggy, Dennis Larry Cook and wife Brenda, one daughter Betty Jo Bailey and husband Avary all of Toney Fork, WV; twelve grandchildren: Mark Cook, Naman Cook, Algie (Jo Buck) Cook and wife Kathy all of Toney Fork, WV, Sara (Candy) Short and husband Bobby of Clear Fork, WV, Rev. William Cook and wife Stephanie of Toney Fork, WV, Dennis Larry Cook, Jr. and wife Michelle of Toney Fork, WV, Debbie Jo Hazelwood and husband Michael of Dobson, NC, , Nikki Washington ,Rachelle Washington and Cicily Washington all of Clarksburg, WV, Leslie Kennedy and husband Scott of Knoxville, TN and Jason Bailey and wife Roncheski of Toney Fork, WV; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters Annie Ashley of Amigo, WV and Carol Sizemore and husband Daryl of Coolridge, WV; five brothers T.D. Billings and wife Nancy of Mullens, WV, Teddy Billings and wife Faye of Lashmeet, WV, Oliver Billings of Lester, WV, Wilkie Billings of Mullens, WV and Carl Billings and wife Brenda of Denver, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. Viewing will be Sunday from 5 - 6:00 PM for family and 6 - 9:00 PM for friends at the Lillyhaven Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday March 17, 2008 at the Lillyhaven Baptist Church with Rev. Oza Mullens, Jr. officiating. She will be laid to rest at Kopperston Community cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Virginia "Bus" Ellis Bailey, 93, of Ramey Addition, Pineville, WV went to be with the Lord at McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gary, WV on Sunday March 16, 2008. She was born August 29, 1914 in Logan County, WV a daughter of the late Joe and Zettie Allen Ellis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Arnold Bailey; two sons Bill and Charles Bailey; a son-in-law Richard "Dutch" Hudson; and three sisters Madeline Clay, Lillian Fortner and Maudie Ellis. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters Janet Bailey of Pineville, WV and Sandra Hudson of Oak Harbor, OH; a son Jerry Bailey and wife Linda of Ashland, KY; four grandsons Rod Hudson and wife Neelam of Lewis Center, OH, Robert Lee Bailey of Fishers, IN, Phil Bailey and wife Tami of Houston, TX, and Marc Bailey and wife Pam of Hopkinsville, KY; a granddaughter Carla Wright and husband John of Prestonsburg, KY; daughter-in-law Nancy Bailey of Fishers, IN; special neice Sally Mitchell of Marianna, WV; nine special great grandchildren Priya and Vikram Hudson, Andrew, Ethan, Jake, Cooper, Eric and Johnathan Bailey and Jada Wright; special to her was a great great nephew Gregory Mitchell; and a hsot of other loving family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday March 19, 2008 at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Rev. Arnold Harless and Rev. Ron Harvey officiating. Friends will be received from noon until service time today at the funeral home. Faithful to her Savior unto death, Marion Virginia Bailey Tilley departed this life on March 6, 2008. Born July 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Terry Ross and Alice Brown Bailey. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 55 years, Roy E. Tilley; her first grandson David Elkins; her son-in-law Jack Elkins; brothers Terry R. Bailey, Jr. and Leon Bailey; and sister's Mavis Snuffer and Marie Murelli.
