Page 5 Born June 2, 1902, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter
of Henry and Mary Lampella.
A homemaker, Mrs. Allen was a resident of Madison for
the last five years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Painesville.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Bonnes of Painesville
and Lorna Curtiss of Reno, Nev.; seven sons, Richard of Toms River, N.J.,
Jack of Houston, Texas, Frank of Painesville, John of Mareno Valley, Calif.,
Phillip of Brook Park, Toby of San Diego, Calif., and Dave Curtiss of Amarillo,
Texas; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; four
sisters; and two brothers.
Service is 11 a.m. Suturday at Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville,
with the Rev. James Zinkowich of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
There are no calling hours.

Lester Francis BeBout
Born April 21, 1913, in Berne, Ind., he was the son of
Wayne and Ada (Fetters) BeBout. He had been an Ashtabula County most of
his life.
Mr. BeBout was employed by B & B Wrecking Co., Cleveland,
for the last nine years, as a crane operator engineer. He had also worked
for several other construction firms before retiring in 1975.
He was a member of First Grace Gospel Church, Ashtabula,
and the Ashtabula Yacht Club for many years. He enjoyed flying his own
airplanes, fishing, gun collecting, motorcycles, boating and sports car
racing.
Survivors include his wife, Ella L. (Duff), whom he wed
July 23, 1945, in Wheeling, W. Va.; a son, Richard Davino of Rio Grande,
Calif.; three daughters, Janey Schultz and Jacqueline Smith of Ashtabula,
and Constance Taylor of Shalimar, Fla.; two brothers, Willard of Laguna
Hills, Calif., and Willis of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son,
Francis, in 1998; and a sister, Wanda Thompson.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Childs-Williams Funeral
Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 1440 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula,
with the Rev. David Adams of First Grace Gospel Church officiating. Burial
will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.

Rita E. Churchill
Born Sept. 17, 1926, in Tionesta, Pa., she was the daughter
of Floyd C. and Mary Ann (Dechant) Kline.
Mrs. Churchill was a registered nurse at University Hospital
and other hospitals in the area. She was a member of St. Ann's Church,
Cleveland Heights.
Survivors include her mother; three daughters, Kathleen
Pierson of Geneva, Christine Rose and Laura DiNardo; three sons, Joseph
P. Jr., John P., and Thomas; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
four sisters, Marge Roberts, Patricia Quinto, Geanne Thompson and Ethel
MacBeth; and three brothers, William, Donald and Elton.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at
St. Ann's Church, 2175 Coventry Road, Cleveland Heights, with the Rev.
James E. Singler officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 3 to 8 p.m. today at Schulte
Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home, 5252 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst.

Charles J. Lexso
Born Oct. 22, 1922, in Madison, he was the son of Charles
F. and Clara E. Lexso.
Mr. Lexso retired in 1982 as an inspector at Copperweld
Steel Warren after 28 and half of service.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, farming, traveling, bluegrass
music, and woodworking.
Survivors include his former wife, Bella J. Liddle of
Bristolville; three sons, James of West Farmington, Joseph B. of Newton
Falls and John of Lordstown; one daughter, Jodi Lintz of Zanesville; and
14 grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother,
Raymond F.; and a sister, Annie.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Trask Funeral Home, 275
East Main St., Route 88, West Farmington, with Kevin Longanecker of the
Church of the Brethren, Bristolville. Burial will follow at the Sager Memorial
Cemetery, Bristolville.

