ASHTABULA - Nancy J. DiGiacomo, 71, of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 31, 1926, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Fred and Lucy (Garofalo) Fish.
She was retired, and had worked for Brunner Fabrics and Martell Cleaners, Ashtabula. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, and watching game shows.
Survivors include a son, John, of Ashtabula; a daughter, Lucille Minick of Ashtabula; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Guy and Fred of Ashtabula, and Anthony of California; and three sisters, Josephine Massi and Ida St. Angelo of Ashtabula, and Dolores May of Boardman.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; and a sister, Viola Bayus.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1200 Columbus Ave., Ashtabula. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

CONNEAUT - Andrew M. Fields, 26, of Conneaut, died Monday, June 22, 1998, at his residence.
Born July 5, 1971, he was the son of David and Jean (Brandenberger) Fields.
He was a 1993 graduate of Happy Hearts and was an antique car enthusiast. He also enjoyed reading, music and family get-togethers. He attended East Conneaut United Methodist Church and Sunday School faithfully each week. He was also a member of the National Studebaker's Drivers Club, and was known in all area restaurants for his order of "double fries on one big plate."
Survivors include his parents; four sisters, Kathy Tuttle of Dale City, Va., Laura Chapman of Walton Hill, Marideth Leonard of Westerville, and Noelle Lydic of Columbus; and three brothers, David III of El Paso, Texas, Christopher of Conneaut, and Bryan of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Rudolf and Mary Jane Geer; and paternal grandparents, David and Marguerite (Schaubaut) Fields.
A memorial service will be later in July at the East Conneaut United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ash Welch officiating.

CONOVER, N.C. - Amiel R. Jana, 81, of Conover, died June 16, 1998.
Born Oct. 20, 1916, in Chicago, he was the son of James and Anna Jana. He had lived most of his life in Ashtabula County.
Mr. Jana was self-employed for 50 years as owner/operator of a trucking company in Ashtabula. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Conover. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge of Geneva $334, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and Al Koran of Cleveland.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lee; a son, James, of Conover; a daughter, Sandra Allcock of Ohio; and three grandchildren, Tonya Burke of Ohio, James of Little Rock, Ark., and Jeffrey of Hickory, N.C.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary, and a brother, Andrew.
A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Saybrook United Methodist Church, 7900 S. Depot Road, Saybrook Township, with the Rev. Joe Platt officiating.

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Evelyn Stone Pearson, 90, of Lake Worth, Fla., died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Wellington Regional Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla.
Born Sept. 9, 1907 in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Victor and Betty (Peterson) Stone. She lived in Ashtabula until 1958.
Mrs. Pearson was employed as a private duty nurse in the Ashtabula area after graduating from the Ashtabula General Hospital School of Nursing.
She attended the First Covenant Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, nature and feeding wildlife, such as birds and squirrels.
Her survivors include one sister, Linnea Stone of Ashtabula.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Evar Pearson in 1975; one brother, Carl Stone; and one sister, Violet Stone.
Service is 1:30 p.m. today at Edgewood Cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Warner will officiate.

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP - Genive Proctor, 74, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Mt. Sinai Medical Center East, Richmond Heights.
Born July 4, 1923, in Greenbrier County, W. Va., she was the daughter of William and Nettie Richards. She had lived in Harpersfield Township for two years, moving from Madison.
She attended Geneva Church of God, enjoyed doing crafts and flower gardening. She had worked at Bethandale Corp., Mentor, for 12 years as an assembler.
Survivors include four daughters, Coline Sue Washington of Harpersfield, Elizabeth Gail Olinger of Madison, Joy Barnette of Rock Creek, and Drema Aubuchon of Harpersfield Township; two sons, Malachi O. of Union, W. Va., and Nathan H. of Jefferson; five brothers, Woodrow Richards of Florida, Jesse and Hubert Richards of West Virginia, Alfred Richards of Barrette, W. Va., and William Richards of Ohio; a sister, Kay Lane of West Virginia; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, in 1988.

