This collection includes birth, marriage, and death records from Alaska that took place between the years 1818 and 1963.
Alaska, U.S., Wills and Probate Records, 1883-1978
This collection includes images of probate records from the state of Alaska. Probate records are among the most valuable records available for American genealogy but can be challenging to access because originals are kept in courthouses across the country. The records in this collection come from microfilm that took years to compile. They have been brought together from multiple courthouses over time to give you a single source to search. Some localities and time periods may not be included because they were not available to be acquired as part of this collection, or the records may have been lost or destroyed before the effort to collect them all began. If you are looking for a probate record and believe it to be from a county or year range that is not included in this collection, you can try contacting the appropriate county courthouse to see if the records are available.
Fairbanks, Alaska Cemetery Records
One of the largest cities in Alaska, Fairbanks is located about two hundred miles north of Anchorage along the Tanana River. This database is a collection of records from the Clay Street and Birch Hill Cemetery located in the city. Each record provides the decedent's name, death date, and location of headstone within the cemetery. Most entries also provide the individual's birth date. It includes the names of over 5600 persons who died in the twentieth century. For researchers of Alaskan ancestors, this can be a useful source of information.
Alaska, U.S., Arriving and Departing Passenger and Crew Manifests, 1906-1963
These passenger and crew lists from both ships and aircraft were recorded on a variety of forms that were then turned over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Details requested on the forms varied, but they typically include the name of the vessel and arrival date, ports of departure and arrival (as well as future destinations on a ship's itinerary), dates of departure and arrival, shipmaster, full name, age, gender, physical description, military rank (if any), occupation, birthplace, citizen of what country, and residence. For military transports, you may find the next of kin, relationships, and address listed as well. Later manifests may include visa or passport numbers.