Lawrence Wheeler Grady
Born May 2, 1981, in Cleveland, he was the son of Lawrence
Wheeler and Barbara (Grady) Mora and had been an Ashtabula resident for
the past five years.
A junior at Ashtabula High School, he enjoyed music, writing
rap songs, and sports, especially basketball, baseball and football. He
was active in midget league football in his younger years.
Survivors include his parents, brothers, sisters, and
grandparents.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524
Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with Donald Mack of Ashtabula East Congregation of
Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

Marguerite `Reeti' Hutchins
Born July 27, 1949, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter
of Gordon W. and Marilynn (Peavey) Hill and was a lifelong area resident.
After graduating from Ashtabula High School in 1967, Mrs.
Hutchins attended Mount Union College in 1970, where she earned a degree
in education. She taught first grade at McKinsey Elementary School before
becoming an employee of the Ashtabula YMCA. She retired in 1997 because
of ill health.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula,
the OCCL and of the "Y" Masters Swim Team.
Survivors include her father; three sons, Michael, Dan
and Ryan, all of Ashtabula; a brother, the Rev. David Hill of Sunbury;
a sister, Susan White of Mobile, Ala.; and her fiance, Bob Ward of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ross-Billman Funeral
Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with
the Rev. Glenn Lockard and the Rev. Fred Bell of the First United Methodist
Church officiating.

Joyce Maurine Leonard
Born May 22, 1931, in Kane, Pa., she was the daughter
of Maurice and Vada (Kirkland) Haight and had been a resident of Ashtabula
for 42 years.
Mrs. Leonard was a homemaker.
She was a member of Free Methodist Church, Ashtabula.
She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family,
especially the grandchildren, and was an avid animal lover.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas M., whom she married
on Sept. 1, 1950, in Kane; two sons, Thomas Jr. of Geneva and Doug of Ashtabula;
four daughters, Marcia Johnson of Flagstaff, Ariz., Rose Myers of Largo,
Fla., and Diana Stewart of Ashtabula, Carolyn Enricco of Cuyahoga Falls;
a brother, Maurice Haight Jr. of Escondido, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two
brothers, Mervin and Kenneth Haight.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burton Funeral Home-Greenlawn
Chapel, Route 20, North Kingsville, with the Rev. John Jones of Lighthouse
Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens,
North Kingsville.

Minnie E. Lignetta
Born Jan 27, 1917, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter
of Antimo and Antoinetta Vitale Giannelli.
Mrs. Lignetta was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
She enjoyed her family and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; a son, Anthony
of Aliquippa, Pa.; three daughters, Leta Kovacs, Carol Carney and Teresa
Licate, all of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren,
a brother, William Giannell of Ashtabula, and a sister, Adeline Grippi
of Ashtabula.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by infant
twin daughters; four brothers, Ben, Sam, George, and Pasquale Giannelli;
and a sister, Vera Chiaramonti.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery,
Saybrook Township.

Clyde L. Lohrey
Born July 30, 1918, in Lakewood, he moved with his family
to Ashtabula in 1946 and lived in Saybrook Township until moving to southern
California in 1960.
Mr. Lohrey worked for Reliance Electric until he moved
to California.
He was a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge No 651, Lyndhurst.
Survivors include a son, Ted C. of Oceanside, Calif.;
a daughter Judy Lohrey Howell of Las Gatos, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Viola,
next to whom he is buried at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Oceanside, Calif.

Harvey S. Mitcheltree
Phyllis Adamovich
Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Youngstown, she was the daughter
of Joseph Serra and Rose Carson. She married John Adamovich Nov. 20, 1941.
A one-time resident of Hollywood, Fla., Mrs. Adamovich
was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony Church in Youngstown and
Little Flower Catholic Church in Hollywood, Fla.
Survivors include a son, John N. of Conneaut; two grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, on June 27, 1997; a daughter, Miss Karalee; a brother, Vincent
Serra; and two sisters, Rosemary Panfil and Marie Edgerton.
Service is 10 a.m. today at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral
Home, 3100 Canfield Road, Youngstown. Burial will be in Belmont Park Cemetery.