Mrs. Tilley was a devoted wife and loving homemaker. She had lived in Sabine since 1959 and had been a member of the Bellemeade Missionary Baptist Church since 1962. Besides spending time caring for her family and serving her church, her joy was in studying God's Word. She particularly enjoyed the teaching of J. Vernon McGhee and was quick to share his thoughts on most any Bible topic. She also took great pleasure in her flowers and could coax a bloom from the most stubborn of plants. She loved watching the birds and her backyard served as the feeding grounds for countless birds, squirrels and a couple of shy foxes. Her plants and her birds will miss her. Those left to mourn her passing include her dear brother and faithful friend, Donald Bailey of Sabine, her daughter and primary caregiver, Judy Elkins of Oceana, her sons Ted Tilley and wife Patsy of Davin and Ray Tilley and wife Terri of Beaver. Marion will also be missed by granddaughter Pamela Elkins Huff, husband Ed, and son Cody of Tazewell, Virginia; granddaughter Crystal Tilley Stewart, husband Mike and daughters Alexandria and Myleigh of Matheny; grandson Jason Tilley, wife Tanya, and daughter Kelsey of McGraws; grandson Matthew Tilley and wife Amanda of Newport News; Virginia, and granddaughter Leila Tilley Northrop, husband Charles and sons Caleb, Eli, and David of Beckley. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside ceremony will be conducted by Reverend Clarence Gibson at 2:00 PM Saturday March 8, 2008 at the Clay cemetery in Saulsville, where Marion's remains will be laid to rest beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Marion's church home: Bellemeade Missionary Baptist Church, General Delivery, Sabine, WV 25916 or to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802-1472. The family wishes to thank Family Healthcare Associates of Oceana, particularly Jeff Prichard, Hospice of Southern West Virginia and Stafford Family Funeral Home for the care provided to Mrs. Tilley. Crystal Gail Sparks Hall, 24, of Oceana, WV passed away Tuesday March 11, 2008 suddenly at her home. Born August 4, 1983 in McDowell County, WV, she was a daughter of Tom and Marsha Sparks of Oceana, WV. Crystal was a member of Guyandotte Baptist Church in Jesse, WV and was a member of the first graduating class from Westside High School. Other than her parents she is survived by a precious and loving daughter Destiny Gail; a sister Jill Sparks and niece Jaylissa; grandfather Kenneth Stafford of Kopperston, WV and grandmother Jean Sparks of Oceana, WV; three uncles Bruce Sparks and wife Pat of Morgantown, WV, Fred Sparks and wife Karen of Eleanor, WV and Randy Stafford and wife Sue of Oceana, WV; two aunts Lillian Tilley and husband Bill of Eccles, WV and Sandy Solacz and husband Mitch of Prosperity, WV; serveral cousins and a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Erma L. Stafford; grandfather Rev. William Boyd Sparks; and a cousin Jonathan Tilley. Services will be held Friday March 14, 2008 at Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM, with services to begin at 12:30 PM with her Pastor Harrison Abbott, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guyandotte Baptist Church Building Fund c/o Anita Lusk, PO Box 1256, Oceana, WV 24870. Crystal will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Georgia "P Jo" Kathaleen Tilley Metz, 72, of Oceana, WV passed away Saturday March 1, 2008 at her home after a short illness. She was born June 14, 1935 in Rock, WV, a daughter of the late Okie Elbert and Zora Minnie Jane Williams Tilley. She was a homemaker and attended the Pentecostal House of Prayer in Lynco. She was also preceded in death by husbands Franklin Chafin, Robert Weekley and Roy Lee Metz; two brothers Billy and Mack Tilley; and a sister Molly Jean Tilley. Survivors include three daughters Cynthia "Trena Kay" Ukle of TN, Alice Campbell and husband Tommy of Lurray, VA and Peggy F. Honaker of Oceana, WV; six sons Danny Earl Sampson of Hill Top, WV, Tracy Lee Sampson of Cool Ridge, WV, Robert Troy Sampson of Newport News, VA, John Paul Dawson and wife Janna of MD, Franklin Pierce Chafin, Jr. and wife Angela of Matewan, WV and Dallas Eugene Widner and wife Mary of Shenandoah, VA; seven sisters Lessie Ann Connors, Pauline "Pat" Gibson and husband Frank Wilson, Edna Mae Pugh and husband John H. Jr., and Jayne Major all of Newport News, VA, Carrie Lou Tilley and husband Randall of Oceana, WV, Judy Kay Ellison of Hill Top, WV and Linda Roark of Maben, WV; two brothers Archie Tilley and wife Pat of Pocahontas County, WV and Jerry Ray Tilley and wife Carolyn of West Point, VA; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 4, 2008 at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Carlyle Bloomme officiating. Following the services Georgia will be cremated according to her wishes. Friends may call Tuesday from noon until service time at the funeral