CLEVELAND - Joseph J. Berta, 72, of Cleveland, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.
Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Madison, he was the son of Joseph J. and Katherine (Foster) Berta. He had lived in Cleveland for 10 years, moving from Painesville.
He had been employed as a welder and was union steward at Diamond Shamrock. He attended Madison High School, entered the Navy during World War II and was on destroyer duty in the Pacific. He was a long-time member and two-year commander of Collinwood Post 2926 V.F.W.
He officiated high school football for 25 years, earning numerous commendations. He played semi-professional baseball and started the Perry Community Youth Basketball Program for fourth, fifth and sixth graders in the early 1970s. He volunteered and worked for the good of the community.
Survivors include a son, Robert, of Cincinnati; two grandsons, Joseph and Nicholas; five sisters, Catherine Berta and Nancy Quickel of Madison, Gertrude Berta and Sandra Blasko of Geneva, and Barbara Spence of Perry; and three brothers, William of Madison, Clarence of Florida and Richard of Cleveland Heights.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death in 1976 by his wife, Barbara Jane (Rooks), whom he wed Feb. 28, 1946, in Pomeroy; a son, Gary, in 1983; a sister, Dorothy Bushnell; and two brothers, John and George.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Perry Cemetery, Perry.

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - Helmi Brown, 80, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, in Lake Havasu City.
Born July 7, 1917, in Ashtabula, she retired to Arizona with her husband in 1984.
Survivors include her husband, Ray "Bud" Brown, whom she wed in 1938; a son, Warren, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Sharon Carter of McAllen, Texas, and Diane Behny of Wheatridge, Colo.; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild; six brothers, Ensio Hanel of Farmington, Mich., Alfred "Hub" Halen of Painesville, Wiljo Hanel and George Hanel and Carl Hanhilammi of Ashtabula, and Ben Hanhilammi of Columbus; and a sister, Laura Eddy of Mount Vernon.

Born Dec. 24, 1958, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Oscar and Mary (Vance) Cole.
A lifelong Ashtabula resident, he attended Harbor High School, loved to play cards and watch sports on television. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include his wife, Patty (Gayheart), whom he wed Aug. 26, 1977; a son, Jerry D. of Ashtabula; a daughter, Rosemary of Ashtabula; two brothers, Michael of Rock Creek and Ronnie of Ashtabula; a sister, Sharon Newsome of Ashtabula; and his father, of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his mother on Dec. 12, 1997.

BOONE, N.C. - Irene Conway, 95, a former Conneaut resident, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Watauga Medical Center, Boone.
Born Nov. 27, 1902, in Crawford County, Pa., she was the daughter of James and Lillian Thornton Thompson (Bryson). She had lived in Conneaut for 50 years before moving to Boone.
A homemaker, she was Methodist.

ASHTABULA - Gertrude M. Kahne, 89, of Ashtabula, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at her home.
Born Oct. 10, 1908, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Alfred and Alice (Istel) Kahne. She had lived in Ashtabula her entire life, except for her professional years in Cleveland.
She graduated from Case Institute of Applied Science with a degree in library science, and received her master's degree from Columbia University School of Library Science, New York. She was employed by the Cleveland Public Library system until her retirement in 1973.
Miss Kahne was a member of United Jewish Women, the Fairmont Temple, the Sisterhood of Fairmont Temple, Tifereth Israel Congregation, and attended the Am Shalom Temple in Mentor.
Her many civic activities included membership in American Association of University Women, the Ashtabula Arts Center, the Tourists literary and book review group, Cleveland City Club, Ashtabula County Unit of the American Cancer Society, and the Ileostomy Society of Cleveland. She recently received an honorary membership in the Ashtabula Area Zonta Club in recognition of her establishment and continuing support of the Marie A. Kahne Memorial Scholarship Fund.
She was also an avid bridge player.
Survivors include several cousins.

Mr.McConnell was a retired chemical maintenance worker for Calhio and Navy veteran of World War II.

Born Jan. 10, 1934, in Warren, she was the daughter of Clarence A. and Elizabeth (Davis) Brister.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker, a member of the Orwell Presbyterian Church, and was recognized by the Grand Valley Ruritans as founder of the Annual Grand Valley Halloween Party. She collected angels, enjoyed shopping for bargains, spending time with her family, and doing for her community. She loved yellow roses.
Survivors include her husband, Milton C., whom she wed Nov. 23, 1952, in Colebrook; two sons, Mickey, of North Bloomfield, and Eric of Euclid; two sisters, Gladys J. Durda of Niles and Nedia I. Althen of Cape Coral, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, making candy, sewing and gardening.

He serviced in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Conneaut in 1957.

WINDSOR TOWNSHIP - Martha E. Hostetler, 63, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at her home.
Born March 31, 1935, in Middlefield, she was the daughter of Elie J. and Sara (Miller) Hostetler and was a lifelong area resident.
Ms. Hostetler did day work in the Chardon area for the past 40 years, working for many different families, including the Ritondaro Funeral Home, Chardon. She helped raise many of the children of families she worked for.
She was noted for her baking skills, especially pies.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and enjoyed being with her 58 nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed traveling when she had the opportunity.
Survivors include her stepmother, Fannie (Miller) Hostetler; six brothers, Lester E. of Sarasota, Fla., Joe E., Marvin, and Robert F., all of Windsor Township, Eli E. of Rock Creek; Mahlon E. of Nappanee, Ind., and Albert E. of Arthur, Ill.; and three sisters, Fannie Wolf of Colebrook Township, Mary Bernardi of Detroit, Mich., and Laura Fisher of Orwell.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1937 and her father in 1984.