Sandra H. Adler
Born Oct. 13, 1942, in Painesville, she was the daughter
of Frank and Irma (Redetzke) Huetter. She married Edward J. Adler July
24, 1980.
A South Carolina resident since 1997, Mrs. Adler lived
previously in the Madison/Painesville area.
She graduated from Madison High School and Kent State
University, and was an English teacher at John R. Williams Junior High
School from 1964 to 1998.
An avid reader, she enjoyed traveling, spending time at
the beach and taking care of her cats.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, of Wisconsin;
and a sister, Samantha Rauth, of Painesville.
She was preceded in death by her father and her first
husband, Michael Evans.
Funeral is 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home,
26 River St., Madison. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.

Charles A. Berly
A lifelong area resident, he was born Nov. 2, 1921, in
Austinburg, the son of Adam J. and Anna W. (Ohm) Berly.
Mr. Berly graduated from Austinburg High School. During
World War II, he served with the Merchant Marines.
Later, he worked at Reliance Electric in Ashtabula, retiring
in 1983.
He was a member of Madison's American Legion Post, and
attended Saybrook United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, traveling,
bowling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Huffman of Geneva and
John Berly of Geneva; a daughter, Dianne Gilbert of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren;
one great-grandson; and a sister, Josephine Howard of Port Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret
E., in 1996; a brother, Carl; and a sister, Erdine.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Monday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral
Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the
Rev. Joseph Platt officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Calling hour is noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edwin O. Davison
He was born March 22, 1915, in Oil City, Pa., the son
of Kenneth Davison and Ialene Hodge.
He married Glyn Doris Miller June 8, 1971, in Warren.
Mr. Davison worked as a scarfer at Republic Steel Co.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe during World War II.
He enjoyed walking, fishing and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of Chardon; a niece and caregiver,
Carol Barzak of New Castle, Pa.; a son, Robert E. of St. Petersburg, Fla.;
and a brother, Robert of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Walter and Leon; and a sister.
Mr. Davison will be cremated. A graveside committal service
is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Orwell North Cemetery, North Maple Street, Orwell.
The Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, is in
charge of the arrangements.

Catherine Millberg
Born Feb. 16, 1903, in Hazelton, Pa., she was the daughter
of Christopher and Ellen Bushline.
An area resident from 1926 to 1968, Mrs. Millberg was
a homemaker.

Mortuary-National Cremation and Burial, 6901 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix.

Margaret B. Palagyi
She was born Dec. 24, 1920, the daughter of Carl and Marie
(Gilulie) Burr. She married Michael Palagyi Jan. 28, 1945, in Louisiana.
A 1938 graduate of Conneaut High School, Mrs. Palagyi
later worked at Rainbow Babies Hospital in Cleveland. She then entered
Ashtabula General's School of Nursing, and earned her certification as
a registered nurse in 1943.
Employed at Brown Memorial Hospital for many years, she
also was a nurse to Conneaut's Doctor Brown for 28 years -- until he left
the area.
She loved baking, playing cards and attending church activities.
A member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, she volunteered at the St. Frances
Cabrini School library. She also enjoyed monthly dinner gatherings with
the 1943 nurses alumni organization.
Survivors include her husband; two grandchildren, Eric
and Jodie Anderson; a brother, Harry Burr of Conneaut; and a sister, Charlotte
Kelly of Lehigh, Fla.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Palagyi was preceded in death
by a son, Michael, in 1971; a sister, Helen Ritari; and a brother, Carl
"Bob" Burr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St.
Frances Cabrini Church, Conneaut, with the Rev. A. Edward Gretchko officiating.
Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut, will follow.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Raisian

