SCANNED TEXT: In Memoriam DECEMBER 28, 1918—JANUARY 13, 1937 ¦ Margaret Ellen McCarthy graduated from St. Mary's High School, June, 1936. Another member of our Alumni has departed this world in the flower of her youth. Let us pray for her soul and for the souls of Lloyd Fitzgerald, John White, John Perry, Warren Murphy, students of St. Mary's who have gone on before us. We express the hope that they will obtain for us heavenly help and guidance as we hesitate at the entrance to life's career. WHEN FATHER KILLEEN SINGS THE "PATER NOSTER" When first his voice rings out, I close my eyes; I seem to see in far-off Paradise Five figures who with rapt attention gaze, On one whom they all loved; then through the haze I fancy that I see them turn around, And raise their eyes in rapture deep, profound, And turning, they beseech their Heavenly King Unto that priest each gift and blessing bring. These five, most pleasant memories recall, Of school days at Saint Mary's, 'twas the Fall Of their existence; but they did not know That God's eternal wisdom willed it so. Today they are in Paradise, and when They hear him sing that solemn chant again, They ask when. God will call him to His side, That they may be the ones his soul to guide. Catherine Rickert, '37 60 |