CHARDON -- Forrest L. Allemeier, 88, of Wilson Mills Road, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at his residence.
Born Feb. 5, 1910, in Dorset Township, he was a son of John H. and Estelle M. (Runyan) Allemeier.
Mr. Allemeier was a resident of Dorset until 1968, before managing hotels and motels in New Jersey and Ohio for 10 years. He moved to Florida in 1978 and returned to Chardon in 1993.
He retired in 1968 as the manager of the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau Cooperative, where he had worked for 23 years.
He was a lifelong member of the Dorset United Methodist Church and the former Dorset IOOF. He also served on the Dorset School Board and the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau Council.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Spieth) Allemeier, whom he wed on July 20, 1929, in Chester, W. Va.; two daughters, Frieda M. Nadack of Chardon and Beverly M. Skarlinski of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, Robert Skarlinski of Rock Hill, S.C., Michael Skarlinski of Erie, Pa., Becky Berkstresser of Meadville, Pa., Carolyn Holden of Pierpont Township, Charles Van Horn of Willowick, Debra Kooyman of Chardon, and David Van Horn of Akron; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold of Bellvue, Fla.

Mr. Andrews was a farmer who raised almost every kind of animal.
He enjoyed going to farm and machinery auctions and took vegetables to Coyt Road Farmer's Market, Cleveland.
He was a member of Thompson United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie L. (Hazen) Andrews, whom he married on Jan. 1, 1930, in Leroy Township; two children, Jean Evelyn and Howard Hazen of Thompson; three grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Lehman of Streetsboro.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Royal C.; and three sisters, Ruth Buckley, Florence Mitchell and Irma Sidley.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson, with the Rev. Robert Mathias of Thompson United Methodist Church officiating.

ASHTABULA -- Elizabeth Balog, 82, of Carpenter Road, died Friday, June 9, 1998.
Born Jan. 10, 1916, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Kiss) Balog and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life.
After attending Ashtabula High School, Ms. Balog worked as a factory worker for Neff-Perkins, Perry.
She was a member of the former Hungarian Reformed Church, Ashtabula.
Survivors include a brother, Charles P. of Ashtabula; and a sister Mary Helen of Madison.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alex.
A private service will be Tuesday at the Askew-Brink-Ducro Harbor Funeral Home, 1709 West 11th St., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Louis Medgyesi of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Fairport Harbor, officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

CLEVELAND -- Morgan J. DuFour, age six weeks, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at University Hospitals, Cleveland.
She was one of triplet daughters born May 2, 1998, to Joseph and Tina DuFour, Gary Avenue, Ashtabula.
Besides her parents, survivors include four sisters, Brittany, Taylor, and surviving triplets, Faith and Paige; maternal grandparents, Gene and Diane Mahoney of Austinburg; paternal grandparents, Clemit and Vera Gandee of Geneva; and a great-grandmother, Tessie Fitzgerald of Ashtabula.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4542 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts of the Pentecostal Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

WINDSOR TOWNSHIP -- Martha E. Hostetler, 63, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at her home of cancer.
Born March 31, 1935, in Middlefield, she was the daughter of Eli J. and Sara (Miller) Hostetler.
Mrs. Hostetler was a homemaker and also worked for the Ritondaro Funeral Home, Chardon, 30 years. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She enjoyed her nieces and nephews and took care of her housework.
Survivors include her stepmother, Fannie (Miller) Hostetler; six brothers, Lester E. of Sarasota, Fla., Joe E., Marvin E. and Robert E., all of Middlefield, Eli E. of Rock Creek, Mahlon of Nappance, Ind. and Albert E. of Arthur Ill.; and three sisters, Fannie Wolf of Colebrook, Mary Bernardt of Detroit, Mich. and Laura Fisher of Orwell.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death a brother, Mervin.