Estill C. Ratliff
Born Sept. 29, 1913 in Paintsville, Ky., he was the son
of Jesse and Mildred (Spencer) Ratliff.
He was a farmer while living in Chillicothe and had worked
as a foreman for Bowdler's Fruit Farm in Ashtabula. He previously hauled
coal in Paintsville, Ky.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Etta (Slone), whom he
married Dec. 18, 1937; six daughters, Phyllis Torrance, Emma Jean Candela
and Patsy Hammond, all of Ashtabula; Barbara Rood of Geneva, Frances Flinchum
of Fairborn, and Juanita Newman of Bevinsville, Ky.; one son, Donald Ratliff
of Wittensville, Ky.; 23 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren;
one brother Lloyd Ratliff of Williamsport; and two sisters, Mary Liz Burns
of Ashtabula and Flora Noel of Waverly.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four
sisters, May Miller, Kate Tackett, Doris Stinson, and Lora Long; three
brothers William "Bud", Curt, and Joe Ratliff.
Funeral is 11 a.m. today at the Church of the Living God,
604 W. 57th St. Ashtabula. The Rev. Robert Falke will officiate. Burial
will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours are this morning until the hour of the service
Saturday at the church where Mr. Ratliff is in state.

Barbara Szaniszlo
Mrs. Szaniszlo was born Aug. 23, 1894, in Pany, Hungary,
the daughter of John and Katalin (Komjati) Koncz. She came to America in
1911, and married Paul Szaniszlo June 18, 1921, in Cleveland.
She had resided in Perry since 1922.
A homemaker, she belonged to the Hungarian Reformed Church
of Fairport Harbor.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Warden of Mount Vernon;
two sons, Paul of Mentor and Ernest of Perry; two grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
in 1965; and six brothers and one sister.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hungarian Reformed Church,
601 Plum St., Fairport Harbor, with the Rev. Luois Medgyesi officiating.
Interment will be in Perry Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the
Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A Vigil Service will be
held 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Arby R. Taft
He was born April 24, 1913, in Adams County, Wis., the
son of Loren and Grace (Robinson) Taft. He married Alberta Stewart Nov.
1, 1942, in Pierpont.
Mr. Taft was a tool and die maker at TRW, Euclid, for
33 years. He retired in 1975.
A seven-year member of the Geneva Zoning Board, he also
was camp medic for the Civilian Conservation Camps in Montana; a member
and elder emeritus at Park Street Christian Church; and a life member of
the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club.
His hobbies included gardening.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marjorie
Stewart of Ashtabula, Kathy Blair of Jackson, Mich. and Sue Taft of Clarksville,
Md.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first
wife, Diantha (Bates) Taft; a daughter, Patricia Wright; seven brothers,
Elmer, Clifford, Floyd, Lloyd, Joseph, Howard and Arthur "Tom"; a sister,
Lorena Case; and a granddaughter, Barbara Wright.
Memorial service will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the
Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with the Rev. Larry
Wade of Park Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Dorset
Cemetery.

Bernice Uminski
Born April 12, 1918, in Erie, she was the daughter of
Adam and Mary Wrzeszcz Chrostowski.
Mrs. Uminski was employed as a private home health aide.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Uminski of Middlefield
and Constance Bull of Venice, Fla.; and three grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Walter, in 1990; and two brothers, Peter and Henry Chrostowski.
Funeral is 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Edward J. Garr Funeral
Home, 459 E. 12th St., Erie, with a Mass of Christian Burial following
at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 516 E. 13th St., Erie.

2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery,
Erie.

Rutheda B. Waters
Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Warren, she was the daughter of
Velorus W. and Mildred E. (Hubbard) Bellows and had lived in Meadville
since 1945.
She married William V. Waters on Feb. 1, 1945, at the
Congregational Church in Jefferson.
Mrs. Waters was a secretary for 25 years at the Crawford
County Area Vocational-Tech School. Prior to that, she worked in the recorder's
office at the Ashtabula County courthouse.
She was a member of Watson Run United Church of Christ,
and served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible School helper. She also
was a life member of the Vernon Township Fire Department and a 40-year
member of the Hilltoppers Women's Club.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Susan W. Schutz
of Chino, Calif.; and four grandsons, Christopher S. Waters, Jason E. Schutz
and Devin J. and Ryan J. Naef.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children;
and a brother, Durwood T. Bellows.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fleming Funeral Home
Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with
the Rev. Samuel Haegy of Watson Run United Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Madison.