home. Michael Scott Cook, 38, of Logan, WV departed this world on Friday February 22, 2008 at King's Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY. He was born January 12, 1970 at Logan General Hospital, a son of the late Cecil Ray Lovins and Susan Cook Osborne of Oceana, WV. His maternal grandparents Raymond and Frieda Collins Cook of Davin also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife April Cook of Logan, WV; his mother and step-father Roger and Susan Cook Osborne of Oceana, WV; a daughter Kayla Cook of Logan, WV; a son Michael Cook of Logan, WV; a brother Carl "Curly" Cook and companion Lisa White of Matthews, NC; a special aunt Shirley Goade and special cousin Teresa Goade of Mallory, WV; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday February 26, 2008 at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. William Cook officiating. He will be laid to rest in Claypool Methodist Church cemetery, Mallory, WV. Friends may call from 6 - 9:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Kevin Lee “BoBo” Steele, 30, of Beaver, WV, formerly of Panther, WV, passed away Friday February 15, 2008 at his home in Beaver, WV. Kevin was born February 14, 1978 in Welch, WV, a son of Elmer and Nugene Justice Steele of Panther, WV. He was a mechanic. His paternal grandparents Elisha and Jeraldine Steele of Panther, WV and maternal grandparents Lonnie and Mary Justice of Guessiesfork, VA also preceded him in death along with a special uncle Donald Steele and a cousin Jamie Don Steele both of Panther, WV. Surviving him along with his parents are a sister Nancy Steele of Horsecreek, WV; three brothers Derick Steele of Rayson, WV, Teddy Steele fo Horsecreek, WV and Jeff Steele of Beckley, WV; four special nephews Austin Tyler, Jacob Lee, Landon Blake and Kaleb Cole; three special nieces Laikin Steele, Ashley Steele and Allison Steele; along with many other family and friends who loved him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday February 19, 2008 at the Little Wonder Church, Beartown, WV with Bro. Joe Harless, Bro. Granville Mullins and Bro. Oley Bishop officiating. Kevin will be laid to rest in McCoy cemetery, Beartown, WV.
Friends may call after 6:00 PM Monday at the church. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Jimmie Hagar Dishmon, 73, of Matheny, WV passed away Monday February 18, 2008 at his home. Jimmie was born October 5, 1934 in Pigshin, WV a son of the late Clarence Lee and Venie Bilbry Dishmon. He was a US Army Veteran and a retired coal miner. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Naomia Glee Stewart Dishmon, a son Jimmy Dishmon; two daughters Kimberly Dishmon and Shelia Dishmon; a granddaughter Natasha Sunset Hudgins and a grandson Baby Shawn. Survivors include four sons Mark Dishmon, Paul Dishmon, Fred Dishmon and Jeffery Dishmon; three daughters Leisha Dishmon, Loria Farruggia and Rhonda Hudgins; several grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday February 21, 2008 at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV with Rev. Clyde Patrick officiating. Jimmie will be laid to rest beside his loving wife Naomia. Military graveside rites will be by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Jimmie Lee Braswell, 68, of Montcalm, WV, passed away Friday February 8, 2008 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran. Survivors include a son Jimmy Lee Braswell, Jr. of Spanishburg, WV; two grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Jimmie will be cremated and there will be no visitation or services. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
James E. "Eddie" Bragg, 73, of Lynco, WV, passed away Wednesday February 13, 2008 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born May 20, 1934 in Oceana, WV, a son of the late Loyd Edward and Rita Irene Elkins Bragg. In accordance with Eddie's wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Timothy Dewayne "Timmy" Sams, 45, of Oceana, WV, passed away at 9:10 PM Sunday February 3, 2008 in Thomas Memorial Hospital Charleston, WV.
Timmy was born August 22, 1962 in Beckley, WV a son of William Floyd "Bill" and Drema Rae Lewis Sams of Oceana, WV. Survivors also include his loving wife Francis Justice Sams, three daughters Sara Beth Sams of Kopperston, WV, Toni Rae Sams and Samantha Lynn Sams both of Oceana, WV; three sons T.J. Sams and Jacob Grant Sams both of Kopperston, WV and Timothy Dewayne "Timbo" Sams, Jr. of Oceana, WV; three sisters Kimberly Green and husband David of Nevada, Heather Webb and husband Joe of North Carolina and Kellie Evans of Kopperston, WV; a brother James Sams of Oceana, WV; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
There will be a private family viewing. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday February 7, 2008 in the Meadow Fork Community cemetery on Cabin Creek near Saulsville, WV, with the Rev. Ricky Browning officiating.