ERIE, Pa. -- Irene M. Puckly, 69, a long-time Millcreek resident, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at her daughter's residence.
Born Dec. 20, 1928, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Koren) Adamski. She was a resident of Erie most of her life.
A 1946 graduate of Conneaut High School, Mrs. Puckly retired in 1994, after working 20 years in the accounting department of the Lyons Transportation Co. Previously, she had worked several years at Erie Builders Supply Co.
She was a founding member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Erie, and was a member of the Blue Army of Fatima and the Divine Mercy Apostolate.
She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Puckly of Millcreek; son, Jerome J. of Waterford, Pa.; a brother, Raymond Adamski of Conneaut.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J.; a son, Joseph D.; and a sister, Margaret Dragon.

MIDDLEFIELD -- Emma Schnell, 87, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Calridon Township.
Mrs. Schnell was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Painesville, and the Ladies Aide Society of the church.
Survivors include a son, Don of Middlefield; a daughter, Marilyn Covill of Perry; two sisters, Helen Kren of Texas, and Hilda Carey of Concord Township; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

ASHTABULA -- Richard "Rick Randy" Torquato, 62, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born March 29, 1936, in Butler, Pa., the son of Carmen and Ida (Marucca) Torquato, and moved to Ashtabula in 1963.
Mr. Torquato was manager and disc jockey at radio station WAQI. He later worked as a weatherman at WICA television, and in the advertising and sales divisions of the Ashtabula Sentinel.
He began Randy Publications in 1983. The family-operated business produced the Citizen and Villager newspapers, and -- later -- Ad Mat place mats.
A member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Knights of Columbus and the Ashtabula Elks Club, he enjoyed playing cards, golfing and baking.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Francestine) Torquato, whom he married in 1953; six daughters, Lorene of Dallas, Texas, Terri of San Francisco, Calif., Joni Close of Canton, Richele Parcell of Ashtabula, Jennifer of Columbus and Nancy Telzerow of Cleveland; five grandchildren; a brother, Carmen, of Rialto, Calif.; and a sister, Inez Aquilino of Broadview Heights.
Mr. Torquato was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank; and a sister, Margaret Biffaretti.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, West 21st Street, Ashtabula. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township.

NORTH KINGSVILLE -- Joe E. Dickey, 75, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Brown Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1923, in Conneaut, he was the son of G.B. and Ona W. (Barton) Dickey.
Mr. Dickey graduated from Rowe High School in 1941. He later worked in the city's Burke Machine Tool Shop as a tool and die maker, before enlisting with the U.S. Navy.
A World War II veteran, he served with the Navy for two years in the Pacific Theater. Afterwards, he was employed with the U.S. government as a postal carrier. He retired from the post office in 1978, after 32 years service.
He also worked at Dickey Electrical Construction Co., Sebring, Fla., as an electrician.
He attended services at St. Catherine's Catholic Church and the United Methodist Church, both in Sebring; as well as St. Mary's Church in Conneaut.
An avid trumpet player since age five, he performed professionally with the Joe Dickey Combo at various clubs and restaurants. While in Sebring, he also played trumpet with the Sundance Band, at various nursing homes and at the Sun Room Senior Center.
Mr. Dickey also taught trumpet for several years, in both Conneaut and Sebring.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, farming, canoeing, camping raising horses and horseshoe pitching. He also loved being with his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice (Raisian) Dickey, whom he wed on July 20, 1946, at St. Mary's Church; a son, James E. in Sebring, Fla.; two daughters, Joan D. Whitney and Jean K. Whitman of Conneaut; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Winifred Wrathbun of Eustis, Fla.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Francis.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Raisian Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Ash Welch of East Conneaut United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, where the American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military rites.

HOLDREGE, Neb. -- Merle Swanson, 89, a resident of the Methodist Memorial Home died Wednesday, June 17, 1998.
Born Feb. 21, 1909, in Conneaut, he was the son of George and Dora (Northrup) Swanson. He had lived in Jefferson, Ashtabula and Kearney, Neb.
Mr. Swanson graduated from Ashtabula High School and married Anna Hofmeister on Oct. 15, 1938.
He worked his entire career for the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co., retiring in 1974.
After retirement, he moved to Greenville, S.C., where he lived until moving to Kearney in 1989. He moved to Methodist Memorial Home in 1993.
While in Ashtabula, he was a member and deacon at First Christian Church. In Greenville, he was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and active in the senior center there.
In Kearney, he was active in First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Swanson also was a 52-year member and past exalted ruler of Ashtabula Elks Club 208; and a past member and president of the Ashtabula Area City Board of Education.
Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla Jepson of Kearney; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in January 1990, two brothers and two sisters.
Private service is today at O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home, Kearney, Neb. Burial will be in Kearney Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP - Milford L. Kirk, 71, of North Ridge West, Saybrook Township, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born June 6, 1927 in Ashtabula, he was the son of John and Elsie (Heasley) Kirk. He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Kirk began his career as a part-paid fireman for Saybrook Township in the early 1960s. In 1967, he became a full-paid fireman, working as an engineer, emergency medical technician and fire inspector, before retiring in 1984.
His hobbies included crossword puzzles and fishing. He loved cats and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his father of Ashtabula; wife, Rachel (Borzaga) Kirk, whom he married Sept. 25, 1953; two sons, Randy of South Euclid, and Rodney of Ashtabula; five brothers, Redgie of North Kingsville, Russell of Ashtabula, Gordon of Ashtabula, David of Kingsville Township, and Dale of Killbuck; two sisters, Elaine Ludlow of Geneva-on-the-Lake, and Delores Ashley of Saybrook Township; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by daughter, Lee Beth Kernisky.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Saybrook Township Cemetery.

ASHTABULA - Paul A. LaSalle, 55, of Bunker Hill Road, Ashtabula, died Friday, July 17, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 14, 1943, in Meadville, Pa., he was the son of Paul F. and Mary K. (Kuban) LaSalle. He lived in Ashtabula the past 16 years, coming from Linesville, Pa.
Mr. LaSalle was a 25-year employee of the Rockwell International Corp., retiring in 1986. He had been an agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. the past 11 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was an avid runner, enjoyed hunting, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and always shared his motto, "Buy American."
Survivors include his wife, Ingrid Susan (Hurst) LaSalle, whom he married Dec. 30, 1981, in Jefferson; five children, Andre P. of Chicago; Monica J. of Boulder, Colo., Shannon K. of Erie, Pa., Charles J. of Espyville, Pa., and Mellisa D. Brandt of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Michele E. Komar of Cochranton, Pa., Mary "Kathy" LaSalle of Conneaut Lake, Pa., and Rose Marie Sorenson of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

OLEAN, N.Y. - The Rev. Rosadel V. Riley, 80, of Olean, N.Y. died Friday, July 17, 1998, at her home.
Born Nov. 22, 1917, in Saybrook, Pa., she was the daughter of Frank O. and Virgil (Burlingame) Pierce.
She pursued her career and finished her education through Life Bible College. She became an evangelist in 1966 and entered into a full-time ministry in 1967 with the Foursquare International Church in Lancaster, Pa. She then ministered in Conneaut, where she was instrumental in building a new church.
In 1982, she returned to Olean to minister at the New Hope Foursquare Gospel Church.
She was a member of the Olean Women's Republican Club, Olean Home Bureau and the Olean Volunteer Firearm Auxiliary. She was also president of the Conneaut Ministerial Association.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon Baker, Olean; sister, Donna Stephenson, Olean; and her co-pastor and best friend, the Rev. Pauline Wilson, Olean.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Lee E., whom she married June 9, 1934, in Clarion Pa; two brothers, Gilbert and Richard Pierce; and sister Jean W. Wright.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. The Rev. William Watson of the Foursquare Gospel Church of Bradford, Pa., will officiate. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, Pa.

LOVINGSTON, Va. - Richard Sperry, 91, of Lovingston, Va., died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Lovingston, Va.
Born Nov. 23, 1906, in Middlefield Township, he was a Geauga County resident until the 1950s.
Mr. Sperry graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1929 and later attended Case Western Reserve Law School.
He was the first county administrator for Nelson County in Virginia, and volunteered as executive vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, in addition to working with both the Industrial Developmental Authority and the Region 10 Community Services board in Lovingston. He was a surveyor when in Geauga County.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a lieutenant in World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Richard A. of Lovingston, Va., and William H. of Akron; daughter, Carroll Routh of Guilford, Conn.; brother, Mark Sperry of Chardon Township; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille.
Services were held in Virginia.

CONNEAUT - Francis J. Williams Jr., 76, of State Street died Friday, July 17, 1998, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of Francis J. Sr. and Leda (Carrier) Williams. He was a lifelong Conneaut resident.
Mr. Williams was a 1940 graduate of Conneaut High School and served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was instrumental in starting and was in charge of the first radio station in Japan following the war. He was employed as an electrician by True Temper Corp., retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Conneaut and Cowle Post No. 151, of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife Catherine (Yozzo), whom he married May 23, 1942; four daughters, Cathy Sibley of Kent, Pamela Yezza of Willoughby, Amy Topper of Tallmadge and Mary Williams of Conneaut; two sons, Mark of St. Charles, Ill., and David of Conneaut; sister, Margaret McMillen of Conneaut; and 10 grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters during childhood.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church in Conneaut. Rev. Nathan Willis will officiate.
